Montana 2005 - get it while you can
Review of Montana Sauvignon Blanc by
gollygumdrops
Advantages: Fresh, crisp, quaffable
Disadvantages: It's going fast
...Montana
Marlborough
New Zealand
2005
100% Sauvignon Blanc
Montana has a good reputation for producing high quality New Zealand wines, and New Zealand has earned itself a reputation for excellent wine production.
The 2005 was released in August and contains grapes from a wide area of Marlborough.
The wine is clear and bright with a pale lemon colour with a few hints of green, reflecting its freshness. A quick sniff results in a big hit of fresh, green fruitiness. Sauvignon Blanc's distinctive varietal character is here in spades, there's gooseberries and green peppers with a smidge of grass. It smells delicious, so it seems wasteful not to get straight in for a taste.
It's seriously dry with a crisp acidity that sets your mouth watering. It's medium bodied with an intense fruitiness. The gooseberry and pepper...

Montana Sauvignon blanc 2002
Review of Montana Sauvignon Blanc by
nikauuk
Advantages: Excellent wine for good price
Disadvantages: addictive!
...Being a kiwi it is natural that I drink plenty of New Zealand wine and indeed I do, too much perhaps! This wine comes from the Malborough region of New Zealand, which lies at the top of the South Island at a lattitude equivalent to about mid Spain. It is a relatively dry area, with good (2400hrs per annum) sunshine hours. Summer day temperatures would average about 23degC with winter days being around 12-15 degC, frosts are rare and not severe. Ideal for the Sauvignon blanc grape then.
This grape is said to grow best in cool climates, and compared to the searing heat that continental regions such as France and the US get in the summer, Malborough is "cool".
The Montana name originated in 1934 when a Yugoslavian immigrant planted a grape vine near some mountains near Auckland NZ (montana meaning mountain). Thirty years later his two...

Russell Hobbs 12535 Montana kettle
Review of Montana Cordless Jug Kettle by
Shellington
Advantages: Nice shaped kettle, fairly priced
Disadvantages: Looks a bit tacky
...Having looked up this product it seams that Russell Hobbs have several kettles in their Montana range. These include stainless steel, polished stainless steel, silver and stainless steel models that illuminate.
This review is based on the Russell Hobbs 12535 Montana kettle in white and silver.
I found myself in need of another kettle so having not really found any in my local super market I thought I would just have a browse on line to see what I could find. There seamed to be so many to choose from and having the dilemma of choosing between a stainless steel kettle or an illuminating kettle etc etc, I decided to opt for a simple white kettle, nothing too flashy, but I only need it to boil water after all! I eventually stumbled across the Russell Hobbs 12535 kettle for £17.79 which seamed a good price and it looked ok so...

Montana Sky - getting raunchy on the ranch!
Review of Montana Sky - Nora Roberts by
TJ034
Advantages: Great read, good characters, good plot, good twist
Disadvantages: Slightly rushed ending, but didn't spoil my enjoyment
...I came across Nora Roberts books purely by accident after getting one free in a goodie bag a couple of years ago. Since then, I've read and collected quite a few and Montana Sky is the latest one I've read.
Although I really like Nora Roberts as an author and find some of her books totally 'unputdownable', I also find some of her books very hard to get into and in fact I haven't finished a couple of them. Montana Sky however, in my opinion, is in first category - from start to finish I was gripped with this book and it didn't disappoint.
The 467 page book was first published in 1996, so it's not a new book by any stretch of the imagination. However, the copy I have read was actually published in 2006 so it looks like this one has had a bit of a facelift!
The story is about 3 grown up sisters - who all share the same father...

Say 'ello to Tony Montana...
Review of Scarface DVD by
manc_azza
Advantages: Great movice for fans of the 'Gangster' genre...
Disadvantages: Should have hd De Niro in as well to make it an ultimate classic...
...The Film:
One of the greatest gangster films ever made? Well that's what many people consider. I would have to say that this isn't really correct, but does definitely stand out from other gangster films.
The film is based upon the 1932 version of Scarface, in which uses very similar plot outlines throughout the film such as the dramatic ending of the bad guy dying in the end, the protectiveness of the bad guys sister and also the bad guy going for the boss' partner. Unlike the original, the main character Tony Montana (Al Pacino) is a Cuban refugee and the film is set in Miami, whereas the original is set in Chicago and the character Tony Comente (Paul Muni) is based
upon Al Capone. In reference to the original, when it was released 1932, this was when Al Capone ruled the Chicago gangland.
The film is basically about Montana...

Pioneer Spirit & Glass Plates
Review of Photographing Montana, 1894-1928: The Life & Work of Evelyn Cameron - Donna M. Lucey by
hiker
Advantages: Touching insight into a life, and a way of life
Disadvantages: None
...In 1907, 24 year old Janet Williams was one of the original pioneers staking a homestead claim alongside those of her father and her brother in the godforsaken reaches of Montana. Home was a tar-paper shack and the weather was harsh. Not long after settling the Williams family became acquainted with their eccentric neighbours Evelyn & Ewen Cameron.
The English-aristocrat ranchers “adopted” Janet; they taught her to ride and to herd, tried to teach her French, encouraged her musical abilities. She called them madre and mon père. When they died she inherited the ranch. “Fifty years later she still could not bear to part with any of that legacy”.
In 1979 Donna Lucey set about persuading her to share it: because part of that legacy was quite simply the Life & Work of Evelyn Cameron. A collection...

The other side of me
Review of Hannah Montana by
liz1102
Advantages: Good, Clean, Feel good humour. Talented young cast. Great music
Disadvantages: Sometimes the basic premise falls down. A few weak links in the cast.
...Hannah Montana is one of the few Disney series that still entertains me, even at the grand old age of (almost) 20! Any girl who's ever been a teenager, had a parent, brother, best friend, or ever been made fun of in school will find something in this show! There is enough humour to keep both small kids and bigger kids (me!) entertained for the 20minutes it occupies each week.
The Plot
Hannah Montana is the newest, hottest, teen pop sensation in town (in Disney TV land at least); everyone recognises her, knows her name and wants to be her friend. But if you looked up Hannah Montana in birth records, she probably wouldn't make an appearance. That's because in reality the pop sensation is actually the plain and ordinary social outcast Miley Stuart, freshly moved to Malibu from Tennessee. Nobody can know about her secret double life...

My daughter gives it some lip!
Review of Hannah Montana Make Your Own Lip Gloss Set by
sarahbarrow
Advantages: Easy to make.
Disadvantages: Falsely advertised!
...Anyone familiar with my reviews will be aware that my daughter (now 7) is a huge High School musical fan, but the product I will now review is merchandise from one of her new "favourites" Hannah Montana.
The product I will now review is "Hannah Montana - create your own lip gloss set".
Anyone not familiar with Hannah Montana here's a little background information -
Hannah Montana (played by Destiny Hope Cyrus) is by day a normal 14 year old school girl who has just started her local high school, but by night and in her disguise ( albeit a long blonde wig and some truly fabulous clothes), she becomes pop sensation Hannah Montana.
Her father and manager (Billy Ray Cyrus, as in "acky breaky heart fame", who is obviously her real father as well) plays her dad in the show and also Hannah Montana's manager and songwriter. I...
