...This wonderful,lively story by Jacqueline Wilson is one not to be missed. It tells the story of a girl called Jade coping with her life after her best friend Vicky has been killed (after being hit by a car). Vicky comes back to life as an angel and can talk to Jade but she starts to stop Jade from doing things that she really wants to do... ...Jacqueline Wilson does it again - at last someone has written a novel about teenage anxieties and pressures which manages to say all the things that need to be said without patronising or falling flat on its face. Girls Under Pressure is a masterpiece of observation and gentle humour. Wilson's characters are complex, credible and likeable, both self-aware and silly, vulnerable and brave. Ellie and her friends are real girls living in the real world that is a glorious muddle of the melodramatic and mundane. In this episode, Ellie falls victim to the pressures of body fascism, whilst her friends struggle to find the balance between the image they want to present to the world and the images being projected onto them as pretty teenagers. In true Jacqueline Wilson style, the girls come out triumphant. Let's hope they will be with us for many... Read review

Disadvantages: It had a lot of characters so it was fairly confusing.

...I bought it because I thought it looked good and I liked Jacqueline Wilsons other books also because my friends had recomended it to me. This book was Exciting to read and also a book that keeps you with it all through out. I think girls who are teenagers should read this book because it is all about love and if you were seven it would be hard to understand. I also wouldn't recomend this to any body above the age of 25 because its about to girls in there teens.... Read review

...The Illustrated Mum is a brilliant, fantastic and amazing book! There are two girls, Dolphin and Star. They have a mother ,Marigold, who is covered in glorious tattoos. Dolphin thinks she is wonderful but Star is not too sure. Everything goes wrong when Star finds her real dad but everything turns out alright in the end. I think that Jacqueline Wilson's imagination is fantastic and this story really proves it. The pictures are also good and the front cover is very eye-catching. I think that this story is aimed at older readers but I would reccommend it to absolutely anyone!... Read review

...Jacqueline Wilson is one of my favourite authors and this book (Double Act) is one of her best. The two twins (Ruby and Garnet)lose their mother at a young age and the story tells you how they go through life writing things in their account book along the way. Ruby and Garnet have slightly different personalities which combines very well with the whole story. The drawings are fantastic and the story is so good that it is hard to put it down. This is a gripping story for readers of any age and I would reccommend absolutley anyone to buy it.... Read review

...Let me start off by saying that I was very let down by this one . As a big fan of Jacqueline Wilson, I was particularly dissapointed with this book which, compared to other and more successful books by the bestselling author, deserves no more than 4 out of 10 for readability, storyline and characters. It's hard to relate to, and easy to put down. For younger readers, and written in the 2nd person, this story is about a poor sighted nine year old girl , Mary, who decides to prove her independence by sneaking off to the corner shop for sweets, and show that she really is grown up enough to walk the simple 5 minute trip by herself. But things don't quite go as simply as she thought when she is kidnapped by scary knife... Read review

...Ellie thinks she's fat. This is another book in the Girls series, and it's really funny, but also has a serious note. Ellie, the main character gets obsessed with losing weight, but she realises it's the wrong thing to do. The pictures are really funny, and the story will appeal to teenagers, may even bring them memories of their own diets that they have tried. Jacqueline Wilson writes so well, as if she is a teenager's age, and that's why her books are so popular. There are two other books in this series - Girls in Love and Girls Out Late. They're all great, buy all three for your 11+ daughter. She'll definitely enjoy them.... Read review
