Advantages: Large capacity, fast especially at writing, Stable, Good price
Disadvantages: Weak at multi thread reads and this hurts (me)

...has gone to waste in the upgrade! The drive has been completely reliable and performs exactly as expected. The only slight quibble I have is that despite the manufacturer's claim that it is one of the quietest drives around, it is slightly louder than my old one. Regardless of this however, it is still pretty quiet and the noise level is not a problem even when left on at night. All in all I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade ... The hard drive is meant to be used internally but I use mine as an external hard drive with an USB external enclosure. The drive might not be the fastest around but it is fast enough to use for those large files that makes life difficult. The fact that it uses SATA makes faster than IDE hard drives of the same size. Seagate support is very good, they replaced one with a snapped SATA connector (physical damage) even though they claim do not replace units with mechanical damage. ...warrent a purchase of the WD 500gb hard drive over any Raptor. Seeing as raptors are out of the Question (in my own opinion, although others will agree with me) you could go for something cheaper, but like i said, as you go down in price the value goes down a lot. For about 15 pounds less you end up with much slowers drives that dont have much capacity. These drives deserve an award for such performance price ratio as well as capacity price ratio. ...
