A Chorus of Voices .............. Molly's Reviews
Review of A Chorus of Voices - Kurt Messick by  TOMSDATTARmolly

Advantages: lovely work
Disadvantages: none I found

...Title: . A Chorus of Voices Genre: Poetry Author: . Kurt Messick Line/Publisher Dry Bones Press ISBN: 1 931333 24 6 Gratifying Read Recommended 5 stars The Review The poems presented within the covers of A Chorus of Voices are grouped into First Poems, where the offerings include a thought provoking I am not ee cummings, the poignant I saw two men, hope in a friend is (any) sadness in love is a prison and one engaging work I particularly enjoyed stars. Sonnet Sequence, runs a gamut from nature, man, god, night, stars, my own particular favorite in this grouping was the first with its view of the sea, sand pipers, whale songs and sand. Non-Conclusions presents silent music with violins without strings and flutes without air, thoughts about those who have gone before in I look at the moon and a brief moment... Read review

Lush Chorus
Review of Boss Super Chorus CH 1 by  Paolo1

Advantages: Lush sound
Disadvantages: CE5 better for same price

...This pedal produces a sweet chorus effect which has served me well for a couple of years now. The chorus can be altered from a slight effect, to a shimering chorus with great depth. The pedal includes effect level, depth, eq, and rate controls. Having the depth and effect level high produces a lush chorus sound. reducing these produces a more subtle sound, and increasing the rate produces an increasingly "wobbly" sound. The sounds are of excellent quality, However, the eq is a single knob as opposed to the CE5 Chorus Ensemble which contains separate treble and bass controls. As such I would not recommend buying the CH1 and instead get the CE5 as it produces the same range and quality of sounds for the same price, but it allows slightly extra tone control. The construction is excellent as with all boss pedals and I have no doubts... Read review

Sort out Those Choruses Boys
Review of Cut The Crap - The Clash by  Champ666

Advantages: Only if you Want To see A Grown Man Cry
Disadvantages: Loads

...pretty amazing live. So was the title of Abomination apt for this album lets us dissect the beast and see, shall we……. Dictator – Generic punk rock with eighties keyboard effects, with excessive sampling of news broadcasts in the background make it almost un-listenable. Imagine Go West going punk my god when The Clash fell they really did fall. Though respect is due for some of the more experimental aspects of this one… Dirty Punk – Again is more generic Punk but when compared to the mess that was the first song is an absolute joy to listen to. We Are The Clash – Yet more generic punk with an absolutely horrible 80’s drum sound with lots of reverb and pointless shouty chorus vocals. Remember what I said about what happened when the Clash fell….. Are You Red ..Y – Possibly the closest that they ever got to doing synth... Read review

Singular Sensation
Review of A Chorus Line DVD by  LIZKEMPO

Advantages: Great Music and Dancing
Disadvantages: Very Dated

...A Chorus Line, 1985, Run Time 113 Approx 'How many people does he need, how many boys, how many girls?' The Story: The film starts with hundreds of hopefuls lining the streets waiting to audition for a part in the chorus line of a musical. When they enter they are given a number and start to warm up. They are then made to perform several dance routines in various styles in front of the harsh director Zach played by Michael Douglas. We watch as one by one they are asked to leave, their dreams of stardom crushed. Eventually we are left with a dozen dancers but with only eight places left they are asked to dig deep inside themselves to win a place in the line up, this is about so much more than dancing. 'Tit's and Arse won't get you jobs unless they're yours' My thoughts: A Chorus Line originally written for the stage... Read review

Bring On The Dancing Choruses
Review of Rush Of Blood To The Head, A - Coldplay by  indiecater

Advantages: Sprinkling of guitar/vocal escapades to rival any intrepid explorers adventures.
Disadvantages: The search for the holy grail finds itself down a cul-de-sac.

..., it's just that it adopts the stance of a recently woken up idea. So much of what's good about Coldplay originates from their bright chord manoeuvring. It is the sparkle that polishes off what could otherwise go unnoticed but with 'In My Place' the guitars merely hover when you want them to soar. Breezing in on an acoustic air 'God Put A Smile Upon Your Face' introduces notoriety with some warped playing. The chorus is as streamlined as you would expect but the lead up is a tad wearisome. At least the energy is there and the added instrumental malevolent tendancies shield the lack of pretty aural aesthetics. Trouble, it seems, was ready to brew on the ill-timed 'The Scientist'. With Ian McCullough sitting on the singers shoulder a lot of the tension is diffused and the dramatics are left to a January-esque (see the Poptones label... Read review

Superb Swedish Band
Review of Don't Bore Us, Get To The Chorus - Roxette by  blondgem

Advantages: -
Disadvantages: -

...NB: Before I start the image above is actually the incorrect image for the album! I was once asked the question, If I was stranded on a desert island, but I was allowed to have 5 CD's with me, what would they be? Strange question but true! Although when I think of this question I can still remember what the answers were originally however over the years they have somewhat changed, although Roxette's album Don't Bore Us, Get To The Chorus still remains in that Top 5 albums that I would have selected even though its over ten years old and they don't seem to make any new music any more, I still find myself listening to it on a regular basis. Roxette for those of you that don't know are Swedish and the band is made up of Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle. The pair go back as far as 1979, the year that I was born, however they were... ~~A nonstop singular singing-dancing sensation~~
Review of A Chorus Line by  digitalenvironmentalist

Advantages: A remake and inspirational production
Disadvantages: Nothing except that it is not showing in West End

...LAST SUMMER I had the chance to watch this musical in the US. Having spent a long holiday in California, I had the opportunity to watch this phenomenal stage production before it will be scheduled to open in Broadway late of last year. A Chorus Line is a 1975 Broadway production that captured more than six million people worldwide during its 15 years run. I was lucky enough to witness its first revival shows in San Francisco's Curran Theater. It was a last minute decision to watch on the last few days of the show, and I did not face any difficulty to secure a good seat at $45 in the balcony section of the theatre. This legendary Tony Awardee's musical is a story based upon the lives and experiences of a group of Broadway dancers auditioning for the chorus of a new show. A group of girls and boys tried their luck to take part... Read review

Fr. Kurt Messick Bares His Soul~
Review of A Chorus of Voices - Kurt Messick by  jankperegrine

Advantages: lyrical, spiritual, honest poetry
Disadvantages: couldn't make sense of a few; use of parenthesis

...in a laboratory. I could (and will) reread A Chorus Of Voices in a week or year and suddenly what I didn't understand the first time, and there are many poems, will leap out at me with exciting meaning. Still I'll try to share my impressions and favorite images of the poetry that Kurt wrote in the late 1990s for the defunct Themestream.com, some previously published in The Thirteen Apostles and poetry journals in Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom. There are three sections: First Poems, Sonnets and Non-conclusions in 95 pages. To start out we should take note of his title poem that provides the framing for the rest of his artistry. It is also printed on the back of the book to underscore its importance and I'll offer it to you now: A chorus of voices, Straining to sing songs That birds in distant forests Have taught... Man a ribald rake, Man is Nature's sole mistake
Review of Best Of Gilbert & Sullivan, The - D'Oyly Carte Opera Chorus & Orchestra by  Newfloridian

Advantages: Not well known but is an important bridge in the historic cycle
Disadvantages: Not well known and quite dated

...again the CIAO title word limitation has caught me out. The reference comes from the seminal anti-male couplet sung by Lady Psyche to the chorus of graduates at the beginning of Act II. “Man is coarse and Man is plain … Man is more or less insane … Man’s a ribald … Man’s a rake … Man is Nature’s sole mistake” Notable songs: “If You Give Me Your Attention” - King Gama (the ‘de riguer’ introductory patter song) “For A Month To Dwell In A Dungeon Cell” - Arac, Guron, Scynthius STAGE PERFORMANCE After the initial run, Princess Ida did not reappear on the stage again until 1922. It then lay fallow again until the 1950s. Prior to researching this review, I knew nothing of Princess Ida apart from the King Gama song mentioned above. I am not aware of any recent professional stage performances. OTHER RESOURCES This two... Read review

Stripped down classic from synth duo.
Review of Chorus - Erasure by  mark_allen71

Advantages: Autumnal electropop for rainy afternoons
Disadvantages: Only lasts for one pot of tea!

...Autumn is a great time for colour, reflection, soul searching and listening to old albums. I have been combining all the above while watching the rain trickle down my back window enjoying the heat from the radiator and drinking endless cups of hot sweet tea! While engaged in said activities I found myself listening to this Erasure album for the first time in a decade, thinking it deserves new appraisal, in these post electroclash times. With even my fellow Staffordshire-bred songsmith Robbie Williams trying to sound more like Gary Numan than Gary Barlow these days, Chorus is as relavent as ever. Its 1991 release coincided with a great time in my life and therefore became a soundtrack to that; living in halls of residence at university and then moving to Holland for a year. It was six years into Vince Clarke and Andy Bell... Read review
