A Fitting End
Review of Greatest Hits III - Queen by
DaGeeza
Advantages: Classic songs
Disadvantages: None
...Greatest Hits III brings the trilogy of Greatest Hits albums to an end. It was long awaited, but it was definitely worth the wait. This is the first album to be produced by the group after the death of lead singer Freddie Mercury. Some of the songs on the album are from the Freddie Mercury tribute concert, so it includes songs with George Michael and David Bowie. It is definitely worth buying, if not only to just complete the trilogy. It is another classic by one of the most successful groups of all time and a fitting end to a great legacy....

Pure Freddie
Review of The Freddie Mercury Solo Collection - Mercury, Freddy by
lucybradly
Advantages: Affordable, classic collection.
Disadvantages: None.
...Being a collector of Freddie Mercury and Queen works I put this Solo collection on my Christmas list just gone.
I was really pleased that EMI decided to release such a product as not many people appreciate the solo career Freddie had.
Mr.Bad Guy was a fantastic album and I feel very underated. When I played this album to my partner (not really a Queen fan) he loved it. I hope that people buying this Solo collection will also feel the same.
The whole Solo package offers three CD's in total, Mr.Bad Guy, Barcelona; a compilation of operatic tracks and a Bonus CD. It's a great selection and a wonderful opportunity to own the works of Freddie.
My favourite tracks include I Was Born to Love You and My Love is Dangerous. Anyone unfamiliar with Freddies solo work may be surprised by the synthetic sound of these tracks, however, I feel...

Remarkably brave
Review of Innuendo (Limited Edition Vinyl Replica) [Remastered] - Queen by
CliveS
Advantages: Wonderful final album, packed with humor and reflection
Disadvantages: None
...This last album from the full line up of Queen was a remarkable album when one considers Freddie Mercury was dying. The lyics of the variuos tracks all testify to a different way of feeling and all demand a closer inspection. "I'm going slighty mad" must have been Freddie's humor coming through in spite of his difficulties and "These are the dyas of our lives" sum up what many people must feel when faced with the end. The most moving track for me must be "The show must go on", the power of Mercury's voice hides his frailty - yet on listening to the song, it never fails to give me goose bumps when I listen to the power behind the lyrics and consider how close to death Freddie Mercury was....

Freddie lives on!
Review of Made In Heaven (Limited Edition Replica Vinyl) [Remastered] - Queen by
chrisfisherman
Advantages: A memorable CD with songs from his last months
Disadvantages: None
...Made In Heaven was the first album Queen released after Freddie Mercury's death in 1991. It contains songs such as 'Too Much Love Will Kill You' and 'Made In Heaven' which both did well in the UK charts.
The front cover of the inlet shows Freddie at the recording studios in Montreux, a moving picture for all Queen fans.
I bought this product as I have been a Queen fan for many years and the CD is dedicated in Freddie's memory. It was also good value for money, priced at £10.99.
It does not give a good idea of how the style of Queens music has changed over time but the lyrics show what Freddie went through in the final stages of his life.
The CD is well worth buying if you haven't already purchased it. The lyrics are very moving and this is one you will not regret buying....

Three albums for less than 20 quid
Review of The Freddie Mercury Solo Collection - Mercury, Freddy by
minaturehero
Advantages: Bargain, and some good songs aswell
Disadvantages: A few duff songs too though
...Freddie Mercury was never that successful outside of Queen, aside from his hit with Monserrat Cabelle, but what we are given here is an indicator to what might have been had he lived on to develop his solo talents a little more.
For around 18 quid you're getting three albums - his debut Mr Bad Guy, the classic Barcelona album and an extra disc containing all his other solo stuff such as The Great Pretender and Love Kills.
It is a bargain.
Okay, so the quality of the first album is a little lacking - there are some good songs here but certainly no classics. It plods along and suffers from some simplistic arrangements more than bad songwriting. As ever though, Freddie's vocas are very impressive.
It's the second album that is the good one here though - a real surprise because I thinkmost people think that the idea of Freddie Mercury...

Mercury goes Solo
Review of The Freddie Mercury Solo Collection - Mercury, Freddy by
rveb
Advantages: Digitally remastered version of eagerly sought after tracks 3 CDs for £18.00!
Disadvantages: The price of the full collection - £120.00
...The new Freddie Mercury Solo Collection was released this week and to my surpise it is affordable!! You can pick up a 3 CD (yes that's 3 Cds) for just £17.99 - a bargain I am sure you will agree! There is of course the more expensove de-lux version costing £120.00 but for any fan (not serious collectors) the 3 cd choice is ample. If you are familiar with Freddie's sole work then you will recognise all tracks in the package but for the first time, in my expereice, you can own the wonderful "Larry Lurex - I Can Hear Music" track which Freddie did for a joke just before Queen hit the big time! And, of course there is the Mr Bad Guy album , the original of which is getting rarer and rarer - I recently sold a Mint US vinyl copy for £50.00!! So it is a real joy to have a 2000 digitally remastered version - if you are looking for an original...

Freddie has fun
Review of Freddie Mercury Album, The - Freddie Mercury by
Sunnybunch
Advantages: Poppy and happy, great one for singing to
Disadvantages: VERY poppy, maybe a bit camp for some
...Now before I start this review properly I'd just like to warn everyone that I'm a massive Freddie Mercury/Queen fan so my review is written from the perspective of someone who knows all of Queen's hits and a lot of their other music and background. If you're a Queen fan, especially if you enjoyed the Made In Heaven album, then you will love this album. If you're not so fussed on Queen, stick with me anyway, Freddie is a little different on his own, slightly more poppy and there are a few ballads in there for good measure.
The Freddie Mercury Album is, well I'm not sure if it was an album which Mercury created himself and released singles off, or if it's just a collection of varying songs he's done on his own over the years. Some songs will be familiar, some not so, but the variety shows that Mercury was both talented and loved his music...

An interesting tribute album
Review of Greatest Hits III - Queen by
Simoncook1
Advantages: Good trubute album to Freddie Mercury
Disadvantages: Will not gain new fans
...With the success of the two Greatest hits albums by Queen, it was inevitable that after Freddie Mercury’s death, there would be a third Greatest hits album.
The album came out, and rather than just being a re-mastering of the original hits, the album became more of a tribute album to Freddie featuring several songs from the tribute concert.
There are seventeen tracks on the album featuring some strange and wonderful combinations of artists. The music is typical of queen mixing their rock and roll style with a few ballads.
The better songs on the album are:-
Under Pressure 0 (rah mix with David Bowie).
This was an excellent combination track that was produced with David Bowie while Freddy Mercury was still alive. The combination of the two great vocalists add a lot to this up-beat rock and roll tune. Although the lyrics...

Freddy Never Sang Better
Review of Innuendo (Limited Edition Vinyl Replica) [Remastered] - Queen by
flopsy
Advantages: Powerful songs, Freddy never sang better
Disadvantages: The end
...The last album released in Freddy Mercury's lifetime "Innuendo" is an interesting collection of tracks. What is particularly striking is that this is the first Queen album not to give individual writing credits for each song. Perhaps after all the rivalry over the years the group had matured into a homogenous whole where the identity of the group was more important than any one member of it. Still, you can roughly guess who wrote what if you are familiar with the writing style of the band. There are twelve tracks, each with a different sound. "I'm Going Slightly Mad" has Freddy singing "I'm knitting with only one needle" with only a touch of irony. "These Are the Days Of Our Lives" is a poignant song looking back on old times. As we all know Freddy was in the last stages of dying of Aids so this gives depth and meaning to this sort...

fynci.mynci
Advantages: Mercury and May at their best.

Brighton Rock - What a way to kick off an album. Best known for Brian May's virtuoso performance this is virtually a five minute rock guitar solo of the utmost quality. Brilliant use of rhythm guitar with falsetto vocals from Freddie Mercury and Roger Taylor portraying the holiday romance theme...
