Daiwa Supercast - Thoroughbred amongst donkeys
Review of Daiwa supercast beach rod by
Twistedpro
Advantages: Easy casting, excellent bite detection, robust,
Disadvantages: Difficult to load the power version during cast for massive casts
...The Daiwa Supercast beach rod is made in the UK.
It has a powerful butt construction and a lightening quick recovery. It comes in multiple versions. The rod has been quoted by sea angler as "destined for classic status amongst UK sea anglers".
Features
- Exclusive individual design
- High grade carbon butt
- Blended tip
- Fuji 'shock ring' Aluminium Oxide guides
- Superb balance and handling
- Cross textured shrink grips
- Daiwa stainless steel coasters
The daiwa supercast is an excellent rod, i have been using the STS13PM for all my beach fishing. It is capable of casting 6oz and mackeral flapper with ease. The STS13PM is rated at 4-8oz and is ideal for areas with a strong tide.
The bite detection is also very good, on the STS13PM it has a stiffer tip which allows more sensitive bite detection in flood tides. However due to this when...

Ideal Shore reel.
Review of Daiwa Emcast Plus Big Pit Reel by
seaweed78
Advantages: Good casting distance, high speed retrieval, comfortable handle, good power
Disadvantages: Outer finishing seems not lasting too long.
...I own a 6000 series. Yes, it is quite big but actually it weigh the same as the 5500 series, and with added line capacity and more recovery per handle turn, it was an easy decision for me. Before this reel, my collection were mostly on 4000 series sort of size and capacity consist of few good name (shimano, daiwa, abu garcia). That was before I started shore fishing. A few thing that I learned that lead me on buying this particular reel were:
1. Shallow pit reel can't get the casting distance to beat the wave break. Bigger diameter released line smoother and better, hence greater distance.
2. Small handle and small handle turn make me feel like my reel is 'vulnerable' . With relatively smaller gearing relative to the size, it does reduce the lifespan.
3. I need big and comfortable handle grip for repeated casting and retrieving.
4...

Up the pole
Review of Daiwa Matchlite by
breezer
Advantages: Strength, quality, price.
Disadvantages: Only one extra top two sections supplied with it.
...A few years back I used to fish in my local angling club matches, and although these matches were just fun events with club trophy’s given out at the end of the season, there were also a few pennies to be won each week. It soon became clear, that to get in the money you had to be able to fish with a pole as a lot of the venues we fished were suited to this kind of fishing.
So off I went to my local tackle shop in search of a pole, having used my local tackle shop for all my fishing life; they knew me as a regular customer. This helped a great deal, as they knew the sort of venues I fished, and they recommended that I buy the Team Daiwa Matchlite.
This pole is 11 metres long, and weighs 755grms. It has 9 sections and the top 2 are telescopic, it is supplied with a spare top 2 sections.
At the time this was a Very light pole...

These reels are the best
Review of Shimano Baitrunners by
jasper31
Advantages: Everything. These reels are the dogs bits.
Disadvantages: Maybe the fact that when the freespool is on you have to turn the reel handle a full 1/2 a turn to engage the clutch. Can be a bit daunting when you first start using the reel and your used to picking up the rod and striking before reeling in.
...After over 25 years of fishing and in that time i have swapped many reels and am always looking for a better deal. Anything that comes on the market that makes fishing easier is always worth a look.
The shimano baitrunner is truely the bees knees when it comes to carp fishing, and at a very resonably price. i know the daiwa emblem's are good but for quality and price you can't beat the Shimano.
The first thing that strikes you about the reels is he quality. Just looking at one and you can see that it has been made with hard fighting fish in mind. Which ever one you decide on and there are a few. you will not be dissappointed. You get all the lingo with it like line lay, ball bearings, anti-reverse gearing, all is a bit much for an average angler.
So in my opion the ease in which these reels can be used is great. i first tried...

Avenue Angling, Norwich - The BEST
Review of Avenue Angling Fishing Tackle Shop by
yackers1
Advantages: Excellent service, products, prices
Disadvantages: You'll probably spend too much money
...are there including Fox, Daiwa, Shimano, Giant, Leeda, Shakespeare - all of them. And it is not just carp gear that is sold - pike, coarse, sea and game tackle is readily available.
You could spend hours just looking around at everything.
John and Martin are top blokes too. John likes his pike fishing and is always willing to help and advise on anything from where to fish, how to fish, the best tackle/bait etc.etc. I think John is also a bit of a sea angler. If you have a question then ask John. If he can help he will and he will always give an honest answer. This is not the case with most anglers, especially specimen anglers as they are very secretive!
Martin is a keen carp angler. And just like John he is more than willing to help and offer advice. Be warned though - Martin is the salesman of the shop and is always keen to get you to part with your...

Whose Line Is It Anyway?
Review of Korda State Of The Art Underwater Carp Fishing Part 2 by
snake_plissken
Advantages: Fish's eye view of your tackle
Disadvantages: You might sell your equipment
...the weight of the mono it stays very close to the bottom for a good distance.
Whiplash didn't have a very good bait presentation and was clearly visible within a few feet of the rig. So this is not a very good product.
One thing that you should do when using braid lines is to re-colour them with a marker pen when they fade. Lighter coloured braids are highly visible and tend to spook more fish, so if you want to keep on catching carp colour your braid.
=
Bonus - Spodding and Underwater Fish Action
=
Daiwa Emblem Pro reel
Berkley Whiplash 20lb mainline
Armacord Floating Braid Leeder
Daiwa Infinity 4lb test curve rod, with a fast action
Spod
The spod used had a weighted luminous end thus making it highly visible when cast over great distances so you could make sure...
