Jaguar are the best!
Review of Jaguar X-Type 2.0l Diesel by
Chimplerd
Advantages: Kept the classic look
Disadvantages: Not a huge boot for an estate car
...(unlike the S-type 2.5 saloon we had last time.) It certainly does run very smooth. My Father travels to and from work monday to friday and Now and again we travel large distances to see the rest of the family like i mentioned before. So on average he travels about 20000-25000 miles a year. The mileage is great, the ride is great and it looks great. This Estate matches up to the performance of the XJ sport series which is also a car we had in the past. I recommend you take a look at some of those before you make your decision on buying a car. My dad has never crashed this car but in a magazine i read, This car had a four star rating on safety
My Conclusion
I conclude that in such a good looking body, a great engine and other such kits and comfortable interior you can make an amazing car and Jaguar have done this to an affordable price tag....

Jaguar, prestige and class? Not any more.
Review of Jaguar S-Type 3.0 by
JPCcomputers
Advantages: Excellent Jaguar Warranty. Dealer service very good. Turns heads.
Disadvantages: NOT reliable. Poor built quality. Jaguar DO NOT return emails!!
...I once owned a Jaguar X-Type and had may problems. I decided to part-ex it for an S-type.
Since I purchased my S-Type I have had nothing but problems. I do not expect a car that cost £36500 new to be so poor. I have had rain water in the luggage compartment, jogging when accelerating and constant misfire.
I have noticed that there are lots of Ford connector etc. in and around the car. Is Ford's intervention the problem? Trim rattles and do not fit correctly.
I am told that the jogging and misfire is a faulty ignition coil, but unless the engine management light appears Jaguar are unable to identify which coil is faulty. It just cost me £401 to replace all six coils and spark plugs. Unfortunately this did not fix the problem, it made it worse....
I have been told by two Jaguar dealers that the ignition coil problem...

Fancy a ride in my Big Pussy?
Review of Jaguar X-Type 2.0l Diesel by
matsu65
Advantages: Classic Jaguar looks and comfort
Disadvantages: Diesel take a bit of getting used to
...to have for the next 3 years.
Part of the deal we have with our agency is that we get extended test drives on 3 choices from the car list. The cars I chose were the new Audi A4, a Volvo V50, and finally the Jaguar X-type 2.0D S Estate. All three cars had features that really stood out, but it was the Jaguar that managed to edge it although it was a close run thing.
Being on the road a lot, and having a young child, there are certain things that I need from a car. I do some seriously long journeys so comfort is paramount, as are safety and reliability. Needless to say, it has to provide good handling on smaller roads and be responsive on motorways. Since I spend half my working life sat inside a car, the looks and feel of the interior tend to be a lot more important than the exterior, though I freely admit there are some cars I wouldn...

My first and last Jaguar
Review of Jaguar X-Type 3.0 by
cheltenham1234
Advantages: 4 wheel drive
Disadvantages: A disappointing lack of quality
...We bought the Jaguar X type three years ago and overall it has been a disappointing experience. We have covered around 35,000 miles in that time.
The transmission has whined from new and a glance online shows this is not an isolated case. They all do that said the Jaguar dealer. The clutch has been appalling from the start. Imprecise and with no perceptible bite point, the clutch makes every pull away a bumpy experience. Try a quick getaway and you get a mass of revs and very little movement. The clutch then gives up. Once again a search online will show that we are not alone.
Then there is the thermostat hose to consider. It comes adrift and dumps the coolant onto the road leaving you with an overheating engine. We've been recovered twice from the side of the road with this. Despite the fact that other owners have reported the same...

X-Type Diesel - OK if you get a good one.
Review of Jaguar X-Type 2.0l Diesel by
RICHADA
Advantages: Jaguar badge. Styling. Lots of options to play with.
Disadvantages: Very little equipment. Cramped interior. Some not very refined.
...I have to start by saying I don't own or run an X-Type Diesel, came very close to doing so, but then discovered the Accord Diesel and purchased that instead.
I test drove one of the launch cars last year at Company Car in Action at the Millbrook Proving Ground. It was an option laden d Sport and looked superb in black.
Very impressive was the overall refinement, I informed the Jaguar staff on the stand quite honestly that I would be replacing my much liked 2.5 V6 (petrol) Omega with this car.
However my wife was not present to ride in this car and I booked a test drive with our local Jaguar dealer just for her to try it out before signing on the dotted line.....
.....and what a good job we did try that second car!
This one was more London taxi than Jaguar, it also had quite the worst wind noise that I have experienced in a car. My...

The Beauty and the Beast
Review of Jaguar X-Type 3.0 by
starmanx
Advantages: Stylish,reliable eye-catching,confortable
Disadvantages: difficult to park without park-aid system
...It is very different for the past models produced by Jaguar.
It is the first of Jaguar's "New style" cars, and it did come out very well in my opinion.I own a 2002 X-type 3.0 Sport.I bough it in 2004 from Jaguar itself( Ex-demo), and the car had 7000 miles on the dashboard. The model i onw has upgraded supensions ( sport ) .The car respond well to any unforseen circumstances on the road , it has no probmes in wet or frozen roads, probably due to the 4WD traction. Aderence is quite high with standard Pirelli P Zero 225/45 R17 , but i prefer more wet-oriented tyres like Goodyear F1 ,they last less but they transmit a better feeling. It is a perfect car for medium/long distance runs, where the versatility of the 3.0 liter engine, the well rifinite interiors, and the overall cabin space are more apreciated. The fuel consumption is very...

Great Secondhand Buy
Review of Jaguar X-Type 2.5 by
SNOWY1976
Advantages: Good standard equipment,Good handling,Good security and safety
Disadvantages: poor Petrol consumption
...My brother recently brought him self a second hand Jaguar 2.5 v6 x type its on a 51 plate with1 owner from new and 50,000 miles on the clock and full service history he payed £8,999 which considering it cost 22k new is a bit of a bargain
When he told me he had brought it i said why a jaguar its a bit of an old mans car and its going to cost you a small fortune to keep it on the road.
Personally i wasnt keen on this type of car ive always liked sports cars and hot hatches but after seeing the jag in the flesh its sort of grown on me.
My brothers is a british racing green in colour and because its a sports model it gets the bigger alloy wheels which improve the look,The interior is covered in cream leather seats and door coverings the dash is in a walnut wood effect with a black plastic centre control for the stereo/air con/heating etc...

A Classic Car
Review of Jaguar S-Type 3.0 Executive by
dannythefish
Advantages: Looks, comfort, agility
Disadvantages: Speed
...Having seen many other cars in this sector I finally took the plunge and looked at the Jaguar S-Type. This model is easily the best S-Type that Jaguar make, this is because of many things. The gearbox is very slick and easy to use, the road holding is superb, the interior makes you feel very special, it is a very typical Jaguar. If there is such a thing as a typical Jaguar. If I have 1 gripe it is the acceleration, it could be that little bit better, but they do make 4.0 litre version if speed is your thing. Over all this car is a superb creation from the men at Castle Bromwich and a delite to drive, go test it for yourself today!...

MONDEO IN A PARTY FROCK?
Review of Jaguar X-Type 2.5 by
BARNEYM1979
Advantages: PRESTIGE BADGE, CLASSY STYLING
Disadvantages: DISAPPOINTING BUILD QUALITY, RATTLY TRIM, STAID IMAGE
...It was at the 'Driven 2003' show, held at Milbrook test track, that I had my first Jaguar experience. In fact, the Jaguar stand was my first port of call. My own car at the time was a '99 BMW 323iSE, and I was keen to see how the competition was measuring up. I was disappointed to discover that because of my age (24 yrs), I was not allowed to drive the 3 litre model, so was forced to make do with the 2.5. However, this was probably going to be a better car to compare with my own.
The first thing that you notice on entering the Jag is that, despite now being owned by Ford, there are still a number of 'typically Jaguar' characteristics. The shape of the dashboard, the walnut trim contrasting with the leather trim, the chrome accents - all present in the X-Type. You definitely feel a bit special.
The model I drove was the automatic...

Jaguar X Type Long Term Test
Review of Jaguar X-TYPE 2.5 V6 SE by
Estupendomike
Advantages: Looks, Equipment, Ride, Quality
Disadvantages: Rough Road Ride, Fuel Consumption, Boot Space
...I really believed that the X type was nothing more than a Mondeo in a very pretty body and badged as a Jaguar.
Having bought a business that already owned an X type, my plan was to sell the car immediately and buy a Mercedes. That was six months ago!
I've been so impressed with the small Jag, that I'm going to keep it. It's not without flaws, as you'll soon see, but it is a terrific package, and above all, it has that indefinable "Jaguar Presence".
The model we have is known here as the Executive, which is equivalent to UK SE spec. It lacks for nothing in terms of equipment with electric seats, very powerful climate control, cruise, CD changer, rear parking sensors, HID headlamps and auto lights and wipers. The leather is proper thick Connolly stuff and the dashboard is swathed in highly polished Canadian Maple. Wood and leather may...
