toni and guy acadmeny
Review of Toni and Guy by
kitty_l
Advantages: excellent haircut always coem out with a different hairstyle
Disadvantages: not for people who want a classic cut
...Well I have been getting my haircut at Toni and guy academy for over 2-3 years and I have to say I love it each time I go there!
Well an academy is where hairdressing students cut models hair. Make sure you know what haircut you want as you are sent to different locations.
For trims and color go to St Christopher place nearest station is bond st. I had a trim there and the guy who cut my hair was spot on in what I wanted! So the hair cut was 10/10.
Another time I was sent to Knightsbridge one... I had a women cutting my hair I showed her a picture of what I wanted... and totally cutted the opposite... nice layers but she cut a really heavy fringe into my hair... which took me two years to grow back properly.
At the waterloo location you get more funky looking hair as the students there are more advance... I liked the haircut...

The Academy Is ... disappointing
Review of Santi - Academy Is (The) by
ollie19
Advantages: A few good songs
Disadvantages: Bad production and "Everything We Had"
...I am a very big fan of the first effort from The Academy Is titled 'Almost Here.' The Chicago based pop punk band, fronted by william Beckett, delivered a highly original and enjoyable debut album in 2004, released through the record label Fueled by Ramen. Fueled by Ramen have already brought us such bands as Panic! at the disco, Fall Out Boy, Cute Is What We Aim For and pretty much any of the other bands consisting of American twenty-somthings with girly hair. The Academy Is fits nicely into this subgenre of pop punk emoish US bands which have been flooding our radios and stereo's in the past few years.
I brought The Academy Is second album "Santi" in its first week of release back in April 2007 keen to hear more from a band which contained much promise. The album's bizarre name; "santi" is short for "Santiago" and dates back...

Toni & Guy Academy
Review of Toni and Guy by
nataliegg
Advantages: Haircut for £5 or FREE
Disadvantages: Takes 2-3 hours
...).
This is an unbeatable offer, as you know, most hairdressers charge about £35 – £50, sometimes more!
***What to expect***
Appointments are almost every day at 9.45 am and 1.45 pm.
Arriving at the academy you go up to the 2nd floor to the reception area. Here you pay your £5 or hand over your voucher.
You are greeted by Toni and Guy staff, who want to find out exactly what you want done to your hair. I was asked whether I would mind being a demonstration model. I was shown the haircut they would want to do but it was a little too outrageous for me so I declined.
After taking your coats and being put in a white robe you are ushered to the 3rd floor. You are seated in a large room with a mirrored wall. Everyone sits a long line and waits for the students to get started. You are offered mineral water to drink in the meantime. The atmosphere is very relaxed...

Fame Academy - Toni and Guy style
Review of Toni and Guy by
daisydaisym
Advantages: Freebie haircuts, friendly service,
Disadvantages: May take longer than a normal cut, as the tutors will double check everything!
...Before you read the rest of this review you need to know 2 things about me
1/ I HATE going to the hairdressers. Ever since a hideous haircut as an 8 year old that left me teased at school, and traumatised for life!!! And again, at 16 with a Toni and Guy's Stylist who just wouldn't listen to what I wanted at all!!! I left with big, bouffant, backcombed US soap star hair, which surprisingly didn't suit a 5 foot nothing school girl!
2/ I also hate people coming up to me on the street and trying to sell me stuff!
So, it was a very bizarre and unusual set of circumstances that found me this morning sitting in the Toni and Guy Training Academy on New Oxford Street, acting as a model for Rob, who was about to be assessed on his technique for cutting a classic bob! I'm not sure who was the most nervous, him or me!!!
HOW IT ALL CAME ABOUT...

An institution full of slapstick comedy and cops!
Review of Police Academy DVD by
LR_17
Advantages: Everything
Disadvantages: Nothing
...Cattrall. Mahoney's love interest. A spoilt little rich girl, the police academy is the last place you'd expect her to be, but she wants to be different, meet new and interesting people. Quite frankly, she's bored with her old life and wants a little excitment.
Lt. Thaddeus Harris
Played by actor G.W.Bailey. This is the person the cadets answer too. He's an instructor at the academy. He's short, dumpy, has a bad hair cut and an attitude worse than a rhino. His trademark line would have to be: "You people are going to hate my guts for the rest of your lives." This guy will make your life a misery and makes a drill instructor look like a timid kitten.
Cadet Moses Hightower
Played by actor Bubba Smith. Cadet Hightower is black, tall and has the strength of an elephant. You'd better not be racist or your going to get it in in the neck...

Great funky haircuts at the Advanced Academy!
Review of The Vidal Sasoon School Of Hairdressing by
yellynh
Advantages: A modern, edgey hair cut for a bargain!
Disadvantages: Very time-consuming, can be quite boring, and a sore bum.
...creative and if I wanted a classical cut I should go to the other school.
He will automatically direct you to their number if you wish. I on the other hand would much prefer an 'out there' hair cut.
I booked an appointment for the week after (all the slots seem to be booked pretty quickly so I suggest you have a day free on the following week from booking). The time slots are 9.30am and 13.30pm. I picked the morning. So far so good - the man answering the phone seemed nice enough! Very friendly, and offered advice on the phone to which academy was more suited to the haircut I was looking for!
...The Day
I went on the tube to Bond Street Station which according to a map was a 4min walk from. Not knowing which exit to get out of however, I got a little lost not knowing which road was which. I called the Academy, and they were happy to give me...

Toni and Guy's student hairdressing
Review of The Vidal Sasoon School Of Hairdressing by
darklady2002
Advantages: free or cheap haircuts by academy students
Disadvantages: no choice- took ages to grow back to normal length wearing a headscarf most of the time
...I am not a youngster, I was in my 40s when I was pounced on by a student of T&G in Covent Garden. He loved thick curly hair, and raved over my hair type which quite honestly always has been an annoyance to me, being uncontrollable and frizzy. I had always worn it shoulder length or longer, so I insisted that if I modelled for his student exam, he should retain the length. I also asked him how long it would take. He whisked me off to the student training academy and some five or six hours later released me again with a style that I hated. I wanted to cry because the more I said stop, the more he continued to cut it to about a one and a half inch all over length and the result was stiff with gel and sprays so that it stood up on top of my head. I was late picking up my daughter from school, and when I arrived everybody stared at me...

A WINDOW TO THE SOUL
Review of Introduction - Alex Parks by
Gryffindor
Advantages: Allows us to see Alex singing some of her own songs.
Disadvantages: Too many covers.
...up my mind that I wouldn’t even watch Fame Academy 2003. My mum was a bit annoyed with me because she knew I was only doing it to prove a point to myself. I didn’t need Fame Academy. To hell with it!
It was at the end of the first episode that I could see things starting to go wrong. Mum came to me and told me there was this 19 year old girl with spiky hair and a fantastic voice. For a moment I was interested but then I remembered my promise to myself and banished it to the back of my mind. I didn’t need Fame Academy. A week later I just happened to be in the living room when mum put Fame Academy on. Against my better judgement I decided to stay where I was. I wanted to see this girl with the spiky hair.
I watched the rest of the contestants without much interest but then the girl came on. Her name was Alex and as soon as I saw...

"Great thing about hair? It always grows back!"
Review of The Vidal Sasoon School Of Hairdressing by
elleandbo
Advantages: very cheap/free, offer of colour, professional
Disadvantages: not for the faint hearted, takes ages
...My friend and I both needed our hair sorted out. I hadn't had my hair cut for over a year and it did look a state (I had been growing out a disastrous crop) and she was broke. I was only fourteen at this time and had up til now been fairly unadventurous with hair, favouring the slightly layered bob sported by so many Londoners.
We arrived late to the School (in our defence it is hidden away!) and perhaps we had spent a little too long in Topshop! Located in a small side street near Bond Street tube station (approx. 5 minues walking distance) and the trendy South Molton Street, the building is at first rather unpreposessing and didn't appear the glamorous salon that the Advanced Academy we had passed by to be. Still it was too late now...
We handed over our vouchers to the admittedly haughty receptionists and were left to wait...

Bum-numbing but great hair
Review of The Vidal Sasoon School Of Hairdressing by
Polstar242
Advantages: A trendy haircut that costs you less than £15!
Disadvantages: 4 hours on your backside!
...I don't have a lot of cash at the moment, and my mop of hair desperately needed something doing to it. A friend of mine, who is a colourist for Toni and Guy, suggested that I go to one of the academies, either Toni and Guy, or Vidal Sassoon for a cheap haircut. I settled on Vidal Sassoon because I used to go to Toni and Guy for haircuts anyway, when I had money!
The whole experience was a bit nerve-wracking, from the initial appointment making 'are you up for something modern and different?' ... eek, to the fact that they cancelled my initial appointment and didn't inform me - I only found out when I phoned to check the location.
Anyway, arriving at the academy was exciting and scary. Everyone looked so young, so trendy and so godamned cool. I looked like a rock chick who severelly passed the sell-buy date, still, I decided that I...
