Stop Shouting At The Telly Mum Its Only A Film
Review of Vertical Limit DVD by  buzzz

Advantages: Fantastic scenery and stunts. Non stop action.
Disadvantages: Ending just a incy wincy bit dodgy

...My husband and daughter chose Vertical Limit DVD from Blockbuster and, going by their previous record on choosing films, I wasn't expecting much. Last week they chose Battlefield Earth...enough said! However, this film was a definite edge of your seat, action packed thriller. We were gripped in the first four minutes of the movie by a heart in the mouth opening scene. I don't like to give away anything that may spoil the movie for anyone who hasn't seen it yet but the basic story revolves around a brother and sister. He is a photographer for National Geographic and she is an expert climber who is employed as part of a team to assist and guide a Texas businessnan on a publicity stunt climb up K2. On the climb the weather takes a turn for the worse and against the advice of the expert guide the Texan wants to carry on. As you may expect... Read review

Hanging By a Thread
Review of Vertical Limit DVD by  steve.toplis

Advantages: Non stop action. Gets better as the film progresses.
Disadvantages: If you suffer vertigo then don't watch.

...The box says, 'If it took you any closer to the edge of your seat, you'd fall off'. Not far from the truth. Although 'K2' is supposed to be better, I found Vertical Limit pretty intense stuff. The storyline revolves around a group of climbers who are climbing K2 in Pakistan for a publicity stunt. Things go drastically wrong and the brother of one of the female climbers mounts a rescue attempt. From the opening sequence there is action. Often, this comes upon the adience as a suprise. The family outing suddenly goes horifically wrong in less than two breaths. The film only gets better as it progresses. Scenes to watch out for are the helicopter ascent. As the helicopter reaches it's maximum altitude the crew must dis-embark from this moving platform on to a ledge of ice and rock. With a mixture of high winds and wizzing rotor blades... Read review

SUPERBLY STUNNING CAPTIVATING EXCITING
Review of Vertical Limit DVD by  whitewiner

Advantages: Excellent, captivating film that keeps you glued throughout
Disadvantages: none

...A visually stunning film which from the first minute draws you in taking you on a breathtaking, panoramic journey through the himalayan mountains of Pakistan where the camera delights and tantalizes in bringing you close to the enchanting, dangerous but almost beckoning terrain where the central focus of this film stands - K2 mountain. A group of professional climbers are seen attempting to climb to the top of this famous rock when events take an unexpected turn and the two central characters of the film played by Chris O'Donnell and Robin Tunney (playing brother and sister) are left to face far-reaching consequences of their actions. Events move to the present day where the sister Annie is again attempting to scale K2 this time with Bill Paxton as millionaire airline owner Elliot Vaughn and Nicholas Lea as the mountain guide Tom Mc... Give your brain a rest for the night
Review of Vertical Limit DVD by  Jaynestep

Advantages: Good all round entertainment
Disadvantages: Cheesy and not so believable acting

...next to Cliffhanger and Twister.) The over the top acting may also be exaggerated by the somewhat cheesy choice of direction. The film was directed by Martin Campbell (Golden Eye and Mask of Zorro) and also produced by him alongside Robin King. DVD I have the film in DVD format which I bought from HMV for £10.99 though you can get it a lot cheaper now. You can get it from PLAY for £7.99 including delivery. The packaging is the usual plastic DVD box and there is only 1 disk on my version. I don't think there is a Special Edition version or as yet I have been unable to find one. The special features on the DVD are follows: Director and Executive Producer’s commentary Making of Featurette-Surviving the Limit 7 Featurettes- Search and Rescue Tales Quest for K2- Featurette Weblink Filmographies Theatrical Trailer Interactive Menus feature... Can I breathe out now please
Review of Vertical Limit DVD by  Fiona_Tims

Advantages: Really great action packed film.......& fantastic scenery to boot
Disadvantages: ok somewhat predictable, but who cares......I certainly didn't.

...I finally got round to seeing Vertical Limit at the cinema today & I have to say "What a corker??" I suspect this film won't appeal to everyone (but then what films do?) but anyone who loves an action packed, edge of the seat, amazing effects film cannot go wrong with this one. I knew I would love it because I love mountains & snow (skiier) & I still love to watch Cliffhanger & K2 (a film from the 90s with Michael Biehn). I know some people will argue these films aren't true to life, but that's the point. They are total escapism and for 90 mins you get to just sit back & enjoy the ride. The film starts with a brother(Chris O'Donnell), sister (Robin Tunney) & father climbing when a tragic accident befalls them (no pun intended). Right from the word go you are holding your breath & clenching your fists in anticipation(& if u... Read review

Visually Tremendous
Review of Vertical Limit DVD by  tommy7

Advantages: Special Effects
Disadvantages: Story is a bit tired

...of Mission Impossible II). Annie (Robin Tunney) her brother Peter (Robin O’Donnell) and their father Royce are put in jeopardy when things go wrong above them. The turn of events means that the three family members are hanging on the same rope supported by a single carabiner. Royce knows that the carabiner won’t hold the three of them and demands that Peter cuts him free to save himself and Annie. Peter reluctantly cuts his father free against the wishes of Annie. Three years later Peter is a photographer for the National Geographic and has not climbed since. Annie on the other hand has pushed herself to the limit as a climber as she believes that would have been her father’s wishes. She is about to join a climb of K2 which has been organised by billionaire Elliott Vaughan (Bill Paxton) as a publicity stunt. Vaughan has... Read review

Testing your patience to a limit
Review of Vertical Limit DVD by  Lowey

Advantages: Good if you get easily gripped by these kind of films
Disadvantages: quite cheesy and predictable in places

...I watched the video of "Vertical Limit" at a friends house, not my choice whatsoever, I thought it would be quite boring and cheesy, so had no intention of seeing when it was released at the cinema. But since I was at a friend's house I sat through it. At the beginning it was fairly boring and quite inconclusive, with the story suddenly stopping and then moving onto a later time without completely finishing the beginning storyline. As soon as the film starts you can pretty much guess the ending without even listening to any reviews or reading between the lines. The story is of a brother and sister, who have separated for a long time due to a disagreement of the responsibility of their fathers death. The sister goes on a dangerous trek among the k2 mountains. But due to disastrous weather changes, her plans go wrong and she... Read review

Hang on a Minute...
Review of Vertical Limit DVD by  Borg

Advantages: Nice scenery
Disadvantages: Weak plot, flawed, predictable

...Cliffhanger and The Eiger Sanction. -Hm, sounds great, we will get in some great writers and great actors. Will look cool amid such great scenery. I have always wanted to go to the Himalayas anyway. Sadly, the great writers did not turn up and there was such a lack of research uninvolved in this that is awful. The plot (or whatever you might call it)… Three years before, brother and sister Peter and Annie Garrett are involved in a climbing accident in which their father dies. Annie blames Peter (Chris O’Donnell) for the death. (hm, yawn… let’s carry on…). Now, Peter is up in the Himalayas working for National Geographic and his sister just so happens to be making an attempt of K2 with this rich entrepreneur. The rich entrepreneur(Bill will stop at nothing to get to the top and there fore will not listen... Read review

Vertical Limit Review
Review of Vertical Limit DVD by  Sheet

Advantages: Edge-Of-Your-Seat Action.
Disadvantages: Drags On A Little

...This was written by me for www.gameaday.co.uk Welcome to the world of Vertical Limit, an adrenaline pumping, risk taking adventure. A young risk taker by the name of Peter Garrett (Chris O’ Donnel) has a tendency to climb large mountains or buildings. He’s not alone though. His sister, Annie (Robin Turner) and his fellow team mates (Bill Paxton and Nicholas Lea) are also strung along for the ride. Mother nature seems to want to put an end to their days of climbing – permanently. They must risk their lives, in what will be their most perilous mission yet. The film opens with a truly gripping and breathtaking intro, which sets the pitch for the rest of the film. The film then fast-forwards to 3 years later, where Peter Garrett is on the team of a squad that are going to attempt to climb K2. K2 is the 2nd largest... Read review

Do not snow board here
Review of Vertical Limit DVD by  wemstalker

Advantages: Highly enjoyable
Disadvantages: none really

...The chase is on, in this high-adrenaline yarn. Chris O'Donnell plays young climber Peter Garrett, who must scale the massive heights of K2 (the world's second highest mountain!) in order to save his Sister, of course it’s never that simple, in this movie he must do it against the clock! That is the basic plot, there is obviously more to it than that, and I’ll let some of the cats out of the bag (But not all!) as this opinion rolls merrily forward. So here goes the movie kicks off with Peter and Annie Garrett, (Robin Tunney) climbing a mountain with their father, then tragedy strikes, (I won’t spoil it, but you can probably guess.) Anyway the movie travels forward to a time when American millionaire Elliot Vaughn (Bill Paxton) plans an assault on K2; of course he is to be accompanied by Peter’s sister, Annie... Read review
