Lickin Good !
Review of Green and Black's Organic Ice Cream by
anwar
Advantages: lots
Disadvantages: calories
...I am not really an ice cream lover but the last time I was shopping in Tescos I spotted a tub of organic green and blacks vanilla ice cream in the freezer cabinet. Well what I actually spotted was the special offer sign! I love green and blacks organic chocolate so thought I would give this ice cream a go.
The company
*************
Green and blacks is a small company based in south London. Founded in 1991 they are best known for their delicious organic chocolate. Green and Blacks only supply organically produced food. Their philosophy is that organic products and fairtrade are inextricably linked, something I would not disagree with. Organically produced food which does not use pesticides or other chemicals has to be better (well in my book) for our enviroment, those involved in the food production as well as the consumer. I don...

Green and Blacks Unwrapped.
Review of Green and Blacks Chocolate by
wulise
Advantages: Good for you, the small independent farmer and the enviroment.
Disadvantages: A little expensive than Cadbury's Chocolate
...Many people would say that all chocolate is the same. Well I beg to differ. Green and Black’s Organic Chocolate is made for anyone who enjoy a rich flavour and smooth texture.
I am very aware of environmental concerns and love to buy organic food. In 1991 Josephine Fairley and Craig Sams set up Green & Black’s in with the aim to make an organic chocolate. There philosophy was to create a pure product of unadulterated luxury that in turn would also be less harmful to the environment. Now surely luxury and caring for the environment is a contraction in turns. Not so! No chemicals or genetically modified ingredients enter in this chocolate making process, thus ensuring that Green and Black’s Organic Chocolate is one of the purest chocolates on the market today.
Green and Black are pledged to protecting the planet, thus explaining...

Not 'Green and Blacks', what the devil is it?!?
Review of Montezuma's Chilli Chocolate Bar by
Cheesychip1
Advantages: To some people it could be nice.
Disadvantages: horrible taste, looks like 'green and blacks' it may confuse you
...Not green and blacks at all, what is it?
I first picked this bar up accidentally I am afraid to say. Yes it was suspiciously placed next to the 'green and blacks' chocolate. And well sill me picked it up thinking it was my usual dark chocolate 'green and blacks'. The similar packaging and colour is probably what did it. At the till I wondered why it scanned through a little cheaper than normal but I figured it was just on offer or something. So I continued packing the bags.
When I got home and retired in front of the telly with my feet up ready to watch my favourite soap. I was HORRIFIED it's not green and blacks at all! WHAT THE DEVIL IS IT? Not dark chocolate, no its chilli?!? Well, chilli flavour chocolate? What a load of rubbish never had I heard of such a thing. But I decided to try some. I wasn't to chicken I ate a whole...

Green and Blacks Easter Egg.
Review of Green and Blacks Chocolate by
waterlilly
Advantages: Quality, very moreish.
Disadvantages: Expensive.
...I’ve never had a sweet tooth and chocolate is not my favourite food. Once I had tried the Green and Blacks Organic Chocolate I was a chocoholic, now when I go shopping my favourite treat is Green and Blacks chocolate.
The actual chocolate is great, it is very dark and of a high quality surpassing every other brand. The cocoa content is high and the sugar content is quite low for a chocolate.
As Easter has just passed I received an Easter egg from my husband, a Green and Blacks Dark egg. Inside the very professional looking box you get, a large bittersweet dark chocolate egg (70% cocoa) and six mini praline mini eggs.
I tried the mini eggs first, and I found them very nice, the chocolate was extremely rich and the praline was smooth unlike other brands it actually tasted of chocolate and not sugar. I was reluctant to eat the big egg...

A cheaper choice... but is it good?
Review of Diplomat Green Tea with Mango by
sottovoce82
Advantages: Very cheap
Disadvantages: The more expensive kinds taste better
...Diplomat green tea with mango
(50 teabags)
Replacing black tea with green tea can be a little expensive, that's why I wanted to find a cheaper kind of green tea that lasts for a long time. Once I found a kind of green tea in Aldi called Diplomat for £0.89 and I thought I should try it. There were different flavours like jasmine, lemon, earl grey, etc... but I chose the mango one. This tea is not only cheap, but each box contains 50 teabags, so it's a very good bargain.
This box of Diplomat green tea with mango contains in addition to green tea, 3% mango powder. This means it is not 100% natural, and, unfortunately, the number of calories it gives is not written on the box. If you smell the teabag itself, you will be pleased by the sweet scent of mango. However, when you finish brewing your tea, the scent of mango becomes very faint...

A very original blend
Review of Twinings Green Tea Pineapple & Grapefruit by
petal99
Advantages: Good for you
Disadvantages: Slightly bitter
...I love tea, there is nothing better than a nice cuppa to kick start your day or end it in style.
What I didn't know though was that some teas can actually be really good for you! In our more health concious days we are learning (and possibly bombarded) to go back to nature and make the most of the benefits it can give us. As far as my small knowledge goes I am aware that apart from normal black tea we have white tea and also green tea which have very good properties and are rich in antioxidants and anti-carcinogens.
Black teas mostly come from plantations in Africa, India, Sri Lanka and Indonesia while green teas come from countries in the Far East such as China and Japan, like for example Japanese Sencha, which is a green tea.
The difference with other teas is that these leaves are light green and are not fermented and produce...

The Elixir of Long Life
Review of Green Chartreuse by
ashford
Advantages: Very Aromatic. Herby Classic Liquer
Disadvantages: May not be liked by those who dont like aromatic drinks
...and the big supermarkets usually have this popular liquer in stock. To be frank it is ages since I bought a bottle of the stuff so I am not sure of its currennt price in the market.
Afficinados say to really enjoy this aromatic drink, drink it when it is very cold, even on the rocks.Green Chartreuse can also be enjoyed as a long drink. It also goes splendidly in a veritable range of cocktails- Bijou Cocktail, Black Wolf, Cat's Eye, Emerald Martine, Flaming Dragon, Green Poison, Sleigh Ride, Spring Feeling Cocktail and St Patrick's Day are just a few of the cocktails that bartenders use Green Chartreuse in.
This aromatic, herby, liquer makes a lovely after dinner drink and I have enjoyed a glass or two after several "gourmet" meals in recent times. It is highly aromatic so it might not appeal to everyone but I have something of a liking for "herby...

Who knew that 2 colours could taste so good?!
Review of Green and Blacks Chocolate by
Museness
Advantages: Fair trade, organic, and divine!
Disadvantages: Slightly more expensive than most chocolate, but worth it!
...Well, I first experienced Green and Blacks dark chocolate a couple of years back when one of my friends insisted that I tried some! Since then, I have to agree with her verdict, it is some of the nicest chcolate that you could ever hope to taste! Much nicer than chocolate that is in a similar category to Cadburys chocolate and Galaxy etc, the darker Green and Blacks chocolate makes your mouth water with it's bitter sweet taste, and will make your taste buds want it every time you crave some chocolate!
Green and Blacks chocolate come in several varieties and flavours for those of you who aren't a fan of the darker chocolate, but mainly they are dark chocolate. The flavours include Butterscotch, Ginger, Espresso, Cherry, Hazelnut Almond and Brazil, Dark (70% cocoa solids), Milk (34% cocoa solids), Maya Gold (the first product to achieve...

Black Books Season 3 - see it!
Review of Black Books - Series 3 DVD by
randomosity_prevails
Advantages: One of the best series ever produced!
Disadvantages: The last one made :(
...Books. (A brilliant episode - well-acted, funny, and interesting.) Julian Rhind-Tutt (Mac from Green Wing) also appears as a charismatic travel writer.
For me, this is the best season of Black Books that was made. The writers have also produced shows such as Father Ted and Smack the Pony, so the scripts are sharp and witty. The acting is fluid, with very good character maintenance. The diverse nature of the show means it appeals to many brands of comedy, and is definitely a good investment.
Currently available:
Amazon -£14.99
CD-Wow - £13.99
HMV - £5.99
(All prices correct as stated on store website on 16/01/2007.)
The DVD contains some brilliant out-takes and deleted scenes, though unfortunately there is no commentary on this series, as there was with the others. The quality of the other special features, and the show itself makes up...
