Bruce Lees Fury in Fist of Fury
Review of Fist Of Fury (Limited Edition) by
Lidless_Eye
Advantages: Excellent original fight sequences
Disadvantages: Editing and production is showing its age
...This film is an expression of rage set in the martial arts genre. Bruce Lees second film, Fist of Fury, is my favourite Bruce Lee film.
Made in 1972, the story is set in Shanghai, where Bruces character, Chen Chen, returns to Shanghai to attend the funeral of his Kung-Fu master who died under mysterious circumstances. As the school goes through a transition period from one master teacher to another, a rival Japanese school challenges the Chinese school, and after a degree of racist taunting, envoke Chen Chen to fight.
Chen Chen later realises that his master was poisoned, fueling his fire to avenge the death of his master by killing the Japanese responsible.
Unlike the Big Boss and Way of the Dragon, Fist of Fury has a very powerful story, giving reason for the astounding fight sequences. This film contains fight sequences where...

Lightening quick martial arts
Review of Fist Of Legend DVD by
Lidless_Eye
Advantages: Amazing fight scenes and choreography, superb martial arts and story
Disadvantages: English Subtitles
...Fist of Legend is a 90's remake of Bruce Lee's Fist of Fury. Jet Li plays the main role, and displays his world beating Wing Chun style in a succession of excellently choreographed fight scenes.
The film starts out as it means to go on, with Jet Li taking on a group of racist Japanese martial artists who believe the Chinese should not be taught in their schools. A fight scene results, with Jet Li defeating the group of Japanese in a stunning manor.
All of the fight scenes are realistic and believable, with no excess use of fake blood, or wires to aid acrobatics. Jet Li demonstrates his amazing speed and agility against a number of opponents, whether armed with swords, attacking in groups, or one on one.
I'm pretty sure the Kung Fu scene in the Matrix was inspired by Fist of Legend. The fight scenes are in a similar style...

Legend of a film
Review of Legend Of A Fighter (Special Collector's Edition) (Subtitled)(Wide Screen) by
twheeler
Advantages: Solid story line + good acting, excellent Martial Arts
Disadvantages: Action is slow for a Kung-fu movie
...A truly ground breaking martial arts film that was huge in the 80’s and no one has written an opinion. Well here’s mine, this is a genius martial arts movie. It combines a entrancing story line, with great choreography and some of the most technically accurate fight scenes ever filmed. Any martial art practitioners out there will appreciate the way the film shows the different styles from Japan and China.
However I get ahead of myself. This movie is set in China back in the day when Kung-fu was family based and each style was only taught to relatives. It focuses on a boy in one family whose father thinks he is so poor at fighting that he refuses to teach him. This boy will however grow up to be Fok Yune Gap a Chinese hero that also inspired Bruce Lee’s ‘Fist of Fury’ and Jet Li’s ‘Fist of Legend. In fact this is the prequel...

A Master at work.
Review of Fist Of Fury (Limited Edition) by
nebcsa17th
Advantages: Great action
Disadvantages: Dubbed
...Whilst channel hopping on the old remote the other night i came across "Fist of Fury" on channel five. I was quite supprized to see this classic Bruce Lee film on TV. I had only ever seen it on my DVD set of Bruce Lee or on a video that I onced owned, when they were all the fashion.
So naturaly, being a big fan, I tuned in to watch as i hadnt seen it for a while. What supprized me even more was that it was also uncut!
This in my opinion was the film Bruce Lee made which had the most fight scenes in as opposed to the others, Which had thier fair share of fighting in, were more structured in thier story lines.
The base of the story, like many old chinese films, was of revenge. In this case the revenge was for his teacher. Bruce Lee plays Chen Zhen who single handed takes revenge on the culprits. The enemy is a japanese run school...

The Moment, The Sound, The Fury
Review of Save Yourself - Nora by
RazzaLazza
Advantages: The final three tracks of the album are fantastic.
Disadvantages: The first even tracks are fairly average.
...'Save Yourself' is the second studio album from the New Jersey hardcore punk band that is NORA. This is hardly the hardcore punk album of the century, it is however a fairly decent album of hugely hard hitting hardcore music; for most of this album nothing particularly special is offered by the band here, the music is very heavy however and always the vocals pack a powerful punch. The guitar work also is strong here, the riffs are incredibly heavy, and the music of NORA will most definitely have you fist pumping in the air.
Ten tracks are present here, 36 minutes of music are offered up by the band and for the most part the exact same hardcore punk formula is followed. NORA is not the most innovative hardcore punk band in the world, the music is pretty impressive however and something a little different is most definitely provided...

Fist Of Legend
Review of Fist Of Legend DVD by
Murray123
Advantages: Very fast Kung Fu, interesting plot, Jet Li
Disadvantages: Laughable dubbing
...Set in the year 1937 in Japan/China this modern remake of Bruce Lee's 'Fist Of Fury', starts out as it means to go on.
It begins with Chen Zen (Jet Li) attending school in Japan, where he is attacked in class by the Japanese for being Chinese. This is one of the main plot lines in the film, the presence of Japanese troops in China, and the rivalry between the two. The first fight scene alone is enough to convince anyone who is interested in Kung Fu to watch the whole film, with Jet Li showing amazing speed, and fighting not to hurt the opponants, but to stop them, dislocating joints for example so they can't fight.
Throughout the film, there are different fight scenes, some 1-on-1, some 1 on many, some many on many, and each one is brilliantly choreographed. The fights with Li in especially, as he is so quick and as the film shows...

A musical version of an autopsy
Review of Necroticism - Descanting The Insalubrious - Carcass by
Heidious
Advantages: The essence of extreme metal
Disadvantages: ......I'm struggling to find any....
...After one poorly produced album, followed by one of the most influential grindcore albums of the last decade. Necrotism is an equally successful album in this much overlooked genre.
Carcass seemed to have settled on a particular sound and with a new member (Mike Ammott) it's only natural that what is spewed out in the recording studio is nothing more than good, great and better. Each title is introduced with what appears to be surgical banter from medical practitioners, talking about decaying bodies and the likes. Perhaps a little tedious if they drag on for a bit but once the track kicks in we immediatley forget about it. Songs such as Inpropagation, Corporal Jigsore Quandary & Incarnated Solvent Abuse really aim for the jugular. The riffs are low tuned, gut wrenching fists of fury the likes of which will make any metal fan glee...
