My New Vacuum Cleaner!
Review of Electrolux Z2950 Velocity Cyclonic 1700W Uprig by
mightymuffin
Advantages: Excellent suction, reasonable price for a good named brand
Disadvantages: Extension hose not long enough & electrical cord situated too low down & a bit noisy
...My last vacuum cleaner was a Dyson and before that I've had two Hoovers, so Electrolux (as a vacuum cleaner) isn't something I've ever used before. I'd done no research on this cleaner but my last Dyson had given me so much bother over the last tweleve months and the other week it finally bit the dust, so I had to buy another one in a bit of a hurry.
It was about 7.30pm on Sunday night at Tesco when I bought this. As no other shops were open in my area, it was Tesco or nothing. My husband and I went into our local Tesco Extra to see what range of models they had available. There were about a dozen or so and I had absolutely no idea which one was best - I knew I wouldn't be buying another Dyson though! There were a couple of Electrolux models on display, but what initailly cought my eye about this one was it's colour - it's red...

Electrolux Fridge with Sparkling Water
Review of Electrolux ERES 31800 X by
madammadness
Advantages: Looks nice, Easy to clean, Dispenses cold water
Disadvantages: Cannot get gas for the sparkling water
...I bought this fridge in September 07 and it really is a very nice piece of equipment. It still looks brand new, even now. It's easy to clean, holds lots of stuff and the extra cooling area is handy for cooling cans. But for me, the feature that REALLY made me buy it was that I could connect it directly to my water filter and have cool sparkling water "on tap". I lapped it up :-)
However, less than a year later, I am unable to obtain any new gas cylinders or refill any of my existing cylinders. I have contacted Electrolux customer service and they have not been able to help. In fact, they gave me the run around! For this reason, I have to rate this item as "Very Poor", especially when you consider how much it cost. I wouldn't recommend you buy one of these fridges until Electrolux sort out the gas cylinder supply problem, Julie C...

Electrolux Fridge and Freezer
Review of Electrolux ERES 31800 X by
ambrigen
Advantages: Appearance and features
Disadvantages: Terrible customer service, product quality and accessory support
...I bought this fridge and its companion refrigerator in September 2007 from Comet. Nice looking pieces of equipment and the additional benefit of the sparkling water dispenser. Unfortunately, experiences with both products have been very disappointing.. I would have expected much better from Electrolux. Going through Comet just adds one extra layer of complexity (and difficulty for the customer).
- the fridge was replaced once and the freezer was replaced twice, all due to defective electronics that could not be repaired by technicians who claimed the product to be new and that they had not received full product training yet.. much time was spent chasing up repairs (and spare parts) on the phone
- the instructions manuals for the 3 freezers that we received were not written by a native english speaker (many mistakes) and the pages were...

Good modem for everyday
Review of 3Com Courier V Everything 56K by
iharsh
Advantages: Easy install, excellent support, high velocity, comfortable use
Disadvantages: Too high price, large sizes, looks not so good
...testing on lines of various quality the modem has revealed the following features in work. On a line of ideal quality the modem connected on the obviously underestimated velocity of 26400 bits per second and during work practically did not increase a velocity. The effective transfer rate has made 23984 bits per second. Attempt under duress to connect on a velocity of 33 600 bits per second did not result in success - modem did not connected. The statistics of the modem (command ATI11) showed, that on an ideal line the attitude signal/noise - 35,5 dB, and level of a source signal -19,3 dBm. On all visibility, the logic of work of the modem is those, that for given attitude signal/noise the modem be not capable to increase on a velocity more than 26400 bits per second. The blinking of the indicator ARQ, indicating on emerging of fail blocks...

Good All Round Broadband ISP
Review of Hi-Velocity by
pje1979
Advantages: Fast, Cheap, Unlimited
Disadvantages: Some Down Time
...I have been with Hi Velocity for about three months. I migrated to there Christmas special offer 1Mbit deal, this costs me £23.99 a month this has now increased to £29.99 as the special offer has finished.
Hi Velocity offer unlimited broadband internet access which means there is no need to worry about how much your downloading. Each account comes with up to 5 email addresses which can be configured using thier POP3 and SMTP servers, you can also access your email from there web site, as well as this 100MB of web space is included, which is more than enough for a really good personal web site. Unfortunately there is no news group access offered ny this isp.
Since I have been with Hi Velocity I have suffered some downtime about 6 hours in all and there has also been some speed issues which have now been cured. A point in their favour...

Velocity
Review of Velocity - Dean Koontz by
Roznrub
Advantages: Very compelling read
Disadvantages: None
...Velocity sure lives up to its name, a high speed compelling book.
The main character Billy is given a set of choices by a madman, either he does what the madman says or people die, and they do die!! If Billy goes to the police then more people will die. At first Billy does not believe ....only to be proved wrong as people do die as a result of his actions. His partner in a coma in hospital is also at risk and as a reader i went through all his emotions too.... You will follow Billy on a journey as he suspects the people who are around him .... i think that i suspected nearly all the characters....... brilliant!
The characters are a likeable bunch and Dean Koontz helps to get the feel for them with his great ability to allow the reader inside the characters heads and feel what they are feeling.
Dean Koontz is the master of twist...

Beginner's choice
Review of Scarpa Veloce by
DavidDruce
Advantages: Comfortable and durable
Disadvantages: unsensative, loose fitting, shallow heal
...This sturdy velcro shoe has become very popular as a first shoe and rental model. Its quick, secure closure and thick sole and rand make for a durable, comfortable, and allround boot.
The Veloce is a very convenient gym or crag shoe with its two opposed velcro closures and double pull tabs making it very fast to put on. However its strongest point is its durability; the uppers are suede and the rand is super thick. Countless gyms have a fleet of Velcose as their rental range for this reason, they outlast most other similarly prices models.
Ofcourse being to flat and slightly unsensative, this is not a shoe for the experienced climber. However as a first climbing shoe, its very hard to beat; functional, cheap and long lasting....

Bowel Loosener
Review of Velocity - Dean Koontz by
tuftie
Advantages: Strong characters, great narrative, scary.
Disadvantages: None.
...There are only a handful of books that have truly terrified me; The Shining by Stephen King, The Hellbound Heart by Clive Barker and Renegades by Shaun Hutson. Now I can add another title to this list: Velocity by Dean Koontz.
Billy Wiles is a barman in the Napa Valley. He lives a quiet, reclusive life; as he has ever since his girlfriend fell into a coma. One night after work, he finds a note on his windshield. Billy is given two choices: do nothing and a young schoolteacher will be killed, contact the police and instead an elderly charity worker will be murdered. Either way someone dies, and it's up to Billy to choose who.
The bodies begin to mount up as Billy receives more notes. The deadlines in which he has to decide become tighter; the choice of victim more personal. But Billy's no stranger to murder; he has secrets from his past...

Electrolux 500 series - lightweight & durable
Review of Electrolux - 500 series by
djhendra
Advantages: lightweight, long-lasting, efficient
Disadvantages: no longer available - find one secondhand/reconditioned if you can
...The 500 series of Electrolux vacuum cleaners was one of the best they ever produced. Long since obsolete - though still available in reconditioned versions - they were lightweight, efficient, easy to use and easy to maintain. Bag changing was a breeze, and even the drive belts were quite easy to change yourself without calling upon the services of a trained engineer.
The last of the 'proper' 500 series vacs was the 560E, which was subsequently replaced by the new Twin Turbo range which borrowed some of the 500 design, but added the carefully-considered functionality of being crap.
They all do it, don't they? Take the old long-lasting designs and bin them in favour of new ones which don't last and thus generate better turnover.
What a sad place the world has become. Please rate this opinion before going to slit your wrists...
