'Aerial' Soars, Ever So Gently
Review of Aerial [Digipak] - Kate Bush by  zerbine28

Advantages: More settled, mature but still with the interesting quirks in music and words.
Disadvantages: 'Mrs Bartolozzi'; 'Nocturn'. Nothing like 'Hounds' or 'Dreaming'; light jazz elements, for some.

...So, was it worth the wait? With 'Aerial', the hotly anticipated new double-CD album of the British maverick and publicity-shy musician, Kate Bush once again surprises her listeners, for ill or good. A dozen years sans any new Bush album since 'The Red Shoes' would be the longest dry spell for fans, and the occasion of 'Aerial''s release has been warmly celebrated, especially on the other side of the Atlantic. I shan't dwell on Ms Bush's personal events between 1993's 'The Red Shoes' and 'Aerial', which finally went on sale on 7 November 2005. Suffice it to say that Ms Bush's son, Bertie, was born in the interim, a fact you can't miss since he's featured prominently on her latest CD production through his drawings, photographs and a song. 'Aerial' consists of 16 tracks on two CDs that sonically share a close kinship with 'The... Read review

The Best In Digital Television.
Review of ITV Digital by  anthonycoleman

Advantages: No waiting for installation. No Dish. Can be up and running the same day you sign up if you pick up your set top box from a retailer. Clear, crisp pictures and sound. Good quality channel line up, with unique service such as Internet access. Pay-per-view.
Disadvantages: Can require an aerial upgrade if it is damaged or old. Channel line up is improving but specialised channels need to be replaced with more general channels. (Now occuring, with the launch of new general channels such as Discovery Channel)

...ITV Digital (previously called ONdigital) is Britain’s only Digital Terrestrial Television platform. Basically in simple terms, if you hook up a set top box or Integrated Digital Television to your aerial, you will get ITV Digital. With ITV Digital you get free to air channels such as those from the ITV Network and those provided by the funding from your TV licence. Other channels are also available free to air such as the ITN News Channel. ITV Digital offers a wide range of programming from entertainment, old movies, new movies, lots and lots of sport, factual channels, kids, lifestyle and Music channels. These are available as either Primary or Premium channels, with premium channels being the more expensive. Also available is a pay per view events service, which offers blockbuster movies, musical events, sport and lots more... Read review

Digital TV Receiver
Review of Thomson DTI 1000 Terrestrial TV /Digital TV Adaptor by  mickfleet

Advantages: Many more channels, improved picture, no subscription, dish etc, good looking
Disadvantages: Poorly designed remote control

...to connect to a Hi Fi amplifier, a mains input socket and two Scart sockets. Connecting up is a fairly simple operation. Your aerial plugs in to the digital receiver and the digital signal then goes to your TV and video via two Scart leads (which are not supplied). You also need to connect the receiver to your video via a coaxial aerial lead from the RF loop socket. This will allow you to watch old-fashioned analogue TV while you are recording a digital channel. Setting up is carried out using the remote control. This process takes about two minutes. I must say this part of the process is quite exciting. You sit there and watch this bar slowly make its way across the screen. By the time it has finished, your TV has gained an extra 45 channels (in our case)! The first thing I noticed was the improved picture quality. The only noticeable... Read review

ITV Digital - End Of Term Report - Must Try Harder
Review of OnDigital by  BNibbles

Advantages: Relatively simple set up as long as it works on your aerial
Disadvantages: Less channels than Sky. Recording fiddly. Reception and available channels are a "lottery"

..., but these people make it very difficult to justify NOT to going over to Rupert instead. ***************************************************************** ANYWAY, THE REST OF THIS OPINION RELATES TO MY FIRST YEAR, INCLUDING INITIAL EXPERIENCES If my friends are anything to go by, there is a lot of misunderstanding as to what ITV-Digital (ITV-D) is. Some think it’s the same thing as digital terrestrial TV (DTT), others just don’t know, except for the commercials on the subject – “It’s digital TV that you get through an aerial” etc. Note that – AN aerial, not necessarily the one you’ve got now! Let me tell you how I see it. Then I’ll give you an account of my first (nearly) 12 months as an ITV-D subscriber. Firstly, DTT is a new-ish transmission medium that allows half a dozen... OFF DIGITAL
Review of ON Digital - On Digital by  lupine_howler

Advantages: NONE!
Disadvantages: EVERYTHING!

...trundled back to my flat to settle down to a nights digital entertainment. Or so I thought. I turned on the box, and still there was no picture. I phoned them back to explain and I was told that maybe the signal had not got through properly so they would send it again. Still there was no picture, so I phoned them back again, and again and… After SEVEN phonecalls, they finally told me that maybe my aerial wasn't strong enough, so I should go out and buy another. The next weekend I went out to buy an aerial. Spent all my Saturday, fiddling around on the roof installing the damn thing. Tried the box again. Still no picture. I phoned them, and this time they told me I would need an aerial upgrade (to the tune of 40 quid). I was then asked which floor I lived on, which I told them the third. "Oh sorry, we aren't insured to work above two floors... Read review

Digital T.V. not fully stable.
Review of ITV Digital by  paulbowes2k1

Advantages: more channels than analogue T.V.
Disadvantages: Just about everything

...checked out to see if I needed an aerial upgrade (Digital Terrestrial Transmission or D.T.T. dos not reach every body but in some cases you may be able to have a new Digital aerial fitted (AT a cost)) and then receive the signal. Lad in Currys says, “No upgrade needed”, “Great lets get this little beauty home”. Gets home opens the box reads “destructions”, very easy to follow “which is very unusual”, sets every thing up “still nice and easy” Then sends the little magic box on a go fetch the channels mission, 20 mins later? Half the channels missing. Ok, again… half the channels still missing…again… half the channels still missing, well over an hour later I phoned On Digital, “Sorry sir I’m afraid you’ll need an aerial upgrade” Bugger!! The lad... Read review

Why is sky digital so good
Review of BSkyB - Sky Digital by  fromthedarkside

Advantages: So many channels to choose from, interactive services, play games, listen to music, ....
Disadvantages: Do not broadcast itv, package prices are high

...includes all Sky sport channels, £36 per month. All movie channels. Sky Movie World - Includes all movie £30 per month Channels also Disney channel etc.,. Sky Sports World - Includes major sports £28 per month Channels. Sky Entertainment - Includes most of the Major channels except the movies and Sports. £16 per month Quality ###### The quality of sky digital is wicked. The quality is better than normal TV. For example take the BBC channels they are clearer on sky digital than normal TV. On sky the picture is finer and the sound quality is better. It is like having a digital TV but with more channels. It is better than aerial signals digital signals are stronger. Services ####### With sky digital... Read review

FREE TO VIEW DIGITAL TV RECEIVER - MORE FREE TV!
Review of Thomson DTI 1000 Terrestrial TV /Digital TV Adaptor by  inycon2

Advantages: Access to an extra 30+ free TV Channels
Disadvantages: My receiver has gone wrong, likely to need digital aerial

...downloaded. +++++++++++++++++++ RECEPTION PROBLEMS +++++++++++++++++++ Everything seemed to work well, but at the finish I discovered I only had half the channels which should have been available to me. The advice from Comet, even though they'd checked that my digital reception was OK, following this discovery was that I would have to have a digital TV aerial installed on the roof! I rang a contractor to get a price for this and was told it would cost £69. By this time, I really wanted to have digital TV even though I hadn't originally set out to have it. I ordered a new aerial and had it installed and Hey Presto, up popped a full selection of TV channels. Another bonus to having the new aerial is that the televison pictures improved to almost perfection. Our reception has always been a bit ropey as we live in a dip and our... Read review

On Digital can't make minds up
Review of On Digital [TV Advertisement] by  fitzsscribe

Advantages: None if you have low signal strength or aren't in the right area.
Disadvantages: Having to pay out for aerial upgrades

...Having recently purchased an idtv, I rang On Digital to activate my account. When I spoke to the adviser I said I had no picture and a little red square on the screen. I was advised that I had a low signal strength and was informed that I should purchase a set top aerial and point it towards my nearest transmitter. After 8 or 9 set top aerials and signal boosters I phoned On Digital again. This time I was informed that a set top aerial was of no use whatsoever. The customer service bod told me that I needed an aerial upgrade. This was being arranged until I informed them that I had a shared aerial. I was them advised that I would have to look through the local Yellow pages and find a contractor myself if I wished to take advantage of my year's free subscription. To add to the grief I was also informed that half of the chaneels... Read review
