Cannon Hall, South Yorkshire
Review of Cannon Hall, Barnsley by
micksheff
Advantages: Free, lots of history
Disadvantages: None for me
...to enter the farm is £3.75 for adults and £3.25 for children. We did not visit the farm but we did make use of the toilets, which are free to use and fully equipped for disabled visitors. We also had a look around the garden centre, which is also free to visit. Also located here are tea rooms and a restaurant.
The house looks very grand even from afar. It is constructed of light sandstone and has a very solid, square appearance which reminded me of many of the other large country manor houses in this area including Cusworth Hall near Doncaster and the nearby Brodsworth Hall.
Cannon Hall is built on three different levels. The ground floor and the second floor includes all of the original rooms of the house, fully furnished with much of the original furniture of the Spencer-Stanhope family. The upper floor features a military museum...

Canon do it again
Review of Canon MP370 by
TheCoopster
Advantages: Excellent Print Quality, Cheap ink Cartridges, Canon Customer Service
Disadvantages: Size
...'s then plump for this model, otherwise save yourself 30 quid and go for the MP360, which is identical apart from the card reader and Pictbridge compatibility. Personally I wouldn't pay any more for an all in one unless you need the addition of a fax machine, and lets face it. If you're on the internet you've got one right in front of you in the shape of a PC anyway!!
2/1/2007 - Just have to add this update because the customer service provided by Canon quite frankly astounded me. I've been using this printer for some time now, as you can see from the original date of the review. Just before Christmas I started having problems with the printer, which didn't disappoint me too much because it has daily (what I would class as heavy) use and has done for over 2 years now. I phoned the Canon support line for some advice and they arranged...

The Cheapest Canon ever...
Review of Canon S 200x by
kenny_khaw
Advantages: Light, Cheap, Perfect for B&W
Disadvantages: External power, Coloured Ink
...thought of making it a portable printer. I don’t mind carrying it around while traveling.
I believe it is made in Japan, but locally assembled.
Price? Hey, it the cheapest bubble jet printer around! The whole printer costs only 25GBP! I don’t think there’s any other printer cheaper than that. It’s the cheapest range of printers from Canon.
As for the ink, Original Inks comes cheap too! The black ink costs only 2.5GBP and the colour ink costs within 4-5GBP. It’s all original Canon ink and you DON’T have to get an unofficial brand!
Besides that, guess what? It comes with a free scientific calculator too from Casio! That was the deal I get over here.
Price of inks may vary and I heard that Canon is going to increase the price of it. So better hurry!
Canon service centres are easy to be found, and even any other computer non-canon...

The Canon i560, a hard act to follow.
Review of Canon i 560 by
jerzed
Advantages: Fast, Quiet, Economical, Stunning quality, PictBridge interface
Disadvantages: Cannot print CDs, Flimsy output tray
.../40ml of ink. Even best whisky is cheaper than this.
I spotted the Canon at PC-World about a year ago. At £119 it was dearer than a lot of offerings but faster, more versatile and most importantly the cartrige capacity was twice that of the identically priced replacements for the so-called "cheaper" models. The only consideration after print quality should be capacity, capacity, capacity. I spoke to the Canon Rep who was in the store and compared various specifications. He was very helpful and impulse buying mode took over.
Unlike the Epsons that have the print-head fixed to the carriage/cartridge holder, the Canon's head is eperate and is threfore easily replaced in the event of failure. I like this feature. Ease of service is a big plus, even in the event of a warranty claim. Epsons need to be dismantled to get at the head.
The i...

Canon blasts the competition away
Review of Canon Smartbase MP360 by
emilne82
Advantages: Cheap to run and easy to use
Disadvantages: none
...on the paper giving a much clearer and crisper image, the downside is that the printer uses twice as much ink.
The ink for the printer is reasonably priced with original genuine Canon cartridges selling at around £16 for a pack of 4 colour and 4 black. The serial numbers for these cartridges are BCI-24B - Black Ink and BCI-24C for colour ink. However there is also compatible ink cartridges that work just as good as the original's and these are a bit cheaper Cartex.co.uk sells the compatible ink for 99p per cartridge when bought in packs of five.
The supplied software is adequate but not outstanding I would prefer to use Photoshop which has much more features and more support available on the web. The supplied software will allow you to do the basic touch ups to photos but it is awkward to use. The OCR software supplied works very well...

Canon Pixima IP4300
Review of Canon PIXMA iP 4300 by
derek-j-a
Advantages: Easy to set up, good quality picture and text output.
Disadvantages: Could have better written manual
...Around the beginning of April, I switched on my old and trusted Epson 880 and went to print out a page, nothing happened. Nothing that is, except all the lights across the front of the machine flashing on and off. A quick reference to the handbook took me to the page that read, “If all lights are flashing, there is an internal fault. Please contact a qualified Epson engineer”. Well it was getting on for 10 years old and had served me well, so I decided it was time for a new printer.
I was fully intending to get another Epson, but the sales assistant in PC World advised me that a the Canon IP4300 was a far better buy, and would be far cheaper to run than any of the Epsons. After he showed me some of the photographic results, I was sold and I got to admit, I am very pleased with my purchase.
On getting the printer home, I found...

Another leap forward by Canon
Review of Canon EOS 20D by
tsahugh
Advantages: fast start-up, fast auto-focussing
Disadvantages: not full 35mm frame
...Minor update after 4 months of ownership
I have been using a Sandisk 2GB CF card and have never had to wait for the camera to write images, which did happen occasionally with the 10D and a 512MB Fuji card (the 2GB card will hold about 220 RAW images). Also, I have yet to need to change batteries while out (seems to handle more than 250 shots over a 3 week period). I use either the supplied battery, or a slightly more powerful lookalike - again with the 10D I sometimes had to change battery after 100+ shots. I suspect this is in part due to the Sandisk card using less power than the Fuji card.
--------
Had my Canon EOS 20D for a couple of weeks now, and having snapped about 500 times I think its quite a big improvement on the 10D.
Obvious changes:
its slightly smaller, though it does not seem to be any lighter once...

...- with the 1Ds MKII, a 16.7MP version, body and features remain identical, but price is the same, if not lower than the original asking price for the 1Ds. If you are committed to Canon accessories, you may want to take a look at the EOS 1DMkII, used mostly for sports, 8Mp and 8fps....
