...This is the worst quality cassette deck I have ever owned. The sound quality can vary slightly each time you play a cassette and it also depends on the direction (auto reverse) and which deck you are using. The problem is the way the auto reverse is implemented. The heads are rotated to play one side of the cassette, and not rotated for the other side. And they don't seem to hit the rotation 'end stop' quite right sometimes, which means the heads are sometimes not aligned correctly, resulting in significant changes in frequency response at the top end. I got the deck to transfer a lot of old cassettes to CD, and was annoyed when I found these problems. For day-to-day use, it might be OK for some people. But for anything else, look elsewhere!... ...Many people seem to think that cassette tapes, and analogue audio in general, have had their day. For me though, I have so many cassettes that converting them to a digital format is impractical, and buying CD copies or paying to download them, too expensive. Unfortunately, the quality of cassette decks in most mini-hifi systems these days is very poor - the cynic in me wonders if this is a deliberate ploy to stimulate sales of CD recorders and other more "hi-tech" gadgetry. Hence, I bought this machine for the grand sum of £10 second hand. I believe it retailed for under £100 new, though I suspect it has been discontinued now. Advantages: play MP3's through an old stereo

...I remember this kind of thing from about 20 years ago, but it wasn't half as usefull as it is know. With one of these cassette adapter you can play any hi tech portable Ipod / MP3 player though any stereo system with a tape deck. You just plug the headphone jack (standard 3.5mm like you find on nearly all uk earphones) into the socket of your mp3 player, stick the cassette in the stereo, and set both the mp3 player and stereo to play, instantly the sound from your mp3 player comes out of your stereo speakers. I bought mine for use in my car, and it served me well till I replaced the car with one with CD stereo. Now it's sat in my home hi-fi tape deck, any time I want to listen to my Ipod I can just plug it into the wire coming out of the tape deck and fill the house with my MP3 tunes. ...I was looking for a hi-fi that will do it all -have AM/FM, DAB, cd and cassette deck. Having look at various available- samsung MMZJ8DAB, LG etc, I came across this model from panasonic. To be honest, I am not very sure about LG and samsung as an audio manufacturing company and panasonic was also a good price, hence I opted for panasonic. The set up was quick and easy, though I was confused for a moment! As with panasonic hi-fi systems, the audio quality is great and I love their bass and sound virtualiser. The reception is good for all the radio bands, though I must state that if you can receive DAB clearly(you can check on bbc with your postcode), you need not have AM and FM.
