...:: BACKGROUND :: In 1999 I vaguely recall channel-hopping and seeing this young and rather brash lad cooking a barbeque for his mates and his missus, Jules. The programme didn’t hold my attention for more than a few minutes because this lad was annoying; really hip, cool and trendy. It was Jamie Oliver and I wasn’t into hip, cool and trendy (they aren’t words you would apply to me at any rate). However, in 2001 I found myself buying a copy of ‘THE NAKED CHEF’, published in 1999 and based on this TV series. I can’t actually remember what prompted me to make this purchase, but I do remember that my feelings towards Jamie Oliver verged more on the side of respect than dismissal. ...I spent £14.99 on this wounderful creation, Jamie Oliver has done himself proud. I was never a fan of his untill recently, my friend bought me the dvd for my birthday and I must admit I was pretty impressed! From the DVD you can tell that over the last few years Jamie has been spending most of his spare time at home, growing things in his garden and becoming totally inspired to cook with all his own produce. The main reason Jamie Oliver probley did this DVD was to promote growing food at home, nothings better then produce made in your own back garden. This brand new DVD includes all 12 episodes from the series. From potatoes and tomatoes to pumpkin and game. ...Cook with Jamie We all know and love ?? Jamie Oliver, the award winning Naked Chef, star of Jamie's school dinners and successful restaurants, books and cookery programmes. Well, actually from some of the comments I've read about him on this site before, we don't all love him, I think it's a case of love or hate, but aside from that he does produce some amazing cook books. The one I am reviewing is called Cook with Jamie and it is a hardbound book, published in 2006 by the Penguin Group. It is quite a plain book with a photo of him on the front holding a cooking knife and surrounded by a photo negative all around the outside. He calls the book, "My guide to making you a better cook." In my opinion he is correct. The thing I love about this book is that it is very simple to follow and allows you to produce some gorgeous meals...
