Functional
Review of Jury´s Inn (Manchester) by
gollygumdrops
Advantages: Safe, central, clean
Disadvantages: A little expensive
...The Jury's Inn Manchester is a good functional city centre hotel. Rooms are spotlessly clean, and have coffee facilies. Some sadly only have a shower and no bath. Although associated with Jurys Hotels, this is the junior brand, rather like the Express Holiday Inns. Breakfast is English, served in a school canteen type affair where you can eat enough to keep you going through to dinner. For dinner you have a choice of a very pleasant retaurant overlooking the canal, or a more work a day bar with snacks. The hotel does not have a dedicated car park so you have to use the multi story across the road. Although the hotel do give you a discout, this is still a pain when you want to get luggage etc. I would recomment Jurys Inn to anyone looking for a clean and comfortable base in central Manchester....

City Inn Manchester
Review of City Inn, Manchester by
blaaboy
Advantages: Location, service, food
Disadvantages: Small rooms
...I have been a regular to this hotel over the past two years and I have never been disappointed. The hotel is conviently located across from the main train station and only a 2 minute walk to the centre of the city - Piccadilly Gardens.
The staff have always been helpful through my stays. The decor is contemporary and the rooms are finished to a high standard. Every room comes equiped with an Apple desktop computer with free internet acess - a nice touch. Fixture and fitting are all of a high spec and clean throughout. My only grip perhaps is that all the rooms are quite small.
The hotel bar is again contemporary in style, but is comfortable and has a good number of guests in the evenings. Breakfast was of a high standard with excellent service and a great selection of hot and cold foods.
All in all, a great place to stay!...

Travel the country in comfort
Review of Travel Inn (Liverpool) by
charlie25
Advantages: Inexpensive
Disadvantages: None
...for one night stays as for a longer stay you may want a gym or a bar if you were staying longer but I think that they are such good value and so comfortable that you could stay much longer if you wanted to and save yourself a few quid at the same time. There is a central reservation line that you can book a room through although you can ring each Inn individually. Although the Inns tend to be near to motorway turnoffs they are often in town/City centres and are never too far from the action. I have stayed in lots of Travel Inns over the years and would strongly recommend then for the cost, the comfort and the convenience. They are as good a some hotels are certainly the best of all the Travel hotels chains. By the way, my personal recommendations are Manchester Salford Quays and Leeds City Centre Inns....

Jurys Inn Nottingham
Review of Jurys Inn Nottingham by
evina25
Advantages: Economical, clean, modern, good value for money
Disadvantages: No hotel car park
...LOCATION
Jurys Inn Nottingham is located between bridge over the river and a water channel on the London Road , southeast of the city centre, close to the railway station and within a two-minute walk of the tramway system.
First Impression
On arrival to the Jurys Inn in Nottingham city centre, me and my partner were greeted by a modern, quite impressive looking, 8-floors high building. Although the building looks a little unfinished, the reception area looked spotless and shiny marble flooring as well as dimmed lightning and colour scheme added to a very glamorous look. The receptionist welcomed us and checked us in in a fairly informal manner. Unfortunately, we were not given any directions on how to get to our room, where the hotel facilities are or any restaurant/bar opening times.

A night on the quays!
Review of Holiday Inn Express (Manchester) by
lil_lepo
Advantages: Located in beautiful salford quays
Disadvantages: no hot brekkies
...I stayed a few nights at the holiday inn express in Manchester as i got a good deal under the companies priority points program - recommend to register - you get some great hotels.
It is situated in Salford Quays, the business and up and coming district of Manchester. It is located between a couple of business down on the waterfront. It overlooks the famous Lowry Outlet centre, the Salford Rowing Club and the Travel Inn.
About a stones throw away is some ideal restaurants and bar - for that easy relaxing night out without having to go to far. Located in the lowry centre is a cinema - which is about a 15 minute walk along the waterfront.
Restaurant Wise you have:
* Chiquitos (mexican)
* Arbuckles (american)
* Hanrahans (pub grub)
There is another, but the name has been misplaced from my head - it will come back to me im sure...

The Inn Is Out
Review of Member Advice on Chain Hotels: Whitbread Travel Inns / Metros by
LostWitness
Advantages: Cheap and cheerful
Disadvantages: Basic
...praise or criticism that you may have of one hotel will almost certainly be mirrored in another.
THE BRAND
There are now three different varieties of Travel Inn.
Normal Travel Inns can be found at various locations around the country, normally adjacent to, or very near main roads and motorways. Each Travel Inn is located next to a Whitbread group restaurant – e.g. TGI Friday, Brewsters – and offers bed and breakfast for £42.95 per room per night. This is a considerable saving over most hotel chains, and is a standard price offered regardless of the time of year or day of the week. Most Travel Inns are realistically only accessible by car.
Travel Inn Metro is a relatively recent addition the range, and comprises 36 Travel Inn hotels, all located in city centre locations. The premise is fundamentally the same – they still have a Whitbread...

Holiday Inn Express Salford Quays
Review of Holiday Inn Express (Manchester) by
elegantlywasted
Advantages: value for money
Disadvantages: the weather!
...I stayed one night at this hotel following a night out in Manchester. Cost £60 per room.
On arrival the staff were helpful and efficient, there was plenty of room for parking, newspapers and drinks available in reception.
The room was very clean, it consisted of a double bed and sofa bed, small table and chairs, small bathroom with shower only (no bath), TV, kettle etc, just enough storage space for a couple of days/nights luggage.
We managed to squeeze three girlies into our room and weren't charged any extra, therefore good value for money.
Breakfast was a continental buffet (eat as much as you like)
The hotel is located a few minutes walk from the Metro stop, cost about £1 - £1.50 into Manchester city centre, about £6 in a cab. There are a few restaurants/bars close by - Tex/Mex, cafe bar/diner type places, vouchers...

A VIRTUAL DISAPPOINTMENT
Review of travelinn.co.uk by
LostWitness
Advantages: Good search facility
Disadvantages: Online booking is not advanced enough
...cities) and Travel Inn Capital (found in London). The web site explains the differences between the three, as well as a tariff of the charges raised in each. There is also a guide to how the Travel Inn system works, with an overview of what you get for your money. Each Travel Inn is served by one of eight different chain restaurants, and there is an overview here of the type of food served at each. In fact, only four of the links work and are actually referrals to the restaurants’ own web sites.
A relatively useful feature contained within this section is a search engine that enables you to search by facility. By clicking one of four illustrated icons (e.g. beach, shopping centre, theatre) the site will return a list of Travel Inns that are located in convenient distance of such a facility. To be honest, this feature is nothing more...

Value for Money
Review of Member Advice on Chain Hotels: Day's Inn by
ashford
Advantages: Convenient locations. Fixed price per room
Disadvantages: Lack character of older hotels
...There is growing competition for Britain's traditional lodging industry with the entry of budget hotel chains into the UK market. One of the recent entrants is the US company,Days Inn,and although a relative "new kid on the block",they are already making waves.Although not the cheapest they do offer quite high quality accommodation for your money.
Most of the Days Inn hotels are located near to the main Motorway network which make them locationally convenient for taking a city break or visiting a theme park. Their current network of hotels include :
***Days Inn Sheffield South
***Days Inn Basingstoke East
***Birmingham Days Inn
***Days Inn Warwick North
***Days Inn Derby South
***Days Inn South Mimms
***Days Inn Leicester Forest East
***Days Inn Bristol West
***Days Inn Swindon East (Membury)
***Days Inn Bradford South

A Sad Sign Of The Times For An Old Stagecoach Inn!
Review of The Dore Moor Inn, Sheffield by
micksheff
Advantages: Good Views. Decent Food
Disadvantages: No Atmosphere, No Character
...The Dore Moor Inn is a very well known Public House in Sheffield. It sits high above the Western fringe of the City and was originally an old Stagecoach Inn. Beyond here the Hathersage Road (A625) continues on into the Peak District National Park and towards Castleton.
The original Inn was built during the 18th century and became a popular stopover place for the Stagecoaches travelling between Sheffield and Manchester. Back in those days this place was called the Devonshire Arms, due to its association with the Duke of Devonshire who owned the majority of the land in this area.
In 1821 a meeting took place at this Inn in which the Dore Old School Board of Trustees hired Richard Furness as Master. Richard Furness became a very well known and respected English Poet, earning himself the title, Poet of Eyam, due to the many Poems that he...
