Clipping a horse to ride.
Review of Member Advice on Equestrian Activities by
spottydog2
Advantages: Easier to keep clean, horse doesn`t sweat as much.
Disadvantages: Some don`t like being clipped, may need exercise sheet.
...protection. My friend clips her horse`s legs but he is very hairy. I wouldn`t but then mine arn`t very hairy.
Hunter Clip - This is similar to a full clip but the legs are left unclipped. The saddle patch can be left to offer proection under the saddle. The saddle patch does not have to be left, it can be anything from a stripe to protect the spine, to the full saddle patch. Their is a trend in my yard to clip the saddle patch off completely. I leave the saddle patch.
Blanket clip - The blanket clip removes all the hair from the neck and either the whole face or half the face. It is removed from the belly and chest, leaving just a blanket, hence the name. This can be as low or high as you like. It is suposed stop the horse from sweating as much, but the blanket that is left, helps keep the hindquarters warm.

Good buy for a budget!
Review of Babyliss 2161AU Solid Ceramic PRO by
Frenchyanj
Advantages: poker straight hair, fast warm up, detachable comb, 4 hair clips, long cable
Disadvantages: wierd smell, wide plates
...A really good buy for about 30 pounds. It comes with 4 hair clips to use to partion your hair which is really handy if you want that professional look. Straighteners glides through hair really easily and detachable comb allows the hair to be straightened without combing the hair first, as it goes through knots and tangles as well - a real plus if u have long hair. The extra long cable is good too so you can be mobile. Warm up only takes just a few minutes - with maximum temperature of 200 degrees. This is good as with any higher temperatures hair tends to burn and the quality of your hair rapidly deteriorates.
However there was a wierd smell when i first used it but it disappeared after a few uses. Plates are wide enough to do lots of hair at once - which is good if you are in a rush - but if you are looking to curl your hair...

Slinky Straight Hair Oh Yes!!!!
Review of GHD Professional Ceramic Straightener by
marie130569
Advantages: Easy to use, Safety Shut off
Disadvantages: Price
...My first experience of GHD's was when I went to hair dressers and came out with straight hair and no kinks. My hair is naturally wavy and is really difficult to straighten. I have tried all sorts of creams, relaxers etc to straighten my hair.
I was lucky enough to get my new mk4 GHD's on eBay for £95 with bag and products.
The good thing about the about the MK4 is after 5 minutes of no use it will switch off.
Watch the DVD that comes with it as this gives you some tips on how to use. The best way really to use is section hair off first. I don't have the clips so I tend to just use hair bands, working on the underneath first. It just glides over the hair. You don't need to apply pressure as it straightens with the heat. Once the underneath is done repeat the top working way round.
There are 2 sizes either wide or slim. My...

Sleek and straight
Review of Babyliss 2075U by
Pink735
Advantages: Gives a great finish..bigger plates which save time
Disadvantages: If you use on a high setting hair can become dry
...I have thick wavy hair and i like to have my hair straight and thin..I bought babyliss straightners a year ago.. I had straightners before and they didnt give a god result..i had to go over a section of hair loads of times before it went straight but what i like about these ones is that you can only go over the hair once or twice and its done..saves so much time..They heat up in under 60 seconds and cool down very quickly. I comes with a heat proof mat which is good as you can put them on that and not worry bout your surfaces.
The temperature
There is a dial inserted between the handle which is 1-10.... 1-3 would be for really thin hair..or frindges 4-6 for normal hair and and 7-10 to really thick or frizzy hair
How to use
Comb all hair- hair MUST be dry...clip up all hair with the section clips provided but take a small section...

Curl 'n go!
Review of Babyliss 2330U by
Bouncebackability
Advantages: Curls stay in place all day
Disadvantages: The amount of time it takes to curl your hair.
...I bought these tongs over a year ago now, after deciding I was fed up with my straight hair all the time. And despite using them only a few times due to the length of time it takes, I've found them very effective, although generally I keep my hair straight most of the time.
History of Babyliss:
Babyliss was established in 1960 in Paris. Their aim was to create hair drying and styling appliances for the hairdressing world. However by the mid 60's, after much sucess they began exporting products to the UK, and have since become a well known leading brand worldwide.
Features:
*2 year guarantee
*Moving spiral presses the hair to give more curl definition
*High heat, and heats up in around 5 minutes
*Automatic temperature control, no need to change the temparature as there's only one setting.
How easy are they to use?:
I clip my hair...

Straight or Wavy?
Review of Cosmopolitan Steam Straightener by
redballoon
Advantages: A choice of hair styles
Disadvantages: not as good as the GHD ones.
...or there is the wavy plates which add a natural wave to your hair.
Using the straight plates is very easy. You have to wait about 3 minutes until the plates become hot enough to have an effect on your hair.
To get straight hair takes awhile but the results last a long time.
First spray your hair with a heat protector so your hair will not be damaged by the hot temperature of the plates.
Make sure that your hair is completely dry before using the straightners.
Clip the top sections of the hair out of the way. Begin with the underneath layers, start as close to the roots as possible without burning your scalp. Straight 3 inch sections at a time. Slide the irons through the lengths of the hair using an even pressure from root to tip. As you bring the straightners down your hair the straightners release the steam on to your hair making the hair accept...

Curly girlies!
Review of Angel Curls - Carmen Girls by
vericheri
Advantages: Makes really massive curls
Disadvantages: Doesn't work as well on some hair types
...I got this product for christmas a few years ago and have hardly used it purely because I didn't particularly like the look as it made my hair too curly. Also, one side of my hair curled more than the other and it looked strange. On the otherhand, it didn't work very well with my sister and her hair hardly curled. I think this may be down to the type of hair you have. The product itself however is very good and easy to use. You unscrew the top and put a little water in it then screw it back on and turn the curler on. After a few minutes it will work and you twist a strand of your hair round, clip it and then press the button at the top, after a little while you can unclip your hair to reveal a curl! Sometimes though I did burn the top of my hair a bit. I would recomend this to anyone who wants lovely curls and doesn't mind...

The cord is quite long to so you can move, the hairdryer its self is average in size and isnt a problem storing it.

Babyliss 2290AU
Review of Babyliss 2290AU DROP by
Laura893
Advantages: Good for different hair types, good value for money
Disadvantages: Can give hair a dry frizzy look
...I first tried these curlers when I went on a night out. I had left mine at home, so I borrowed the Babyliss 2290AU off a friend. I must admit, I do have a bit of a 'love hate' relationship with them.
I have medium length hair which is thick, so I liked the way they have a long ceramic coated barrel and I also liked the defined spiral guide on the barrel, which made curling easier.
The curling tongs looks good, are simple to use and have ten different settings, making it suitable for most hair types (and good for thick hair). It comes with sectioning clips which were useful in managing my hair, and it is mains operated, so no having to worry about replace energy cells.
Although it has some good features and is a good idea, I found there were a few problems with these curlers.
I firstly found that they gave my hair an unwanted...

Banish those curls away
Review of Nclarke NCA6 by
valangel1945
Advantages: a good straightener and dryer
Disadvantages: none so far
...I managed to but this dryer/straightener is a sale for only £20 and feel I bagged a bargain.
When you open the box you find a nice wallet with three zipped up compartments. In each one you will find
1. the dryer and fitted plug
2. the brush attachment which is large to make your hair sleeker
3.you will find attachment for sraightening your hair, plus the nozzle for blowing directly on your hair to dry it a little before you use the other attachments.
Also in the wallet you will find 4 large bristle rollers and 4 clips.
It is unusual to use at first because of it's shape which like holding a large torch but when you add attachments it is easier to work with your hair.
I have long fine hair which likes to curl especially if it damp and Worsel Gummidge comes to mind ,not attractice.
But since using this dryer/straightener this problem...
