...a bunch of firefighters doing breathing apparatus training in a basement in Southwark using the 3200 ISO setting and the Canon 70-200 mm F2.8L image stabilising lens. A lovely combination and the results are outstanding. The down side - I didn't need to wait for the four months to realise that the autofocussing on this camera takes some getting used to. On occasions where I cover sporting events, I have found that despite playing with a number of different focussing modes on the 1D, I get better focussing accuracy when using the 20D and 5D models, both used by our team of wedding and event photographers. I love the results I have created with this masterpiece at the top end of Canon's DSLR's. Disadvantages: Optional battery pack not a great fit

...and finds its mark even in low light conditions. The built in flash is raised higher from the lens plane than on previous cameras to prevent red eye and the information display is clear and informative. Now onto the bad points.... not many to be honest only that the optional battery pack/grip extention is not the best fit- it does the job but could be better, also my only other grip with the camera is the size of the screen at the back to review the shots on once taken. it could easily be alittle bigger, However the quality of the screen is superb. All in all an excelllent camera from canon, well priced too conscidering it shares alot of software/functions/design from the eos 1d which is around 5 times the price! good work canon!... ...I have got the opportunity to buy a wonderful digital camera from my relative working abroad in FRANCE. The" Canon EOS400D" is a pretty black box, lightweight of about 500grams ,compact and seems to be robust, with an 1.8/55 lens. The E-TTL II window displays you all informations about focal and distances. I was gone picking some landscapes and portrait views, lens and views are clean and it seems that that the EOS cameras had an integrated cleaning system that keeps its lens and micro electronics dustless and spotless automatically on each power on. An 2.5" LCD screen displays rich and well saturated images that allows you to enjoy and share instantly your picked views. Advantages: Full Frame sensor, (Practically) Indestructable, Weatherproof, Clean Images

...The 1Ds is built to take the worst a professional photographer can throw at it and more, and still keep on going. Physically the camera weighs around 1.5kg without a lens, being made out of magnesium alloy and steel, thats understandable, and like canons other EOS 1 series the camera is heavily waterproofed, speaking to a photographer once who once, accidently of course, dropped his 1Ds into a river, retrieved it immediatly he found his lens damaged, but the camera shrugged it off, no marks or water damage. But what really makes people excited about this camera is it's CMOS sensor, using less power than a CCD, battery life is excellent, around 600-700 images. At just over 11 Megapixels the camera's resolution is among the highest on the market, almost 4 times the resolution of Nikons D1. The physical size of the sensor is the same... Read review

With this camera in automatic mode, the flash will kick in if required and the exposure will be adjusted as appropriate.
