...I have to say, I think Ernest Jones have one the of the best customer services of any retailer. Maybe that can't be said for all stores but it is certainly true of the Winchester store. My husband bought me a diamond and white gold engagement ring in January 2004. I absolutely adored the ring, so you can imagine my complete horror when I lost a diamond seven months later and three weeks before my wedding. I went back to the store with my receipt and explained my predicament. Having closely examined the ring, Ernest Jones agreed that I had not damaged the ring and that the stones could not have been properly set in the first place. I assumed they would repair the ring but they offered me a brand new, replacement ring instead. Amazingly, they had one in stock centrally, so I received my new ring a couple of weeks before... ...They ruined my engagement - YES that sounds dramatic but they honestly did - The £1000 platinum princess cut engagement ring I picked in 2003 is still in the stores being sold to this day so BEWARE - (platinum - princess cut 6 diamonds in the shape of a rectangle with channel set diamond shafts. Basically it broke - the shaft came away from the setting - they said they were going to get another for me - LIES - they patched it up and it broke AGAIN - during my engagement time celebratory meal with my parents it literally bent and broke and became distorted. I took it back AGAIN to the Bolton Branch and they said it looked like it had been put in the road and driven over. ...I went on Cool Diamond's website following a recommendation of one of my female colleagues, she had actually chosen her ring from their show room in London and had been delighted with the whole experience. Due to time constrains I was not able to travel to London and decided (reluctantly) to go and buy my ring online. First I choose a shortlist of Jewellers selling diamond rings online. Some of the websites like Blue Nile or 365 diamonds looked interesting but I decided against them as the first did not have a UK address on their website and the latter only had a post office box as an address. I have bought enough online to know that if something goes wrong you want a company in the UK with a proper postal address you can visit. They make great use of imagery so you can view the item and see how it looks before you purchase3 the item - very handy feature as a picture can say a 1000 words as the saying goes :) All the descriptions in the world could still not detemine whether an item is nice or not. Becoming a member of the HPJ Website is very easy - you just click the link and enter your personal details, an email will be sent to your email address to confirm your email and you are then a member , and you can then purchase as much as you want :) and all purchase records are stored online. ...not understand this as I had sized my finger at the local jewellers. After Christmas we took the ring into F Hinds and got it measured and it turned out that it was a size P, so no wonder it didnt fit! The staff there took my ring back and ordered another one in size R for me. This took about 2 weeks to arrive so we went to Barnstaple to collect it. ENGAGEMENT RING +++++++++++++++++ When the above mentioned ring was purchased I told my boyfriend that if he ever decided to get me an engagement ring without me knowing, then it would have to be a size S as my left hand is bigger than my right. ...above we arrived around 9.30, and started making the rings about 10. We finished them at 2.00 ish. At that point the rings are almost complete. They are all buffed and shinny. We chose some small diamonds to be mounted around the ladies ring. The rings are then sent off to be hallmarked, I think they then mount the diamonds themselves. After hallmarking you can have a message engraved inside the ring all included in the price. The price you pay is based on the wieght of the ring, plus extra for diamonds etc. As a bonus they even buffed up the rings we were wearing on the day. Made the engagement ring look new again! It's the little touches like this that make it so memorable. 10 days later and the rings have arrived in a really nice wooden box. They also offer a design only service where they make the ring. ...woman loves diamonds (if you don’t please tell me why?) I only received my first ever diamond last year and that was because it was on my engagement ring. It was not expensive (almost touches the 3 figure mark) but it symbolises the love in which it was given… one that will last forever and could never be tarnished. Obviously I wouldn’t say no to a £1million diamond necklace but no matter how much it costs it will never be the same sentimental value of my ring. DEREK Soppy as this sounds, my fiancé Derek is one of my favourite things. Advantages: Diamonds, tanzanite you name it!!

...and it was not diamond, it was Tanzanite and I can say I have never seen a stone as beautiful as that with a gorgeous rich purple colour and you could see the variety of colours that had been created from the Tanzanite, it was at this time that I started dropping major hints to my other half at how much I loved the rings and had never seen any as beautiful for the prices that were in the Diamond Works. What is Tanzanite and where did it come from? For those of you that have not come across Tanzanite as I hadn't before I visited the Diamond Works it is a rare violet-blue gemstone which was discovered in 1967 at the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro and as the tour guide advised this land was set alight by lightning leading to the transformation of the crystals into the violet-blue stones.
