...I left my old company a couple of months ago and took up my new position with my current company who very kindly issued me with a brand new Dell Latitude D820 laptop. I've had an opportunity to put it through its paces for the last 8 weeks and this review will cover my experiences to date. In terms of specification this laptop is much more powerful than my old one. For starters it has a dual core processor. For those of you not familiar with dual core, this means that the main processor actually consists of 2 processors within a single chip. Each processor or 'core' can be used to perform a different task. E.g. one may be running Microsoft Office applications whilst the other could be running an application that plays your music files. ...After having problems with my old computer, I decided to get a new one. I browsed for a couple of weeks and finally chose the HP Pavilion T3155. I bought it direct from Comet, and it was on offer so cost £449.99 On switching the computer on I found it was slightly louder than my previous one. Anyone who's 'computer handy' could probably fix this. I didn't feel it was much of a problem, and I don't even notice it now. I think it would also depend on how noisy your last computer was, to whether it was a problem or not. The T3155 started up much faster than my old computer - presumably because of the Pentium D 820 processor and 1GB RAM. ...Sept 06 - order Elite² D820 It took me 3 attempts and endless unanswered emails to get the machine I paid for delivered. At 1 stage I was given a delivery date and when I phoned up to see why it did not arrive, they hadn't even processed the order. I then spent another Saturday afternoon trying to get an alternative machine that was valued at the amount I had paid them in the first place - were they deliberately trying to pass off components of a lesser value? Nov 06 2.5 months after my original order my machine finally arrived with the DVD drive not working and the MCE remote control missing. I called customer services trying to discover why the order process was so poor. ...The Samsung SGH-D840 is best known for the thin and sleek shape. I purchased this phone £149.99 on the network orange. The phone is a updated version of the D820 but thinner and a upgraded camera. Overall the Samsung SGH-D840 dimensions are (99mm x 51mm x 11.9mm) which even to me is completely tiny! The front screen is a average 240 x 320 pixel 262,000 colour job but it’s completely reasonable. The screen can however become smudged very easily through, especially from fingerprints. The phone looks really stylish to the eye, and really noticeable. The phone does come with a wide range of features, some weren’t useful to me such as the multiple language option, and however it can be useful to others!
