Classical Continental style
Review of Bentley Continental T by m_kingdom

Advantages: Powerful, design, comfort
Disadvantages: Very unreliable, low MPG (well, I'll try to be practical)

...I enjoy luxury cars, lets face it who doesn't. Prior to buying this car I have owned Porsches, Aston Martins, and Bristols - I thought I would continue the trend and try a Bentley. I don't like convertibles, mainly from a practical point of view as I have had the roof slashed on cars I used to own - very costly to replace. Thus, the Continental was the obvious choice - there are three models - the R, T and SC. The R has a lower specification than the SC, the T is the most powerful, doing 20MPH more than the other two, and as expected has more brisk acceleration. Me, being the sporty type plumped for the T version, also it is considerably cheaper than the SC. The options to customize your car offered by Bentley are superb - they fulfilled my desires for black quilted leather, with bright orange piping, they also carried this theme... Read review

What a ride......!
Review of Bentley Continental GT by libragirl

Advantages: How to win friends and influence people!
Disadvantages: Poor MPG

...On Wednesday 5th November 2003, I was fortunate enough to be a guest at the 'Evening of speed, fashion and passion' - 'Soft launch' of the latest of Bentley Motors' babies ~ the Continental GT ~ at India of Inchinnan, Paisley, Glasgow. India of Inchinnan was built in the 1920's and is one of Britains' finest examples of Art Deco architecture in the UK. Originally an airship factory, the site was bought by the India tyre company and went on to produce the tyres for the Bentley R-Type Continental in the 1950's. The Continental GT has drawn upon the unmistakable DNA design of Bentley. It is of a 'predatory', muscular design filled with some of the most advanced technology to be found in a car today. Craving to be unleashed is a 6 litre twin turbocharged, 12 cylinder engine in W formation. (Developed and tuned by Bentley... Read review

Super Value Easy to Use
Review of Formule 1, Coventry by cindyadams

Advantages: Cheap and Clean
Disadvantages: very basic

...We have stayed in several Formula One Hotels around France. They are conveniently situated and near main routes. The car parking facilities have always been good. We have found the hotels easy to find. We have always booked on the internet which is very easy. We were relieved to find on one occasion that you can get in at all hours of the night via a secure system using the information provided on the internet booking. All instructions are in English and even the breakfast was ready for us the next day. Although the facilities are shared they are always very clean as they have a cleaning system after each use. The breakfast is continental style but is plentiful and even a hungry teenager is satisfied.I would recommend this chain as an excellent stopover. Each room sleeps 3 adults so even a family of 6 needs only 2 rooms.... Read review

Great British Classic
Review of Bentley Continental SC by im_not_batman

Advantages: Highly reliable, great features
Disadvantages: Expensive to fuel

...I bought this car in 2003 used from a main dealer with 33,000 miles on the clock. Being used to owning new cars, it really had the feel of still being new with factory mileage on the clock. The interior and exterior both made it look like new and drive like a dream. I live in a small town with major traffic problems and I find it a great hassle finding a place to park, this car is huge and has the turning circle of a bus compared to my other cars which were all smaller and less luxurious. I bought this car with metallic paint, cd changer, DVD player and TV's in the head restraints for £45,000 which was pretty good for a Bentley. I'd driven past the showroom many times and saw the price getting lower and lower until it finally reached my price range. This is truly a great car, handles well, comfortable ride and great performance. I have... Read review

Europe without the foreigners!
Review of Thorntons Continental Boxed Chocolates by jammy_banana

Advantages: Delicious chocolates
Disadvantages: a bit more expensive

...Despite what we might say, we British secretly love continental Europe. We might gripe about the people (and why not?) but the fact is there are just some things that are invariably better in continental Europe. The weather for a start, car prices too. On the whole Britain is seen as quite shabby next to continental Europe, with our stodgy food and practical footwear (what French person would ever wear wellies?). In recent years we have done a little catching up but we still hanker after the finer things in life which sub-consciously we still link with continental Europe. British chocolate is somewhat infamous in Europe for not being proper chocolate. The EU makes us call it family chocolate when we export it. European chocolate on the other hand is much finer. And this brings me to the wonder that is Thornton... Read review

More than I ever expected!
Review of One Pass (Continental Airlines) by Big-Al

Advantages: Frequent Flyer Bonus Miles
Disadvantages: Changes to the Elite Rules Next Year...

...I started flying with Continental only last year, and on my first trip to the States I met a lady who is now my fiancee, so I have been travelling across the Atlantic quite a bit! I don't know why I joined this scheme, but I am glad I did! I am amazed at how quickly the miles build up thanks to their very generous Elite scheme - after just 5 Transatlantic flights (that is flights, not round trips!) you will reach Silver Elite status, giving a 50% milage bonus, so a typical round trip to New York earns 10,000 miles (or 11,000 if you book online). Another 5 Transatlantic legs sees Gold Elite status and 100% bonus miles, then Platinim Elite and 125% bonus... Also with Elite status comes the end of queues at airports - check in at the first class desk and go straight onto the aircraft when they open first class. The Elite... Read review

A room with a view
Review of Hyatt Regency, Birmingham by mistresslenore

Advantages: Brilliant view
Disadvantages: Over Priced

...My friend and I fancied a change this New Year's eve and headed to our local luxury hotel to be pampered. The Hyatt is located on Broad Street in Birmingham and is 24 stories high giving a fabulous view over the city, our room was located on the 18th floor (high up at our request) and the view was phenomenal. The cost for 2 nights bed and breakfast set us back just under £400 so we had high expectations. On our arrival (and much to my annoyance), the valet parking service was not available, we had to leave our cases with the conceierge and drive to their car park quite a distance away from the hotel (which costs £12 per 24 hours, and if I'm honest doesn't look too safe, although no harm came to the car during our stay). After the long walk back from the car park we collected our baggage and struggled to get it through the doors... Read review

My own little car...
Review of Peugeot 206 1.1 by casper51

Advantages: sporty looks, good MPG
Disadvantages: 'niggling' interior defects

...I bought a second hand 3dr S-reg 206 1.1 LX in super racing green 6 months ago. It's my very first car and I am so pleased with it. The 1.1 engine seems remarkably pokey and cruises well on the motorway. I frequently travel to Birmingham from Portsmouth (around 180 miles) which only uses around a third of a tank of petrol (around £15), so is very economical. And of course, road tax is cheaper in cars with smaller engine sizes. So, my little car offers extremely good value for money. The car is exceedingly roomy in the front, not really so in the back, but a lot more spacious than most 3dr cars. It's additional features are excellent too: electric windows, headlight beam adjusters for continental driving, instrument lighting dimmer, hidden spare wheel (underneath the car) to maximise boot space, boot light, collapsible rear seats... IFA Continental, Playa Des Ingles
Review of IFA Continental Hotel, Grand Canary by smartcookie

Advantages: Execellent position next to bus station and close to shops, just far enough away from night life to be quiet.
Disadvantages: The food is excellent so you may over eat ! Not very close to beach.

...of which a visit is a must. The beach however is not at this end of the resort so aways to go to get to the sandy part. it's not what we went for so no bother to us, it is easy to walk to as the promanade runs right along to Maspolamas and the sand dunes but its a long walk. there are plenty of Taxi's and hire cars around. The Kumba centre is far enough away not to be a nuisance but near enough to walk to and taxi back with shopping. We like to go to Gran Canaria in March as it's usally awlful here but very warm without being to hot over there. The flight takes just under four hours so pick a good airline with entertainment as this can be a long trip for the children. We now have a timeshare at another resort or we would have gone again to The Continental, happy memories of this hotel and you can't miss it as it's pale pink ! Loads to do... Read review

Are you being served?
Review of Minster hotel, York by Yelena

Advantages: location, car park
Disadvantages: a bit too expensive for what it offers

...The Minster Hotel, where I stayed earlier this year, is located about 5 minutes walk from the beautiful York Minster and the city centre. The location is really good – it’s handy for all major attractions and shops. At the check-in I was asked to pay in advance, which I found really strange but was told it was their normal practice… Check-in time is quite late – 2pm, check-out is early - 10 am. The room was fairly quiet and quite comfortable, offering Sky satellite TV, tea and coffee making facilities, telephone, hairdryer. The bathroom looked old though… and the shower curtain wasn’t exactly clean, which spoilt the pleasure of having a shower. There’s nothing like gym or pool at this small hotel. Breakfast is served in a Victorian dining room. Usual choice here – full English or continental. We had to wait for quite a while... Read review
