Ahh my little pony was every little girls dream, oh to own a pretty pony one that had pretty hair that you could style. You could dream of winning those races with them. Take them to the beauty parlour. Put the baby pony in its nappy. These ponies were really played with like a doll more than as an animal. My daughter aged about 5 when they first came out. Disadvantages: once the Pony graduates, it is just gone

..., and is never seen again, save via the odd "postcard" that it might send time to time during games with newer Ponies. My daughter still finds this very upsetting, even at 6, and to be quite honest, I think that letting a child lovingly design a Pony, and bond with it, then taking it so completely away is a bit thoughtless. My six year old has wondered aloud if they plan to bring in a sequel where you can import your graduated Ponies and play another game, but alas, this has not been the case. Having said that, if the PC is hooked up to a printer, it is possible for the child to print out pictures of the Pony and it's cake in order to create a scrapbook to remember her beloved Pony by. ...My little girl has been My Little Pony mad now for three yeas, ever since I rented a My Little pony DVD one week from Amazon. You can imagine her delight when she discovered the toys, and the fervour for which she collects them Oh boy, does she collect them.. She collects the books, the DVDs, the vintage ponies and play sets, and the modern ones. Add to that her love of anything unicorn, and it's no huge surprise that when this was advertised on TV, she simply HAD to have it. Bless her little heart, she did all sorts of extra chores to try to earn pocket money to buy this, so when she got up to so much, we chipped in the rest, for at £12.99 plus shipping from Toys R US, let's face it, as a child of not quite 6 she would have been toiling at piddly jobs til Doomsday and the pony would be long unavailable. ...My Little Ponies are back in force and 2005 saw the release of the entire collection of My Little Pony DVDs from Hasbro. Although its a new DVD they graphics are based very much on the old fashioned 1980's style ponies and the songs are very oldy worldy too. However as a manic my little pony fan I had to buy them all. A bit like pokemon, but with added glitter. My niece adores my little pony and thought the world of me when I unveild the collection. Timeless cuteness and beautiful animation is what I beleive keeps these little equie cuties a lasting favourite. ...What always wows me about the My little ponies DVDs is how cheap they are to buy. For a DVD I would expect to pay around £12 but all of them are priced around £6. This includes all the movies, the mini episode DVDs and the mini featurette special DVDs. This is great for my purse as it meant I could complete my My Little Pony DVD Library at just under £30. Cost: £5.99 Place of Purchase: WHSmith Film producers: Hasbro Discs: 1 Episodes: two Released : April 2006 Cover: Illustrations on the cover are similar to that on the dvd - quite basic but still cute and rather old fashioned. ...We all remember the well loved My little ponys from our childhood, lemondrop, sweetstuff, minty, lickety split and friends.The first ponys came out in the early 1980s and this film was made in 1986 but is still well loved today! This film is all about the ponies trying to save their home 'ponyland' from an evil witch called Hydia and her two horrid daughters Reeka and Draggle. They are hell bent on destroying the ponys happiness after some failed attempts they concoct 'The smooze' a gooey liquid with a life of its own that covers ponyland.But who could help them? ...actually really enjoy it, unlike some parents who moan about how they see it as 'survallience' duty. Not at all. I love most of the stuff my kids like. My little ponies was my favourite fantasty interest as a child - printed all over my underwear, bedsheets and even the bowl I ate my meals from I ADORED my little pony. They have changed quite a bit though since my day. The eyes have grown bigger, their hair is more puffy and the voices, especially in this film have changed to be less dreamy and slightly more irritating if nothing else. In this dvd - its a follow on from the main film, the Flutter ponies (the ones with wings from the main film) travel to a land where witches live so that they can help the ponies to repair the Sunstone and restore the wellbeing of pony land. ...them too. Morals such as emotions and sympathy. As a girl, I grew up on the My Little Ponies craze and believe it was certainly helpful... They taught good values and confronted weighty moral issues like peer pressure and ostracism. But one of the things I think I loved them most for was their pure psychedelic prowess. Which seems to still have great appeal to the younger generation. Combining colour with beauty - my little ponies are actually nothing like real horses, they are an extreme fantasy - and a big hit! Extras: No extras on this dvd, you just get a plain menu with the episode selection list or 'play all' button to choose from. Some interaction like games, or perhaps a sing-along featurette would have been a real bonus. However still some wonderful classic episodes taken from the original my little pony books. A pleasure... ...I have read a few of the other reviews of this album, and to be honest, they are nearly all spot on! The only reason that I am writing mine, other than for the money aspect, is due to the fact that I bought mine when I was in the States, which is slightly different to the normal version that has mostly been reviewed. You can tell the difference with the cover, the Special Version being white with a black outline of the pony on it, and the normal version is silver, with a white pony in the bottom corner. Another difference is that the opening track is 'Back To School (Mini Maggit)', which was written from two or so lines from the final track, 'Pink Maggit'. Released in June 2000 01.
