Got Wood?
Review of Kookaburra Ultimate Belta Cricket Bat 2006 by  shanediablo

Advantages: Chunky, Light, A hitters delight
Disadvantages: Not for the defensive/classical player, bat-power comes too easily

...Being a love of all things cricket, I have gone through my fair share of bats. I get bored easily or find faults easily. In fact, I often end up blaming poor performance on the bat if times are bad. So, in a nutshell, a good piece of wood is key to cricketing satisfaction. This was, unbelievably, my first Kookaburra bat of any description. It was purchased for me by a family member so I cannot honestly be sure of the cost of it but I knew from when I first picked it up that it was of good quality. Being a very aggressive player, I rely on the bats being chunky in order for them to be regularly hit for the maximum and this bat is definitely chunky alright. A common balancing problem is that a bat will be really chunky and therefore very heavy which makes life uncomfortable for the batsmen, unless they possess extreme power... Read review

kookaburra produces a little beast
Review of kookabura little beast cricket bat by  pjloudon

Advantages: great look, powerful bat
Disadvantages: low grade of williow

...today i will be reviewing the kookaburra little beast cricket bat looks when you look at this bat you could compare it to any bat on the market and it would beat them all it is really a stunning design power the middle on this bat is slightly lower then one of the adverage bat but in some ways that can help because it allows the ball to be hit ain the air a lot easier profile the profile of the bat is bowed meaning it has a slight curve in it , a bat being bowed means that it generates better power , but with generating better power it reduces the bat speed. the price in my eyes this bat is way under priced it retails at around £30-£40 the durability factor the durability factor is a big one because oviously if the bat is cheap then it is not going to be made from the highest graade of willow... The Beast: Excellent choice.
Review of kookabura little beast cricket bat by  sam1060

Advantages: Long lasting, light, kookaburra, kashmir willow
Disadvantages: hasnt got a big middle.

...The Bat The Bat is a very good Bat. The middle is'nt very big, although when you hit it, boy, its beautiful. Its so natural and i would probably say when you hit the middle it is delicious. the bat is made of high quality kashmir willow, and because it is kookaburra you can bet that it was very well made. All bats are pre-knocked in, but kookaburra do recommend at least 1 hour of knocking in. Feel The bat feels very good. Its light and very manuverable. Its very good if you like light bats, like myself. the only bad thing i could say about the feel, is that as soon as you dont hit the middle, you get that horrible feeling in your hands, which is not unusual, but it happend alot more with my kookaburra, compared to my new woodworm. Lastability this bat lasted me the best part of 2 full seasons, indoors and out and also... Read review

Definitely not "One" for Sorrow...
Review of D'Arenberg - Laughing Magpie Shiraz Viogni by  helencbradshaw

Advantages: Full Bodied
Disadvantages: Availability

...as the above examples show, and in their red varieties my favourites are the Laughing Magpie, Dead Arm Shiraz, and Feral Fox. No bottle of D'Arenberg comes without the story on the back of how the wine got its particular name. In the case of the Laughing Magpie, the wine was named after the pet name given to the pet Kookaburra's belonging to the daughters of the fourth generation winemakers in the McLaren Vale. Despite the fact that a Kookaburra is nothing like a Magpie, the owners at McLaren Vale thought the name was fitting for such a blend of Shiraz Voignier, representing the black Shiraz grape and the white Voignier. Viognier grapes are relatively new to Australia and are more difficult to grow than other varieties although worth the effort for the result. The grapes are brighter green than say sauvignon grapes and produce higher alcohol... Read review

beast of a bat
Review of kookabura little beast cricket bat by  danrugby2005

Advantages: a really nice middle
Disadvantages: Kashmir Willow

...LOOKS This Bat in my view is one of the best looking bats around and has not got to much pictures on the bat like the Kookaburra angry beast. I think the blue and red go very well together and really look good. Even the grip fits in with the style having blue slashes on it done by "the beast". The beast itself is not overdone but it still noticeable from a distance. I think the fact that the wood is unbleached giving it a more white effect looks better for it's style than a darker wood. I love the looks because you can really show the bat off and not worry about being seen bating with it. POWER The middle on this bat is awesome you can hit a cricket ball miles and you really know when you have caught it right. As for the bat itself it is very forgiving of bad shots and has a lot of power. The bat has great power considering... Read review

The great and painful sport that is hockey!!
Review of Hockey - General by  kingchris

Advantages: A great sport to play, really exciting and enjoyable
Disadvantages: Injuries do sometimes occur, and they are usually painful, some equipment expensive

.... But there are also a lot of other makes of hockey stick, such as Kookaburra and Slazenger. The hockey balls Hockey balls are made of solid plastic and come in many colours. There are also two forms they can come in, dimpled and smooth. Many brands make hockey balls, such as Slazenger, Kookaburra and Grays. Other Equipment needed There are a few other pieces of equipment that are optional and some that are compulsory. Shin-pads are one of the compulsory pieces of equipment that are needed. Without playing in shin-pads, you are open to injuries that you would not get while wearing shin-pads. They are one of the most important pieces of equipment. There are also a couple pieces of optional equipment. You can wear gum shields to protect yourself from lifted balls heading towards you mouth, although these are rare for starting players. Another... Read review

Can You Do The Cancan?
Review of Kangaroos Cancan Cafe - Julia Jarman by  neenn

Advantages: Bright illustrations, rhyming text.
Disadvantages: None

...I just came across this book in the school library the other day and it was the thought of a cancan relating to a children's book that drew me to it. Julia Jarman wrote this book after two trips: the first to her son's wedding in Australia where she saw kangaroos, kookaburras, possums, wombats etc and the second was a trip to France and while sitting in a French cafe the following words came in to her head: " Kangaroo went to France and saw a great dance....." ~ The story ~ It begins with the sentence above... He sat every day in the cafe enjoying the cancan. On returning to his homeland he missed the dance so much that he thought he would make his own cancan troupe and began to hold auditions. The first to turn up for the auditions was a wombat in a tutu! Shortly followed by a pot-bellied pig whose trotters were too... Read review

Fit for a King
Review of Birdland Park and Gardens by  salem_witch

Advantages: Plenty to do. Cute penguins
Disadvantages: Not good for those who don't like birds

...clear. This could have been that I wasn't right at the front but where I was stood I still should have been able to hear what he was saying. I found myself having to concentrate on what he was saying and then after a while I gave up. I thought it could be that the microphone wasn't close to his mouth (or maybe too close) as he sound really muffled. Throughout the park there are various aviaries containing different birds. I can't remember which was in everyone and if I could remember I'm sure telling you about all of them would make a boring read. So I'll mention some of what they have. The first thing that I really want to mention is the Kookaburra. When we approached the aviary he (or indeed she) was sat on a branch with a dead mouse. This is obviously what they had just put in the cage to feed it. What was really funny was the fact... Read review

AUSTRALIA
Review of General: South Australia by  rokkafella8

Advantages: Too many to mention
Disadvantages: None

...setting overlooking the river where they kept their 24 footer boat. Our party of eight boarded the ‘Pelican’ and set sail at a steady six knots to see the 90 mile beach, calling at Fraser Island, a small privately-owned island with its own golf course, tennis courts, swimming pools and airstrip. It was used for corporate holidays by companies to entertain VIP’s in the luxury 12 bedroom hotel. There was no one in residence at the time, apart from managerial staff who were friends of our hosts. As well as the odd kangaroo we witnessed
