very bad first impression
Review of Formac Disk Oxygen Hard drive 250 GB by
dave8999
Advantages: ease of connection
Disadvantages: shockingly bad complete lack of guidance for set up
..., and here it is, all working properly (you lie device manager)
Look on the disc, masses of folders and files, all gibberish and unreadable by my computer. Finally find a manual, contains a 16 page PDF document. Quite possibly the worst manual I have ever seen. It's not until page 10 that you get a bit about setting it up on your computer. Then all it tells you is to get windows to do it.
Now I am not an expert so having sought some advice, I identify that I have to do some with with disk management, and eventually work out myself that it needs a partition, drive letter and formatting. Quite important, and some guidance from Formac would have been nice.
It's now working, it's very quiet, and lightening fast, but first impressions do count, and the stress of setting it up, with the gradual dawning that it may have to go back with all the hassle...

Another quality Apple product. A+
Review of Apple Cinema HD Display by
luketheking123
Advantages: Widescreen display
Disadvantages: Could be a little cheaper
...Well what can I say, a perfect display from a top notch company. Expect nothing less than perfect with Apple products. I used to be a huge PC fan but with the Intel chips and great designs of the Macs these days i'm really into my Apple products these days. As a Systems Administrator at a large design firm, I have recommended these products over another alternative (Formac for instance) ok so the Apple display costs quite a bit extra, but it's money well spent. The Formacs display quality cannot even begin to compare with the Apple display. The resolution is great and as with all LCD screens, the refresh rate is best viewed at 60hz for optimum performance. These will soon be replacing all of our CRT LaCie monitors as they're nowhere near as bulky/heavy and offer even better quality....

Great Screens, compatible with PC
Review of Formac Gallery 1740 Platinum by
Darkle
Advantages: Great looks, Low refresh rate, built in USB hub and reliable
Disadvantages: Non-PC display connetor
...The Formac 1740 is a fantastic TFT. I have set a number of these up for clients and the refresh times, viewing angles and the sheer size of the screen make them ideal for watching DVDs, playing games and generally using the computer. Gone are the days of ghosting that used to be associated with TFTs.
Great as these are, I would like to make sure anyone intending to buy one of these is aware of a few points which may cause hic-ups in setting up if you intend to use this on a PC.
1. As the brand name would suggest these are intended "FOR MACs" as in the Apple Macintosh. Only recently within the past couple of years have the manufacturer really started promoting them and making them properly compatible with PCs. As such, some of the monitors still come with an ADC connection which is the standard for Macintosh computer displays...

Great Screens but read before buying
Review of Formac Gallery 2010 by

Good Game
Review of Simcity 3000 (PC) by
laserquester
Advantages: more stuff, better graphics
Disadvantages: higher specs needed
...Sim City 3000 is, somewhat unsuprisingly, the sequel to Sim City 2000. Made by the Excellent, Maxis, it is a vastly improved version, btter graphics, more challenging game play, more buildings and features for your city, an all-round improvement. E.G More leisure amenities and Landmarks. Also Resi, Ind & Comm zones now all have the choice of light, medium and high this time.
Yes, O.K so if you are on a tight budget Sim City 2000 is much the better option. But if you can spare the cash then treat yourself. But the PC specs you require will be a twee bit higher than if you were to stick with SC2K. The Requirments are;
95/98
P166 (233)
32MB RAM
230MB HARD DISK SPACE
4X CD-ROM (8X)
(4 MEG Video Card)
DIRECT X 6
Recommended in brackets, otherwise it is minimum requirment...

Make out on the cuddle couch...
Review of The Sims Hot Date (PC) by
Shufflebum
Advantages: Loads of new ways to enertain your imaginary friends
Disadvantages: Sound and graphics can be jumpy.
...The Sims Hot Date is the new and exciting expansion pack from Maxis/EA Games, following on from the success of The Sims, Sims, Livin’ it up, and Sims House Party. Hot date was released in the UK in November, and according to an assistant in PC world in Derby has sold well, and as I write it is number 12 in the Amazon.co.uk ‘Hot 100’ PC games. I eventually bought via Amazon.co.uk, as they offered one of the best prices around for the game (16.99 pounds sterling).
~~ THE TECHNICAL STUFF ~~
There are a few system requirements for this game:
· Windows 95 or 98
· The Sims installed
· 266 MHz Intel Pentium or AMD processor
· 64 MB RAM (128 MB is recommended if running other expansion packs)
· 4x CD/DVD-ROM drive
· 600 MB free hard disk space, for game saves
· High colour 2MB video card with DirectX 7.0 compatible driver...

DeutscherBengel
Advantages: good
Disadvantages: nothing
...Hello dear Users!
Today I would like write about a music- Single. I searched in my CD collection
and I found “Love don’t a cost a thing” from Jennifer Lopez. She is one of the most popular stars in the music business and this naturally
not to injustice. By numerous films, and disks it made itself a very
good reputation. But now to the disk...
On the Cover I do not see much. The Cover is already sexy, the background
is white. Down is quite small JENNIFER LOPEZ. and besides still
the title of the single. When result to the
Cover I could say that it is times something else, but so madly is
it non me is again then missing nevertheless unique the beautiful face
of the Latino beauty.
At the start of the piece come in such a way which like drum impacts,
then comes already Jennifers voice, it accompanied...

Basic cheap computer - readily upgradeable.
Review of Apple Power Mac G3 - PPC G3 300 MHz by
summi335
Advantages: Cheap to buy and massively upgradeable.
Disadvantages: Not as compact as an iMac. Limited bus speed.
...volume hard drives are getting very cheap on eBay, with 40 GB drives often around £30, and larger ones slightly more. If you have a rev 1 board and require more than one drive, then a cheap PCI ATA controller card will allow you to add more drives.
Faster video is readily available in the form of Radeon 7200 and 9600 cards, which can either, replace the original or complement it to allow multiple monitors. The ForMac Proformer cards are best avoided, as they are not supported past OS 10.2 (Jaguar). As the PowerMac supports VGA, any monitor from a PC will also work. This is a great step forward from the previous beige G3's which still had the Apple DB15 connection.
There is no on-board SCSI on these machines, but it too can be added by inserting a PCI SCISI card, which might also be the basis of fast SCSI RAID if you wanted to investigate...

Simulate Life
Review of Simlife (PC) by
mandyco
Advantages: Very challenging game, can create your own animals
Disadvantages: May not be everyones cup of tea
...Sim Life was the forth game in the Maxis Sim series.
First, there was Sim City then Sim Earth, Sim Ant and then Sim Life.
Sim Life was definitely my favourite and the most challenging. When I bought this game it came on four disks and the user manual was huge.
The basic idea of Sim Life is to simulate life. You are presented with a large map, which is split into blocks; the idea is to populate the areas. You can populate the areas with certain plants and animals. Then watch how they get on, in these conditions. Your animals live just like the real thing they have babies, die and even get eaten by other animals. You may think this sounds pretty boring, its not there are some very special features in this game. As animals progress you can get mutations, so the characteristics of the animal change.
Still not convinced?
The game...
