YAMAHA FS1-E MOPED
Review of Yamaha FSi-E 50cc Moped by
pertheswede
Advantages: Cheap to run, a good investment, friendly owners community, fun
Disadvantages: slow, expensive and scarce parts
...The Yamaha FS1-E, or more commonly known as a "fizzy" was the must have moped for 16 year olds from it's UK introduction in 1972 to the late 70's, when in 1978 the government introduced new legislation to restrict the maximum speed of moped to 30mph. I include myself in that category and was the proud owner of 2 fizzy's at the time. It had the best styling compared to Honda, Suzuki, Gileras etc and was by far the most reliable. The Yamaha FS1-E has a 49cc single cylinder 2-stroke air cooled rotary valved engine with a four-speed gearbox. It originally was only available in on colour, Candy Gold, and this was know as the SS model. The SS stood for "Sixteener Special". In 1974 a second colour was introduced, Popsicle Purple and the model name on the side panel was changed to the now infamous "FS1-E". The model was FS1 and the suffix...

Yamaha FS1-E 50cc moped, 1976
Review of Rockhopper A1 FSR by
cashman44
Advantages: Great handling, build quality, fast for its time.
Disadvantages: To find one now it will cost you a grand !
...electricuted when it rained by pressing the horn!
The competition.
At the time we had all been taken to school on the local clapped out coach, dribbling out the back window watching the older boys with their shiney new mopeds (what hero's we thought ).
Now we were the hero's , all 8 of us slip streaming the coach home,( what twats we were) all around me were fantic super T' s Ti's, caballeros, Garrelli 50's, Honda ss50's. All these bikes , barring the Honda, were faster than the Yam' on the flat (chin on tank ! ) 45 mph, but the great thing was, as soon as we all got to a hill, my position in the coach race went from...2nd last , to first place, due to the design of the Yams engine .
The FS1-E had a rotary disc valve induction system, totally different set up from the rest, the 4 gears ratios were longer than the Fantics, ( wa,wa, wa, up...

A Level Film Studies - My Fortè
Review of Film Studies by
Coolfox1988
Advantages: Interesting, Practical, Branches your film taste
Disadvantages: Recommend taking the course in a well equipped college/school
..., but after the film studies course you will have gained enough knowledge about the art of making a film to carry on and take a degree in a field of film, such as production or editing.
To take the course you are usually required to have at least 5 GCSE's of grades A-C. You are also advised to have at least a grade B at English GCSE because the course is very theoretical with essays and coursework which make your fingers bleed! These essays and coursework assignments are so great though that it doesnt matter how much your hands hurt you can still go on and write more.
"The Course Structure"
The Advanced Subsidiary is studied in the first year and makes up 50% of the full A Level. The course is divided into modules and during the year three modules will be completed.
Module 1 (FS1): Film - Making Meaning
Candidates...

Disadvantages: easy to upset customers, terrible customer service
...one out.
April 25th
Me: how' the order going?
FS: What order?
Me: My broadband order.
FS:
1- Oh, the order went through but no-one told BT to activate your number. It's best you cancel and start again. I'll put you through to an advisor.
2- You haven't received your free modem because you cancelled the order.
Me: When did I cancel the order?
F/serve: Today.
Me: You told me to!
F/S: I'll pass you on to someone.
3- You cancelled your order on the 25th.
Me: You told me this.
F/S: It was cancelled on the 19th automatically.
Me: Why?
F/S: It's just automatic. As is the order going through to BT.
Me: I was told no-one told BT.
F/S: Your address doesn't come up on our system.
Me: It did 10 minutes ago.
F/S: Your area isn't broadband enabled.
Me: Er.... yes it is.
F/S: You'll have to re...

Wot? No T-Rex?
Review of Ten things that remind me of the 70s by
The-Operator
Advantages: They're a long time ago
Disadvantages: As above.
...at the door during their inexperienced fumblings. And no, my parents still have no idea this went on.
The Fizzy
Almost without exception, adolescent boys in the 70s craved one thing. With the onset of puberty came the need to experience a satisfying throb between one's thighs. And for a 16 year old lad the only release from this lust was long, probably purple (or if you wanted, yellow) and lovingly polished to perfection. Fnarr fnarr…Affectionately known as the Fizzy, the Yamaha FS1E was most boys’ introduction to the nasty, dirty and Grebo infested world of the motorbike. It was a moped; the footrests doubled as pedals and went round but you’d have trouble pedalling it anywhere because the pedal gear ratio seemed like 86000:1. But it was a moped with attitude. Back in those days, mopeds were u | | |
