A great hybrid
Review of Sanyo Xacti VPC-C5 silver by
ChrisGarbutt
Advantages: Small, Light, Easy to use, Good quality video & photo
Disadvantages: No view finder, a small compromise in quality of video and photo compared with other cameras.
...This is a great little camera, its small and easy to use and for its price you get a very good piece of kit and a decent camcorder all in one device, incredible!
If you are looking for top quality photos or video, dont bother with this device you will want to spend a lot more on a Digital SLR or a MiniDV player, the fact is for every day use this camera is perfect, it is small enough to fit in a jacket pocket and takes perfectly good footage, I find I have this with me more often that my other camera and so it gets a lot more use.
I wanted a camera and a camcorder so I could get some good footage of my travels before university, to get a camcorder you compromise on the quality of the stills, if you get a camera you compromise on the quality of the video and to get one of each is expensive and means carrying a lot of equipment...

A superb performer in its day
Review of Sony Handycam DCR PC109E by
streetmachine100
Advantages: Compact, light, wide range of features
Disadvantages: The camera switch
...I purchased this camcorder around a year ago, mainly for holidays, and my own hobby, wacthing anything with petrol in it burning up a track.
When you purchase you get a standard battery giving you around an two hours, which is not that long, so I bought a larger battery - NP-FF71 and this gives you nearly four hours - more than enough.
The hybrid LCD display is superb, and very easy to use, I picked up all of the basics without even looking a the manual, which by the way is comprehensive. You also get a small book listing all of the compatible attachments, lights, microphones, batteries, cables, tripods etc etc - which saves a lot of time if you like me - not an expert.
As a camcorder the recording quality is good, but more modern machines might me are a little better, but it is more than good enough.
Using the camera is a little...

Fire at will!
Review of Sony Handycam DCR HC39E by
timuster
Advantages: Great design, good features, nice imaging.
Disadvantages: Lacks auto-weather adjusting system.
..., results in a wider angle of view.
This is ideal for playback on today's popular widescreen TVs and for widescreen playback on the camera itself. The camcorder also feature a 2.7-inch Wide Hybrid LCD monitor that ensures that a bright, clear picture can be viewed anywhere, even at high contrast locations!!!
Start and stop record controls and a secondary Zoom button are conveniently placed on the Wide LCD frame for quick access when viewing the subject on the display or for during difficult shooting situations, even when you are holding the camera above your head!
Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar Lens:
The Sony DCR-HC39E feature a Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens, with a 12x Optical Zoom capability and a filter diameter of 25mm. This ensures that your footage will be of pin-sharp quality, even when you are zooming in from a significant distance, while...

WHY DON'T YOU GET THE REAL PICTURE.
Review of Sony DCR-SR52E by
packerlist
Advantages: FANTASTIC IMAGES WITH VERY BRIHGHT COLORS.
Disadvantages: DOES NOT HAVE ANY NIGHT LIGHT.
...Camcorder production has reached its pinnacle will I say because the type of features the developers' build on there is very amazing. Well I decided to get one for my self so I decided to start making some savings for it.
One thing about these camcorders is that the type of pictures that they produce, I don't actually have to say much about it.
Actually, it took me some time to buy it because inside my self I had a great battle because I have a lot of camera phones that can serve efficiently in terms of camera functions but I asked my self a question, this actually is some thing that was designed for the purpose of picture and filming and has larger TFT screen because one thing with me is this I love devices with large TFT screens and that was the main reason why I bought it with the belief that it will have...

Make your own Movies!
Review of Sony Handycam HDR-HC1E by
dempsey_review
Advantages: Far better than many cameras
Disadvantages: It costs for quality!
...to the point, this is only Sony's second camcorder to arrive with CMOS, rather good don't you think?
With this, it is designed to deliver faster image processing speeds for richer colours, more vivid detail, and significantly less glare from reflected light. The Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* lens further enhances image clarity and richness, even when shooting in low light.
The camcorder also features a 2.7-inch wide hybrid, touch-panel LCD screen1 to access menu options.
You can switch between 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratios (in DV mode) to see exactly how your content will be viewed on television.
Other convenient features include fully automatic controls, a built-in microphone for audio quality, an intelligent pop-up flash, and Super Steady Shot image stabilization.
Further more you can even record your own high definition video in complete darkness...

EASY RECORDING
Review of Sony DCR-DVD306E by
sifair
Advantages: Simple to use, decent price, quality
Disadvantages: none really
...The Sony DCR-DVD306E is a camcorder, it is a decent model that has many features and offers good picture and sound quality as well as a decent battery life. If you've been looking for a camcorder that can record onto DVD's your search is over as this one can and as well as all that it is quite a stylish and good looking camcorder that you will be pleased to carry around with you.
BATTERY LIFE
The battery life on this machine is fairly good for a camcorder, the manual says the battery will last for a maximum 110 minutes when recording straight onto a DVD, just short of 2 hours if you like. On this front it seems to deliver and whilst it was being used to record video it lasted virtually all of the 110 minutes that it stated it would. Of course if you change the settings a lot and fiddle with things or use extra features while you...

Daddy's got a new toy for christmas.
Review of Sony Handycam DCR DVD403E by
Fazel
Advantages: Amazing surround sound and widescreen experience.
Disadvantages: Mini disc only has 30 mins recording time.
...names for their products though. Sony had brought out a new easy to use camcorder to symbolise a new era.
~Box Contents~
In the box you get: One DCR-DVD handycam, 21 pin adaptor, AC Adaptor, stereo AV cable, Rechargeable battery pack, a shoulder strap, picture package software, 1 blank mini DV ( mini DVD, 8cm across, small isn't it?), USB cable, USB driver and a wireless remote control.
~Features~
Now the boring box contents are over, I can move on to the more interesting features. The camcorder has amazing surround sound recording, and has a built in microphone, it has a touch screen menu which is really handy. The camcorder also has 16:9 widescreen recording which shows off the 3 mega pixel colours (1/3 3 mega pixel primary colour CCD). The camcorder has a 2.7 inch widescreen Hybrid LCD monitor, which my step dad's dead and buried...

Too pricy for quality? Compu'er says no
Review of Sony DCRPC109 Digital Camcorder by
coledsteel
Advantages: Just about everything is inclusive, major multi tasking madness
Disadvantages: Hard on the pockets
...This camcorder boasts digital camcorder, camera and an mp3 player combo! It is however very hard on most pockets as it is priced in excess of 400 pounds! However if you are really inot photography or just want some pro and easy to handle equipment to take snapshots for special occasions yourself, then this is prime product for you.
For those of you who dont understand the megapixel mullarky, its just really high picture resolution (5 megapixels) that is crisp and graphically magnificent for every possible picture. You can take still pictures to mount on the wall and hook your camera right up to your printer via the handy cable (direct printing support), or you can take audiovisual clips of anything your heart desires as it has a very sensitive microphone (so dont mutter while filming!) and has a digital zoom of up to 4X seamless zoom...

Review of Sony DCRHC20E Digital Camcorder by

A Rewarding Camera
Review of Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7 by
JamesLee89
Advantages: Very high build quality, good battery life and performance
Disadvantages: Low resolution screen, image stabiliser function unreliable
..., and thoroughly reading the manual will pay dividends and help generate better results.
The unit is a hybrid between a compact and a SLR and is relatively light, making transportation a doddle.
Picture quality is very good, especially during the day, but the unit is equally reliable in darker conditions, courtesy of the Leica lens and strong flash mode which pops up at the press of a button.
The 'scenes' function is a very useful feature, and helps users select a matching environment condition and yield the best possible results.
The video recording functions, as with many digital cameras, still feel gimmicky and never really compares well with dedicated camcorders. The results are jerky and could instigate motion sickness in extended viewings.
A point worth mentioning is that the camera houses a screen with less than desirable resolution, which...
