Double The Chocolate Rush
Review of Cadbury Double Decker by
daylehall
Advantages: Taste beautiful, different to other choccy bars
Disadvantages: Fattening
...Up until recently I hadn’t really eaten many Double Deckers but after wondering over the local paper shop and wanting to try something a bit different, I am now hooked on Double Decker bars and they have become my favourite chocolate bar.
About The Double Decker
Double Deckers are made by Cadbury's who created it back in 1976 when the British public loved Double Decker buses. The name probably comes from the fact that the Double Decker has two layers.
Packaging
The Double Decker bar has a bright orange and purple wrapper. Double Decker is written across the front of the wrapper in white writing with the double being written in quite small writing and the decker in rather large writing. The description reads ‘Milk chocolate with smooth, chewy, nougatine and crisp crunchy cereal filling.’
Price
Double Decker's can be bought nearly...

A bus load of NUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review of Cadburys Double Decker with Nuts by
Suzanne8
Advantages: variety is the spice of life
Disadvantages: dont eat cold
...Double decker standard issue with nuts!!!!!!
Double deckers have been around for ages without any change and now there is a nuts version!!!!!!!!!
Surely cadburys could not improve on the master piece that is double decker??????
Oh yes they can!!!!
Double decker is a double layered product with combinations of crispy cereals and nougatine, wrapped in delicious Cadbury chocolate and now with nuts!!!!!!
It first came about in the 1970's, 1976 I think is the year of release. It is a great British invention following our love for the double decker bus.
The chocolate layer has thinned in recent years but the taste is still satisfying. The nougatine layer is soft and now has an added crunch with the layer of nuts added, there are little air bubbles in the nougatine that make if fluffy and light(ish).
You go through this soft layer...

Double Decker goes Nuts
Review of Cadbury Double Decker with Nuts by
Bollinger28
Advantages: Old favourite updated - delicious
Disadvantages: Nut allergies
...Oh no - not more chocolate. That's how my stomach and head feel today - I am in serious need of some rigorous detoxification -but that can wait until later on this week. First I need to make room for a Cadburys Double Decker with Nuts.
The original Double Decker was launched in 1976. Its name was allegedly derived from the British obsession with double decker buses in the 1970's (prompted no doubt by classic TV programmes such as "On the Buses" and the children's programme " Double Deckers"). The original Double Decker is two layered - the top layer is smooth nougatine and the bottom layer is crispy cereal. All this is wrapped in Cadburys milk chocolate.
So after nearly 30 years of popularity, Cadburys decided to revive and update the Double Decker image by the February 2004 launch of Double Decker with Nuts. The tag line...

chocolate heaven.
Review of Cadbury Double Decker by
omarragi
Advantages: big up top!
Disadvantages: bah-none.
...when people think of double deckers, most people will think about those big buses that cruise around London, not me. a double decker is the finest creation in chocolates bars to this day.
weighing in at a massive 65g it is the heavy weight of all chocolate bars. cadburys describes it as "milk chocolate filed with smooth chewy nougatine and crisp crunchy cereal. A twin layered product with interesting combinations of crispy cereals and nougatine, wrapped in delicious Cadbury chocolate".
the base of the bar is creamy, heavenly milk chocolate indulged with rice cereal. the cereal adds perfectly to the texture of the bar, making a lushous sound. creamy nouget is the next layer adding another texture to this bar. the whole bar is then covered in delicious milk chocolate...yuuuuum! double deckers are also flavoured with a little hint...

Double The Trouble!
Review of Cadbury Double Decker by
Jamie73
Advantages: Different to other chocolate bars, very tasty
Disadvantages: Not very good for waistlines!
...of the bar has a sort of rippled effect all along the top of the bar.
Taste
The Double Decker bar is very moorish and certainly different from you average chocolate bar. First, it has a layer of thick chocolate, followed by a layer of nougatine, and then a crunchy base with rice crispies inside. Nougatine is made from sugar / honey which is then mixed with a variety of roasted nuts This really does add lots of flavour to the already delicious Cadbury's chocolate. The different textures of the chocolate bar all contrast well together. You have the crunchy base, the soft chocolate on top and then the slightly chewy nougatine in the middle. It does state that the bar contains cereals which I assume are in the crunchy base as I often taste something similar to rice crispies when I am eating it. On the whole, this chocolate bar taste yummy...

Double the pleasure in one
Review of Cadbury Double Decker by
RobStead
Advantages: It's gorgeous and really good value for money!!
Disadvantages: Become a bit sickly after having a few!
...You've just had your lunch and are still hungry! Sound firmliar? Well it does to me and the best thing for these times on need is a Cadbury's Double Decker bar. For all of you thinking 'What is a Double Decker'? ...then the description on the wrapper will put your minds at rest. 'Milk chocolate filled with smooth chewy nougatine and crisp crunchy cereal'. Ok, now I'll describe it in more detail...
A Double Decker bar is in two layers, hense the 'Double' in its name. The top layer is of nougatine. This is soft and king of like marshmellow. Sometimes, this can be quite chewy. It is white in colour but there is usually pieces of chocolate indented into it. No Artificial covering is added into it so it can stay white. One down side is that if your Double Decker bar is kept in the sun, the nougatine is more chewy and can get stuck in between...

Now With Nuts
Review of Cadbury Double Decker by
Shanksey
Advantages: SOmething New
Disadvantages: Not that great
...of the bar.
The chocolate bar it self looks identical to the original type of Double Decker. Even when you bite into it, the only difference is the presence of peanuts. The bar is split into two layers. The bottom layer is crisped rice and chocolate. On top of that is a chewy nougat. The peanuts are to be found inside the nougat layer. (Just for the record, I’m as common as muck and therefore pronounce nougat as ‘nuggat’. Not Nougar.)
The textures in this bar are weird, but not wholly unpleasant. The gorgeously creamy milk chocolate is lovely and smooth. The crispy bit are…erm….crispy. And, the nougat and nuts is just odd. You’ve got a battle between chewy and crunchy and I’m not quite sure which one wins.
Flavour wise, there isn’t much difference between this and an original Double Decker. It does taste really nice...

Double Decker: You'll need more nuts than that !
Review of Cadburys Double Decker with Nuts by
melly2bad
Advantages: Quite chocolaty and reasonably priced
Disadvantages: Not fantastically nutty
...is the phrase on the side of the packaging and let me tell you it sure is crispy and crunchy.
When you bite into the chocolate you'll reveal two layers; your teeth penetrate the chocolate into the first layer of nougatine with nuts and crispy bits, then through to the second layer the crispy crunchy base, which is basically rice crispies held together with chocolate. These live up to the phrase crispy and crunchy; I had to turn the TV up a notch whilst eating one.
Unfortunately Nutty is not some thing that I would describe these double deckers as; sure they have a few nuts here and there but not enough to classify them as nutty.
Overall they are very tasty treat, but not one I will be running back to the shops for....

After thirty years Cadbury's puts another bus out
Review of Cadbury Double Decker with Nuts by
jammy_banana
Advantages: the nuts cut the sweetness of the original
Disadvantages: not good if you hate peanuts
...nougatine, crisp, crunchy cereal and peanut filling”.
Once I had removed the wrapper I could see that the Double Decker with Nuts looks just like a Double Decker from the outside. They are the same huge size and shape and both have those funny little three ridges along the top. However they smell quite different. Once again they both smelt strongly of Cadbury’s chocolate but with the Double Decker with Nuts there was a distinct aroma of peanuts. It was rather like how a Snickers would smell if Cadbury’s made them.
However taste is all important. It bit into the chocolate bar and was surprised to find that the peanuts were embedded in the nougatine. From reading the packet I had assumed that they would be underneath the layer of nougatine mixed in with the cereal filling. As with the ordinary Double Decker the layer of nougatine...

my bottoms quite nice too!!
Review of Cadbury Double Decker by
lazza123
Advantages: Good value, nice taste
Disadvantages: None really
...My second trip to the vending machine of the day saw me buying this, only to keep the wolf at bay you understand.
*** What is it? ***
A double Decker is a nougat/chocolate bar from Cadbury’s. The concept is that the bar has two layers, one chewy nougaty layer, and the other a crunchy layer.
*** What’s the wrapper like? ***
The wrapper in orange and purple, the purple id the “Cadbury’s purple”
This bar weighs in at 60g, but the whole bar seems so much bigger than the Toffee Crisp bar (in a previous review) In fact, if you put the two together, the Double Decker towers over the Toffee crisp!! It is about 9cm long, and about 3 wide and high.
The ingredient and nutritional information are arranged in a way that makes them very difficult to read. In fact the foreign worded ingredient lists are easier to read than the English – oh...
