La Prairie for those who don't know (and I didn't either until this was bought for me as a birthday present from my mum) is a high-end cosmetics brand, founded in Switzerland in 1982. FOAM CLEANSER Despite being in one of the most expensive ranges around, La Prairie stick to a simple self-explanatory 'foam cleanser' name. ...Like all other Origins products their cream cleanser, called Pure Cream, is packaged really nicely. Slightly unusually for a bathroom product it comes in a heavy glass jar which some people might not like due to the whole glass in the bathroom thing, but I like it and I think it'd survive a fall onto our floor anyway because it's not made from hard tiles and the container is thick and sturdy. Cream cleansers may not be something that everyone is familiar with but they are basically exactly what the name implies - creams which cleanse. It sounds like a bizarre concept at first because most people are used to foamy soapy things for cleaning their skin, but having tried (and loved!) a free La Prairie sample of their cream cleanser I was keen to hunt down a cheaper alternative. ...Finding a base that suits you is the hardest thing about getting your make up right. Without a flawless base, you can't expect to be happy with any look you try to create. However, it is important to look after your skin and not expect foundation to do that for you, or you will never find the miracle cure you're looking for. Exfoliating once a week helps shift dead skin cells and create a smooth base for the foundation to glide onto. Having used various expensive foundations I was pretty sick of buying the wrong thing, and getting the wrong shade of foundation was an expensive mistake to make. Being a student, I think it is just silly to spend what companies such as La Prairie asks (£90+) in order to get a flawlass base. The reason why I have gone into such detail with this opening cue is because it is not easy for us today to really understand how new and strange this main theme sounded like back in 1967. The sheer unusualness of the orchestrations, guitar, native voices, male choir, strings, trumpets, whistling, saxophone, drums, all treated individually and uniquely within a three minute cue make for a very interesting listen. Apart from the main theme that crops up often during the score in different variations, depending on which of the three men is being depicted, there is also a world-weary, long-drawn melody that is the very essence of resignation in Western music, appearing in cues like "La Missione San Antonio" and "The Death of a Soldier". The content of largely for women but theres plenty for men too, The main roducts are womens skincare and makeup, theres also womens and mens fragrances,which arent hugely cheaper but you can come across the occasional bargain.
