A Lifebook to make Life Easier
Review of Fujitsu Siemens LifeBook T4210 - Core Duo T2500 2 GHz - 12.1" TFT by
Odysseus4
Advantages: Really small and easy to transport
Disadvantages: Gets a little hot plus finding a smaller enough case not easy!
...My husband bought this laptop to replace our large and ageing Toshiba laptop - without telling me I might add, but I am so pleased with it that I forgive him easily! For the technically minded (which I am not very) the following are the specs:
Fujitsu Siemens Lifebook T4120
Intel T2400 @ 1.83Ghz Core Duo
512mb Memory
12.1" LCD Display
CD/DVD Re-writer
Running Windows XP Pro Tablet PC Version
The main selling point for us (OK well for him) was the compact size and relatively light weight. The machine is fast and silent but does get rather hot if used for long periods - which means I need to get a lap tray for my husband's knees! Battery life (in the real world) is an acceptable 2 hours or so.
Now - what makes this laptop different from others on the market is that the screen rotates and folds down over the keyboard...

GREAT Fujitsu Siemens LifeBook C1110
Review of Fujitsu Siemens LifeBook C1110 - Pentium M 1.4 GHz - 15.1" TFT by
tom_tom66
Advantages: cheap, easy to use ,all your internet need, good dvd rom/cd-rw
Disadvantages: quite slow on start up
...Ive had this laptop now for about a year and i havent had anything wrong with it but to be honest it isnt the best laptop in the world as it is abit slow when loading up and it could do with a bigger hard drive as it only has a 20gb. but if you only want a laptop to go the internet ,read your e-mails and to watch and burn dvds i would highly recommend it to anyone and as it is a bit old you can get one for around £149.99 which is realy cheap for a laptop which to be honest isnt that bad! and im sure if you have a look on ebay you could get one fo around £70 which would be a bargin! so if you are looking for a laptop which is cheap and does all the your internet , email and media needs you need to get yourself a Fujitsu Siemens LifeBook C1110....

M 7400
Review of Fujitsu Siemens AMILO M-7400 - Pentium M 1.7 GHz - 15" TFT by
leontata
Advantages: Nice design
Disadvantages: No DVD reader or writer
...Over all, this is a nice laptop. Slim and sharp design by Fujitsu Siemens Amilo makes it much thinner than it actually is.
Intel Pentium M 1.7Ghz, Front Side Bus 400 Mhz seems not to be very powerful but it is not slow at all. Games like Counter Strike or Warcraft will have no problem. I've tried running Counter Strike at 1024x748 and the result was awsome, 99 frames per second.
However, the mainboard and Bios are quite old. Intel 82855 doesn't support extending memory bandwidth for its Intel Extreme 2 Graphic Card like others do.
512 Mb PC2100 Ram doesn't seem to fit with the processor as its speed only at 266 Mhz. Replacing a new pair of Ram at 333 Mhz or 400 Mhz will give this laptop much more ability in multitasking and more chance to avoid crash.
The keyboard is also really nice, comportable, hard button and support...

A great little runner!
Review of HP Compaq Business Notebook nc4010 - Pentium M 745 1.8 GHz - 12.1" TFT by
nicolemorgan
Advantages: Available cheaply second hand. Runs well.
Disadvantages: Can overheat - I would advise buying an extra fan.
...on this model which I feel makes it aesthetically pleasing. As for the size, it has a 12.1 inch screen and the laptop is only about 14 inches in size. If you want something that really is easily portable, then this is for you! It is lightweight and can easily be packed into a bag and taken wherever you need it. Since mine is second hand, the battery life is poor so I run it off mains power. However, you can buy replacement batteries relatively cheaply and I do intend to do this at some point.
I'm not an expert when it comes to computer specifications but this does everything I need it to and is fast enough for my needs. I did some research before buying and the 40GB hard drive and 480MB RAM are more than adequate for my current needs. I use this as my main PC at home but if you wanted if you'rea hardcore gamer, you may need to invest in another...

Review of Toshiba Portege M200 - Pentium M 745 1.8 GHz - 12.1" TFT by
lukeshunni05
Advantages: easy to use and great for traveling
Disadvantages: expensive
...into a little compartment built into the laptop itself so you dont have to worry about loosing it.
Technology. 5/5
The Toshiba Portege M200 provides the user wth state of the art technology and with wireless connection and connection for USB cables it is great for anyone who enjoys surfing the internet. It also comes with windows XP as standard andbuilt in programmes to let you know how to work the laptop correctly and use your pen to it's full ability.
Value for money. 3/5
Although i think that this laptop is an amazing and great piece of technology i do feel that at the lowest price of around £ 1, 500 it is al ittle expensive....

My Toshiba Tecra M2 - Warming up to Progress
Review of Toshiba Tecra M2 - Pentium M 745 1.8 GHz - 14.1" TFT by
BawBaw
Advantages: Light, versatile, packed with features
Disadvantages: It's still a laptop
....)
◄Bits and Bobs►
The edges of the Tecra are loaded with discretely embedded features. There is an on-off switch for the wireless antenna, a system indicator panel, and a microphone jack. Two UBS ports, a PC card slot, an SD card slot, an S-video port, a Network port, and an i.LINK port are also provided. Other ports are provided for an RGB monitor and a modem, ang of course there is a parallel port.
◄Warranty►
To date, I've had no problems with my Tecra M2. If servicing were necessary, it would be coordinated by my company's IT service. But if there are problems, the IT folks won't hesitate to tap the 3-year warranty for parts and labor. The battery has a 1-year warranty.
◄Price►
My company purchased my Toshiba Tecra M2 though an arrangement that resulted in a hefty discount...

I love my Sony Vaio VGN-S2XP
Review of Sony VAIO S2XP - Pentium M 745 1.8 GHz - 13.3" TFT by
niglom
Advantages: Very light, fantastic screen, good battery life
Disadvantages: 512 meg memory is a bit mean, Sony setup
...this laptop with the ATi Mobility Radeon 9700 graphics adapter so you'll be able to play the latest 3D games available.
Adobe Photoshop is both memory and processor hungry. I've upgraded the RAM from the standard 512 to 1 gig (Kingston) and with this mod the unit runs as quickly as my 3500 64 bit AMD desktop.
With a weight of only two kilo's 2kg, the VGN-S2XP is small and light enough to be carried in my case or in a rucksack when I'm on my bike.
The Intel Pentium M 745 processor, which runs at a clock speed of 1.8GHz and supported by the standard, but upgradeable, 512MB of memory. Not the fastest but fast enough to run most (Photoshop, Office, Power DVD, Adobe Premiere) applications easily.
There's a thin but fast DVD RW optical drive, 2 USB 2.0 ports, a modem port, a LAN port and a Memstick slot.
An ultra portable notebook...

Fujitsu Siemens LifeBook S5582 Excellent Buy
Review of Fujitsu Siemens LifeBook S5582 - PIII-M 800 MHz - 13.3" TFT - with port replicator by
krash_control
Advantages: Light-weight, Robust, Fast by P3 standards, slim look, soft touch keyboard
Disadvantages: External Floppy Drive, Poor Speakers, PS2 port on Docking Bay only
....
The docking bay is very light and even with it connected, this laptop is still smaller and lighter than most full laptops. The docking bay has the floppy connection (which seems to have it's own sort of connector and not the usual USB), serial port, lpt prot, usb port, screen port, lan port and two PS2 ports. The actual machine without the docking bay has 2 USB ports (one on the side for mouse etc, and one on the back for modem, printer etc), sound ports (mic, speakers, line in), 56k modem, lan port, 1 PCMCIA port, screen port and infra red.
The speakers are a let down, but the sound card is excellent so if you use head phones or desktop speakers you won't be disappointed.
The DVD/CD Rom drive is reliable and fast, and to upgrade it is as simple as unplugging it.
The screen is lovely and although it may sound small, is actually the same...

***X series - Versatile & Flexible***
Review of Lenovo ThinkPad X41 Tablet 1866 - Pentium M 758 1.5 GHz - 12.1" TFT by
mightyd
Advantages: Swivel Hinge, Handwriting mode, Fingerprint Recognition, Awesome Features
Disadvantages: Expensive
...hundreds of passwords but instead you now have a fingerprint, which nobody can forge, copy, or use, unless someone somehow manages to chop your finger off. But I believe that's very unlikely!
The colour is sleek and quite nice although it would be better if it was available in a silver colour. And weighing approximately 1.8 kilograms, which is less than 2 bags of sugar, you can easily say that this is extremely light and if you want to take your PC tablet away from home, you easily can with no difficulty at all. The dimensions are stated above but to get an idea, it is slightly larger than an A4 piece of paper which couldn't be more of a perfect size.

Amilo M7400 built to last
Review of Fujitsu Siemens AMILO M-7400 - Pentium M 1.7 GHz - 15" TFT by
cdisxm
Advantages: sturdy, fast, slim, elegant, feature packed.
Disadvantages: poor quality sound.
...I bought an M7400 in Dubai and has been around the world with me many times since. It is without the best laptop I have ever owned. It has been dropped, kicked, sat on, but due it has survived all of it. Any other laptop would have given up long ago. I am always amused to read all the negative feedback on Fujitsu-Siemens' web site. It seems the company's support leaves much to be desired. (at least to home users. I hear the support for corporate is excellent)
OK, everything did not go perfectly. Initially, there were some blue screens in the early days caused by the Intel display drivers, but there problems were solved by updating on Intel's site.
Why am I writing about an old laptop? Because I am yet to see something that can stand up to it.
I am so happy with this laptop, that I now keep it at home permanently, and am...
