Bored for years I - Solitaire
Review of Solitaire by
Excelle
Advantages: It passes the time, it's a good version of a classic game
Disadvantages: It lacks a high score table, varied decks, and is a bit boring really!
...You know the scene – you're sitting there waiting for some long computer operation to finish, or you've got a lunch break at work. But if you're stuck in a big office building, what can you do? You can hardly bugger off or you'll get fired!
In the first in a series of many, I’m going to look at how we pass the time at such inopportune moments. You know, those little games we play for 5 minutes and you wouldn’t catch us looking twice at if we had a copy of Half Life in our hands.
- What’s this one then?
Solitaire - the classic. If anyone’s ever played a game on PC, it’s likely to have been this. And if anyone wants to play a quick Windows game, then this will also be the first choice. It’s simple, easy to play, and, well, it’ll keep you amused for a few minutes at least. We’...

SOLITAIRE CURED MY DEPRESSION
Review of Solitaire by
fruitloop19
Advantages: Keeps you entertained for a long period of time and can cure your depression
Disadvantages: doesn't look the most exiting games to play You don't get much sleep
...Hello i'm Helen and have been a fan of solitaire for 10 years. The game looks dull, simple and boring but once you get into it it's like time stands still.
Also i'd like to add that playing solitaire can take your mind off problems such as bad days at work, college and school etc..
Also when i was suffering depression i realized that playing these types of games such as Solitaire helped me.
I will explaine the rules for those who don't know.
You can't put the same colour cards on top of each other you have to have black red black, also if you have A red king and A red Queen you cant put the queen on the king as their both red.
If you have A black king and A red queen you can put the red queen onto the black king.
Also before you give up on the game thinking that there is no more cards to play with always look carfully as you...

BVS Solitaire Collection
Review of BVS Solitaire Collection (PC) by
bob2000s
Advantages: 380 solitaire games. More then 90 original solitaire variations not found elsewhere. Modify rules for any game.
Disadvantages: No disadvantages.
...Unique variations of solitaire is one of the things a solitaire lover seeks! BVS Development Corporation has just released the BVS Solitaire Collection 5.2, and you have to see it to believe it! This challenging software offers an amazing collection of 380 unique solitaire games and includes many game variations you will not find anywhere else.
You can modify rules of almost any of the included games, thus creating your own solitaire variation.
After installation, I tried out "Topsy-Turvy Queens" and before I knew it, three hours had passed! I might add that those were three very enjoyable hours as I pitted my many (ahem) skills against the computer. I played a total of 33 games and I won...(whisper) 12. But don't think I have given up because I will continue to play and hone my now doubtful skills!
Of course, "Topsy...

Spider Solitaire
Review of Solitaire (PC) by
vialdana
Advantages: quick and easy to play.
Disadvantages: very addictive for such a simple game
...Solitaire = A game for a single player. Usually of a simple nature where the aim is to beat your previous score, or complete the game. Spider Solitaire is a game traditionally played with two sets of playing cards, and is therefore somewhat harder to complete than the more traditional single pack solitaire games. The PC Version I own came free with windows ME when I bought the computer, so I don’t know where it could be purchased from, but I would imagine it would be included in some of the multi-game packs available as they usually include several solitaire games.
The Layout:
Two decks of cards are needed for this game. To start the game, 10 piles of cards are dealt in a row from left to right, with the first four stacks containing 5 face down cards with one card face up on top, and the remaining 6 stacks containing 4 cards face...

SOLITAIRE HEAVEN
Review of Solitaire Master 3 by
parkfields44
Advantages: KEEPS ME AMUSED FOR HOURS
Disadvantages: NO HOUSEWORK DONE
...sOLITAIRE MASTER 3 FROM EGAMES This is the game which I play every night. There are so many different solitaire games that even after three years; I've not gone through all of them. The one which I play the most is Sixty Thieves which uses 3 and 4 decks of cards. There are 9 games within the 3 and 4 deck games and I've played all of these but I much prefer this one. If I complete the game then my score is recorded but unfortunately, it shows how many times I've not succeeded. I would think that there must be well over 200 games so if you like playing Solitaire and would like a change then this is the game for you. All of the games have a help sheet which is very easy to understand so I try different ones when I'm bored . Some of the games are old games and t some I'd never heard of. I have lots of time on my hands since my husband...

Solitaire
Review of Solitaire by
Dawson
Advantages: Easy to play
Disadvantages: Far too addictive
...I am a total solitaire addict. This has been the case for a few weeks now. Every time I get on the computer my hand automatically selects the game and flicks it on. And I can't get off until I win.
Solitaire is best played on the PC. To find it, click Start, Programs, Accessories, Games, Solitaire.
The aim of the game is to get all the cards 'up'. The game starts with seven columns of cards, from 1 to 7 cards on each row, with the top cards overturned on each column. On the computer, there are 4 spaces in the top right corner of the window. Each of these is for the Ace of each suit. When the Ace is there, you can put the two on top of it, and the three, and so on until you get to the King, and when all four Kings are there, the game is won.
To help do this, you can lay cards on top of each other in their columns, but they must...

Solitaire on the PC
Review of Solitaire by
real_rob_writer
Advantages: Free
Disadvantages: Can get boring
...Apparently the most played PC game in the world isn't Quake or Doom, it isn't The Sims or Deus Ex - it is, infact, Solitaire.
Start>Programs>Accessories>Games>Solitaire is where you'll find this little game. Just like Minesweeper, everyones got this one! It even came with Windows 3.1, so even the most granddad of PC's can play this one.
Okey dokey then. It's a card game. You don't even need to play it on the PC, you can do it just as well with a pack of cards on your table at home. But the PC version is better, for the following reasons.....
* You don't need to shuffle or deal the cards, the PC does it for you.
* You can't get mad when you find your deck of cards is missing a card.
* The piles of cards can't get out of line.
* You can't cheat.
* If you get sick of looking at the same cards, on the PC you can change...

The Solitaire Mystery- interesting and puzzling.
Review of A Solitaire Mystery - Jostein Gaarder by
jehodgson
Advantages: A good mystery, interesting and strange ideas.
Disadvantages: Choice of phrasing slightly awkward, a slightly confusing depth of levels.
...The Solitaire Mystery is the book which Jostein Gaarder wrote prior to 'Sophie's World', still the most famous and best received of his works. As is customary for his books, things are not as straightforward as they may seem...
It tells the story of a 12 year old boy called Hans Thomas and his father, who embark on a journey to Greece to find and hopefully bring back Hans' mother. (Pretty standard fare so far.)
On the way, however, a series of strange events occur, beginning with a dwarf who gives a magnifying glass to Hans Thomas, and a baker who presents him with a bag of buns- one of which contains a miniature book with a strange story...
This is where things start to develop at a more confusing rate.
The book tells a story of a man who was shipwrecked many years ago, and as the story unfolds, a number of co...

Disadvantages: Bit boring really
...SKIP THIS
I say, didn't you notice the heading?
Didn't you see that you were to skip this?
Then WHY do you read on?
I assure you, you'll get nothing out of this.
So stop. NOW!
If you haven't stopped, you're only wasting your time.
This is the moment to show that you've got enough character to stop.
Didn't you understand?
S T O P ?
Now you're half way through and you're still going on.
You can't help reading the next line.
Or can you?
No, indeed I was right.
What on earth are you getting out of it?
Nothing, but you're acting as if bewitched.
There are only a few lines left, so show that you do have some willpower and S T O P !
But you're probably curious enough to keep right on wasting your time by reading these very last words.
Aren't you????
But you will learn about the game of Solitaire.
One of the many...
