Take your Dog for a drive!
Review of Hi-Craft Dog Car Harness by
lindsayjayne
Advantages: Keeps you dog secure in the car, prevents driver from being distracted
Disadvantages: Can't be used as a standard walking harness
...~*~Background~*~
I have a Jack Russell dog, called Milo, who is almost two years old and goes almost everywhere with me. I very often take him in cars, but as I'm just a passenger he's able to sit on my knee. However, I'm currently learning to drive, and so I started thinking about how I could restrain him in the car, as I won't often have passengers to hold him for me. It's not only a matter of me being able to drive without Milo distracting me, but also of keeping him safe with me as a driver!
Luckily I mentioned this to my partner, who said special car harnesses for dogs were available - which I hadn't known - and that he'd seen them in cars before. I went into town the next day, and visited every pet shop and supermarket, but no-one had heard of them. Finally I resigned myself to going to the national pet store, 'Pets At Home...

Not so safe Clippasafe harness
Review of Clippasafe Standard Baby Harness and Rein by
mumagain
Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Poor design, breaks easily
...I was going to put off buying a harness and rein set till I was in town and could have a real look around as to what was on offer.
However as it happened my mother-in-law picked us up a high chair, you know the type the one with the chair and table. As it was it was missing any sort of harness to help keep a child safe whist feeding or shall I say feeding the floor. As it only cost £5 for the high chair I wasn't too unhappy but I would have preferred to find one myself that had all its parts.
So it was off to our local chemist to see if they had any baby harnesses and reins in stock.
The only one the did was your basic standard harness and rein for the price of £5.99 (I remember when these were much cheaper and better made).
I thought the price was a little on the steep side but has it was for safety reason for my purchase, I...

It's Driving Me Crazy
Review of Mulholland Drive DVD by
Mauri
Advantages: Good acting, Excellent mystery
Disadvantages: No chapter selection
...What was that all about!
Yes this is a typical reaction after watching a typical David Lynch film and Mulholland Drive is no exception, but how does it stand up to his other great films like Blue Velvet or his even better excursion into TV land 'Twin Peaks'?
THE PLOT
Those of you who are familiar with my film review will know that I don't give away much when it comes to the story but in this case even if I did I don't think you'd be any clearer as to what is going on.
The film about two women one Betty a newcomer to Hollywood with hopes of making it as an actress and the more mysterious Rita who after being involved in a car crash while driving on the circuitous Mulholland Drive of the title, is suffering from amnesia. Through a bizarre sequence of events Rita and Betty meets and Betty decides to help Rita rediscover her past...

the ideal all round harness
Review of Petzl Corax Harness by
battery
Advantages: comfortable, flexible and light
Disadvantages: twists easily
...I have used the Corax for years now. it was my first harness and there has never been a need to replace it. a testament to its durability.
in terms of comfort the corax is well designed. cushioned on the inside of the waist and leg loops to allow the climber to sit back in the harness for longer periods of time than cheaper harness that lack the padding. this is a great advantage when climbing longer routes, after a few hours on the rock you can easily forget that you're wearing it. further more, the padding is very flexible so it does not hinder movement on the rock. if it couldn't get more comfortable, the padding is designed to be breathable, stop those sweat patches building up on those summer days on the crags! even better, despite the extra padding the weight is still low (510g).
the harness is completely adjustable...

A good all-round harness
Review of Wild Country Matrix Ziplock Adjustable Harness by
BassManTim
Advantages: Very Comfortable
Disadvantages: Non-Adjustable harness may feel different to a normal harness
...I brought this harness after looking at a number of different harnesses both online and offline, mainly becuase of the price.
The Ziplock's buckle means that you no longer have to double buckle, which makes putting on the harness easier. I found that these buckles were also eaiser to tighten and loosen, and fitted a good range of sizes.
The elasticated leg loops can be slightly unnerving, as you cannot tighten them yourself, however I felt that they we're still secure and made for a more comfortable climb, especially when wearing the harness for a long time. The Adjustable version of the Matrix harness includes a leg loop buckle for those who would prefer one.
I found plenty of gear space was available, and these are very comfortable harnesses. I felt secure and have no problems wearing these for long periods of time...

A DRIVE THROUGH THE MIND.
Review of Mulholland Drive (Special Edition) by
Morning_Becomes_Electra
Advantages: One of David Lynches best films.
Disadvantages: Confusing.
...- MULHOLLAND DRIVE.-
Mulholland Drive was released in the UK in 2002. Directed and written by David Lynch. Starring Naomi Watts, Laura Elena Harring, Justin Theroux and Ann Miller. - Genre: Drama/ Mystery/Thriller. - Running Time: 146 Minutes. - BBFC Rating: 15. -
As the credits roll we are treated to a display of 50's dancing. There are many couples doing the jitterbug, bunnyhop, and the Jive. This is a lively sequence and all concerned are having a lot of fun. Suddenly a face surges to the fore cloaked in a white mist and she is featured alone and disjointed from all the others. She wavers, and then disappears back through the crowd again. The whole scene is shot very basically and the colours are subdued. This is an strange opening sequence with very little impact and I began to wonder...

Flashes Of Scenes Surrounding Mulholland Drive
Review of Mulholland Drive DVD by
ms19
Advantages: quite creepy, good story
Disadvantages: disappointing ending, confusing to keep up with
...Mullholland Drive is a very strange film one that really doesn't have an ending that is easy to understand, no matter how much I concentrated I didn't properly understand everything.
CAST
Justin Theroux
Naomi Watts
Laura Harring
Ann Miller
Robert Forster
Dan Hedaya
This film begins with (Laura Harring)a woman who we do not know the name of yet in the back of the car all dressed up. The car stops and the driver points a gun to her, his friends tell her to get out of the car. We then see two cars speedily moving along this dark road not noticing their speed obviously joyriders they crash into the car where the man with the gun is killed.
The woman then is alive and she sort of stumbles when she gets up but she seems a bit clueless as to where she is or what she is doing, she then hears voices and next thing...

Why carry when you can harness
Review of Members Advice on Cat Carriers by
Penfold49
Advantages: Carries your 'adored' cat safely.
Disadvantages: Getting your 'not so adored' cat in/out of the carrier
...visiting to put food down, so we took him with us. into the carrier he went and dutifully moaned the entire one and a half hour journey. The next time we visited the in-laws we decided to use the harness. With me sitting in the back with the cat on the harness, dribble was allowed to investigate the car, but not allowed to interfere with my husband driving! When we hit the motorway, dribble curl up on the back seat and happily went to sleep. Our next visit arrived and we didn't have the luxury of a car, so had to travel by train. Again dribble accompanied us. We put his harness on and then placed him in his carrier (mainly because all the people at the station would scare him.) When we were seated on the train, we placed the carrier on the table and opened the door. Dribble happily explored our seating area but preferred to sleep...

Ban Safety Harnesses!
Review of Should cannabis be legalised? by
4ku-Papa
Advantages: It's not alcohol or a safety harness.
Disadvantages: There's a few swear words - sorry.
...raising to 21 - including cannabis. The penalties for using cannabis while driving should be as severe as for drink-driving. If legal, only registered suppliers should be able to supply it. We should have a major crack-down on dealers of hard and dangerous drugs such as heroin and cocaine. If cannabis helps our depression or helps us sleep or relieves pain from a terminal illness, we should be able to take it in our homes without prejudice. We should be able to make our own decision if we want to take it. We know it's not addictive. We know there is the very slim possibility of health problems further down the line but we want to take it anyway. We also know it will do us far-less harm than smoking fags, drinking beer, driving a car or wearing a safety harness so why can't we?

Har, Har, shopping on the smugglers coast!
Review of Atlantic Village by
lazza123
Advantages: good shops, nice atmosphere, CHEAP!!!
Disadvantages: None
...parties here – I saw a family carrying a birthday cake in!) There is a charge to use this area too.
Just outside is a “Sky Bounce Trampoline” where you put a harness on and bounce! I think this was £4 to use (which I didn’t!)
Be aware though, Atlantis is sometimes shut in the winter months, best ring ahead to check.
** Parking and Access **
There are 2 very large car parks, with space for over 800 cars. There is also a coach park. There are a lot of disabled spaces right next to the building. The next rows back from the disabled spaces are parent and child spaces, both of these areas seem to have extra wide parking bays.
There is public transport, as I have seen several local busses stop there, although as I drive I couldn’t say where the busses come from, what I will say is that the ones I have seen always seem to be busy...
