...I love reading these kind of reviews and learning more about my fellow Ciaoers, so it's only fair I share! Also the first few questions seemed rather fitting with St Valentines day just around the corner! 1. FIRST KISS My first kiss was with a boy called Wayne and we were both 10. He was my first experience of a 'proper' (but very innocent!) boyfriend. Up until then 'boyfriend' had meant saying you would go out with as many boys as possible just to beat your friends score but never actually speaking to the boy! Wayne would leave sweets on my desk, sometimes hold my hand at breaktimes and even gave me a card for my birthday. I had only ever kissed my parents before so was a bit shocked when he first aimed for my lips, but as he explained, his big brother kissed his girlfriend all the time! ...but replied "but I can learn" to everything. Unbelievably I got the job! The money was rubbish but I enjoyed learning. The office was above a butchers shop and once a week we would have to endure the smell of the meat wagon and the butcher making his dripping....ewwwww. I ended up going to college on a day release and passing my Certificate in accounts with credit. I learned something new each day and loved working there....I began to help with Health and safety and filling in the tenders and all manner of tax matters...although the boss never did let me have a go of the ball and chain! ...description can often be tedious and comes over as being pretentious, yet H E Bates' writing is neither. I finished this book feeling honoured to have been able to read such beautiful, pure prose. This is a love story, one of my least favourite types of novel. It is also very much about the innocence of first love and the slow realisation that life is not as easy as it first appears. It is this slant on romance that won me over. There is just the right mixture of hope and disappointment to make it a really realistic read and one with which I could identify. It doesn't matter that the book is set nearly one hundred years ago; it is still relevant to today's society. I was interested to see that the book was televised in the 1970s featuring Jeremy Irons and Peter Davison. I suspect that it would be difficult to portray the book properly... Read review

It was also to be able to give something back to the charity who's research was able to help my mum and many others through their cancer experiences, that is why I chose the cancer research shop instead of the many other charity shops in the same area. 4 ~ First Love ~ I had many "first loves" that turned out weren't truly love just mixed up teenage emotions, illusions of love that with a little age and experience were proved to be little than fleeting romantic feelings, but then dont most of us. I do love my husband and while you could say that he is my first love its is the kind of love at risk of fading, sadly all love in those kind of relationships can, no matter how perfect and special it seems at the time, it is possible to simply fall out of love, to grow apart. ...memory. 2.FIRST TIME YOU HAD YOUR HEART BROKEN **************************************************** I had my heart broken with this girl. It's not a joke! In fact, we went out during one year. But one day, she told me : "I am very sorry, but our love story stops right now!". I said :"why?". I believed that I could marry her. Moreover, I told to my mother that one day Anaïs and me will get married! She answered me that we can not continue to go out together, because I left from her heart.
