...Yes, we've all wanted to know how brainy we are but are a little too reserved to apply for mensa just in case we get rejected. No more worry now - you can test yourself plus you don't have to tell anyone if you have a score that is a little on the low side. Anyway, with all jokes behind, this book is very puzzling and expands your mind to different trains of thought as well as providing you with an IQ score. The tests are designed for most ages and will give you pleasure for an afternoon or two. I must say though that the lifetime of this book is severely limited: Once you've taken the tests you won't need it. This being the only downside (but isn't really because the price is pretty good too) to this book then I would reconmend it.... Read review

...Ouchhh! My brain hurts!! Picture the scene, a quiet saturday night (22nd may 2004) having spent the day revising for pending exams and what appears on BBC1 but the Test the Nation IQ test! But I thought as I'm a student I'd see how clever or supposedly clever I am supposed to be! ~~~So What exactly is Test the Nation?~~~ Test the Nation is a kind of quiz show in which the whole nation can take part. There are 2 shows a year one to test your IQ and the other to test your general knowledge of current affairs etc...(I took part in the IQ test) The programme is held in the BBC studios with presenters Anne Robinson and Phillip Schofield! who to be fair do a pretty good job.. Advantages: Solves lots of puzzles, interesting read
Disadvantages: bit geeky

These can be logic puzzles such as how many weighings on a balance scale do you need to find the one heavy billiard ball from eight balls to the bizare such as that of the books title. The book begins with a discussion on the history of Silicon valley from 1957 when William Shockley set up a company to make transistors. The early companies also were often fixated by IQ scores as a measure of intelligence and the history of IQ test development and leveling for different groups is described. A lot of the books focus is on Microsoft and there are several anecdotes and quotes from Bill "THATS THE STUPIDEST THING I'VE EVER HEARD!!!" Gates and Steve Ballmer. ...'ve just had a go at this and well it goes something like this….. The test contains 70 question relating to the national IQ test 2004.There are five sections logic observation reasoning picture puzzles and visual memmory.Each question has four possible answers a,b,c or d.Ther is a time limit which varies for each question. First question..Please tell us about yourself Gender ..Male, Age Band 35-54…Nearest city.. Leeds.."Hey I've got three right already…!!!" Then they ask you to quess your own IQ, I put 120, it can be anywhere between 70 and 150. My scores were logic……………10/17 Observation …….9/14 Reasoning…….…5/15 Picture puzzles ……….5/10 Visual memory..5/14 My score was 94 out of 150, which just goes to show how arbitary this kind of testing is is, the trouble is I got boared with it after the first few questions and started guessing which... ...before i start, i just want to say that this game is a must have. no matter what anyone says is a disadvantage, you must stiil play it. The gameplay is excellent and the physics of the actual game are incredible. there is very little that you cant move or interact with. The puzzles that you are presented with are fantastic. They are not blindingly obvious (well not for someone with my IQ...Ahemmm) but make you feel intelligent for completing them. there is a new "Weapon" that needs a mention. its called a gravity gun (or something to that effect) meaning that you can attract an object to you (say an oil drum) and it will stick to the end of the gun. you can then fire it at someone. great addition to the game and invaluable for solving a lot of puzzles (without it you would be stuffed). something that i enjoyed immensely was picking up... How many sheep are left standing? ~~~~~~~~~~~~ NUMBER 6 How far can a dog run into the woods? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ There are loads of these puzzles and quizzes to do online i find them great to do and share amongst others. Even if i do rack my brain only to swear at the end when i find out the answers and that i,m completely wrong in many many cases. But worth while having a go. ...I'm a bingo addict. I'm a quiz show addict. I'm a games and puzzles addict. And now I'm an Uproar.co.uk addict too! It was the bingo that brought me to the site. It is a little hard to follow, because you have three boards and they're all really small and the numbers don't jump out at you. Eye strain is a disadvantage! There's a Family Fortune Game just like the show on telly, and u have no chance of being as thick as those on the show! Why is it that every family has a combined IQ of 2? ...Bought my KEF IQ9s a year ago to replace my ageing Mission bookshelf speakers, and am still loving them. They are driven by my Mission Cyrus 2 Amp and are used to play a wide range of music mostly rock and pop both from CD and records . Having tested the IQ range these were undoubtedly the best from bass through mid range to treble, and for sound quality, performing well at low, as well as higher, volumes. I could have saved £150 and bought the next model down but I knowI would have regretted it. They are handsome and stylish floor standing speakers, all of the KEF IQ range are available in a range of three different veneers to suit your style. Apart from extracting them from the packaging (I had to crawl into the box to get them out), they were easy to set up and have been totaly reliable since purchase. A year on - not a single... ...This book is quite concise - it needs to be, many like me are not interested in anything else except for the tests that assess your IQ. I own several many IQ books so it was only natural for me to compare it with the others. This book is quite suitable for the novice, those who are testing their IQ for fun, however, those who have been through numerous books (e.g. those who are a little obsessed with confirming their high intelligence....) - this may be a little under-challenging as it contains many of the more common IQ tests and questions that appear in a lot of other books. The score and marking is relatively straight forward to understand, and follows many of the other IQ books. There are brief discussions on the issue of intelligence, however, this is mainly a 'test' book. For those who are looking for something more... Read review
