Scrumptious Salmon en Croute
Review of Tesco Finest Salmon en Croute by daylehall

Advantages: Delicious pastry and filling
Disadvantages: Expensive and only available at Tesco

...Croutes and costs £4.29 so each Salmon en Croute costs £2.14 which is a little on the expensive side compared to some other products on the market. Cooking To cook the Salmon en Croute, you simply take them out of the packaging; place them on a baking tray for 25 minutes on Gas Mark 7. The Salmon en Croute cooked perfectly in this time and smelt delicious about 10 minutes into the cooking time. The Salmon en Croute The Salmon en Croute itself is fairly large, around 4 and a half inches long by 3 inches wide and about an inch in depth. Before this product was cooked, the pastry looked nice and fresh and had small indents along the top of it for decoration. After the Salmon en Croute has been cooked, the pastry had risen on it, meaning that it was now about 2 inches deep. As I began to eat the Crute, I noticed just how light and crunchy... Read review

Yummy recipe for those in a hurry
Review of Recipes for Main Courses by treasureruby8

Advantages: Quick yummy recipe
Disadvantages: Salmon might be expensive

...This is a recipe I came up with when I was doing shopping really. All you need for it is a slice of salmon, 1tbsp butter, garic cloves, chives, a fresh lemon, white pepper or black, pinch of salt. The most important thing to remember when dealing with fish is to buy it when you need it. Frozen fish loses some of it's freshness. With this recipe, the salmon desn't need to be skinned as the skin gives it a crispy edge. Heat the grill on medium heat for 5 mins and use foil paper on the grill pan to avoid the salmon sticking. Place a non stick frying pan on a hob at medium heat. Let it warm up and then put the butter into the pan and let it melt wholy. Place the skewered salmon in the butter and keep each side in the butter for 4 mins. On the skinless side, put a pinch of black peper and salt. Throw in the chopped garlic and transfer... A Very Versatile and Economical Product
Review of John West Pink Salmon by ashford

Advantages: Not Expensive Tasty Versatile
Disadvantages: Not Many

...Although I have to confess that my very favourite canned fish product is red salmon that is tad expensive -so for everyday use, realistically pink salmon is a more appropriate and affordable choice. OK so its pink salmon for today. Next question is which brand should I buy ? Well to me it is pretty clear- I usually opt for a tin of John West pink salmon. Made by John West at Liverpool, this tinned product is ,in my view, utterly reliable. John West is part of the huge Anglo Dutch multinational company, Unilever, and they certainly know a thing or two about canned products. John West pink salmon comes in attractive cans with the John West logo and the product is available in most grocers, supermarkets and some fishmongers stock it. Get some nice fresh baked crusty bread or a soft roll or a baguette, generously spread with fine butter... Read review

Caviar for the Posh, Salmon for Everyone
Review of John West Pink Salmon by NoLogoGirl

Advantages: Available everywhere, fresh taste
Disadvantages: a little pricey

...It is salmon. The fish that produces (salmon) caviar. There is a reason that salmon pate is regarded in posh circles; yet little thought is ever given to the bearer of such fruits. Back to the salmon. Fresh. Barbequed. Gorgeous pink meat. Smoked. Dried. It is all simply delicious no matter what form you try it in. So how about tinned. John West’s pink tinned salmon is quite simply, delicious. It is a little more pricier than the similarly tinned tuna, but the taste difference is more than a few pence worth of savoury delight. The tins come in the regular 250grams at a price of £1.30. Don’t be confused by the red salmon (although delicious) because there is a difference. Do not expect the meat in the tin to appear like tuna does. The colour isn’t consistent throughout the meat. That is because of different layers... Read review

CREAM GRILLED SALMON
Review of Recipes for Main Courses by ROBCOLLINS144

Advantages: FISH IS GOOD FOR YOU.
Disadvantages: YOU HAVE TO COOK IT YOURSELF.

...Now i don't know about the rest of you but salmon has to be one of my favourite types of fish. This dish is the food of the gods and is definately a dish to impress. Salmon, smoked and smokeless
Review of Everything that starts with S ... by SueMagee

Advantages: Wild salmon, freshly caught and simply cooked.
Disadvantages: The stuff you buy from supermarkets.

...parchment on top of them and served (hot or cold) with a salad. Remove the paper package with a fish slice or it can collapse! Add a bottle of white wine and fresh fruit to finish and you have a splendid meal for a summer’s evening. I’ve noticed that people tend to be nervous of cooking a whole salmon, but there’s no need to be. Forget about fish kettles (unless, of course, you have one, in which case you’ll hardly need my advice!) and cook the salmon in the oven. Get the fishmonger to do all the preparation for you – that’s what they’re there for. You can include removing the head in that! I’ve never been too keen on seeing something that I’m about to eat staring at me reproachfully. Take a large piece of foil and lay it on a baking sheet. Oil it. I know the traditionalists say to use butter, but, if you’re going to have the salmon... Read review

Like Santa, This May Only Appear Once A Year
Review of Tesco Organic Smoked Salmon & Citrus Pepper Terrines by tune57

Advantages: Delicious And Truly Organic
Disadvantages: May Only be Avaliable At Christmas

...I discovered these couple of days after Christmas in Tesco and being a lover of smoked salmon decided to try them. We have in the past had a similar variation of these from both Sainsbury's and Marks and Spencer's, but unlike those, these from Tesco are Organic. These Organic smoked salmon and citrus pepper terrines were found in the fresh fish chiller alongside the Prawns, and other smoked Salmon Products. These are new to Tesco as the words NEW can be seen in large red letters on the cardboard sleeve. The black cardboard sleeve also displays printed pictures of holly leaves, which makes me wonder these are just new to Tesco for the Christmas period and as they have not been available on my last two visits since, I am beginning to think my thoughts were correct. Priced at £3.99 you get 2 individual servings of an organic smoked... Read review

Salmon Rushed Dinner?
Review of John West Pink Salmon by Olly_Plimsoll

Advantages: convenient, tastyish, versatile
Disadvantages: bones, flavourless, flaky

...but a single tin of John West Pink Salmon. Well, I tipped it in anyway, thinking my meal could only have been improved... The fact that the salmon comes packed in brine, rather than the oil or whatever that we're more used to from tinned tuna, was a plus for me. It gave a bit of a sauce to what is normally a very dry dish and I didn't add any other salt in the cooking process to compensate. When you open the tin, there's basically a huge ragged chunk of pink flesh staring up at you that's been jammed in tightly. There is a lot of skin, there are a lot of bones. Please note that these are both things that the fishmonger will remove for you very skillfully at no extra cost if you buy your fish fresh. And this is the thing, really. Using tinned salmon, which is a lot more expensive than tinned tuna (this 200g tin cost me about 90p, but I think... Read review

Stupidly expensive sandwich!
Review of Tesco Finest Poached Salmon & Cream Cheese Wrap by longlegz

Advantages: It's a limited edition
Disadvantages: It's an absolute rip off and not even that tasty

...I'm fuming! Went to Tesco's today to buy a sandwich for lunch - decided to treat myself to this one as I'm a big fan of salmon and the blurb on the front made it sound yummy… 'Poached salmon flakes with a cream cheese and cucumber dressing with crispy fresh leaf, hand wrapped in a soft barmarked tortilla' Well, it was a terrible let down! You know the feeling - you sit at work all morning thinking how hungry you are, and dreaming of what sandwich you'll buy once you can escape your desk and head to the shop. Then you see something on the shelf that appeals, buy it get back to your desk to eat it and the disappointment eats away at you for the rest of the day (hence this review!) The size of the sandwich isn't too bad I suppose - what really annoyed me was the fact that there was no salmon at all in one half on the wrap, and a lump... Read review

An easy fishy main course
Review of Recipes for Main Courses by MadeinScotland

Advantages: super simple to make
Disadvantages: its gourmet!

...I love Salmon, it is so versatile, light and not too expensive. Tonight I bought three fillets for about £3.80 in Asda, which was very good value indeed. So tonight campers, I am going to share with you my famous recipe for Salmon Fillets in a maple Syrup and Lime marinade. This is a real taste sensation boys and girls! To feed four, all you need is the following: *4 Salmon Fillets (try not to get the tail end and it doesnt matter if the skin is on or not, if it comes with the skin on, you can easily remove it will a sharp knife) *1 Tbsp of Maple Syrup - Rowse do a good one, available in most supermarkets *1 lime, widely available in supermarkets across the country, and abroad! *1 Tsp of parsley, either curly or flat leaved *1 Tsp of chopped chives - a good thing to have growing in your kitchen! *sea salt and fresh ground black pepper...
