...The LaCie d2 ‘Big Disk’ is the fastest and biggest external hard disk drive that I’ve ever seen for consumer use. I handle so much data for the three businesses that I run that I needed a back up drive that could handle everything I had. This meant backing up entire, built in, drives and imaging them to the LaCie d2 ‘Big Disk’ (as they now call it). LaCie now manufacture even bigger capacity disks but they have a price to match, this one is available at around £250.00 on-line. It’s heavier than you imagine when you actually get to take it out of the box, but what superb build quality, so solid and robust. It runs quietly as the casing acts as the heat sink, no noisy fans. Disadvantages: Failed and no guarantee from Lacie

...My drive failed only half way through its two year guarantee period. Lacie do not offer any data recovery only repair. I then found out that they will not honor their guarantee even after a specialist data recovery firm using all the required clean rooms recover the data. This means that all my data is either gone or I have to pay nearly £1000 for the data recovery and then pay again for the drive to be repaired. With these drives they house 2x 500gb drives and this means twice the price for data recovery. On speaking to the data recovery experts they have seen a huge increase in Lacie drives being sent in due to failure and have advised that these do not handle the data well they should do. Advantages: So easy to set up
Disadvantages: Firewire not the most popular port

...I chose an external hard drive over an internal drive as when I chose it my pc at the time had the maximum number of hard drives, which would fit in my pc. However I still needed space and felt it was a waste to take out a smaller drive to replace for a larger one so as a last resort I looked at the external option. It was then I saw LaCie and the d2 range and I knew I had to have it. I looked at higher capacity LaCie drives, but at the time I purchased it, the 120 Gb was the highest one, which also seemed to have a reasonable and worthwhile price. Now after owning for over two years I still find it ample space!! I found the drive simple to connect, I only had to load on the software (drivers), plug it in and follow the simple instructions and it is completely formatted to your chosen specifications. Advantages: reliable, quick to use
Disadvantages: A bit large for day to day use

...I have had this hard-drive for a far while now and i must say that i have been very happy with it. It isn't anything special and there aren't really any advantages over other portable hard-drives. However it's main asset is it's reliabilty. This relaiblity is what makes me reccommend this hard-drive to potential buyers. For me it is better to have a storage device that will work everytime you connect it to the computer rather than something flashy which looks stylish - not to say that the lacie is hideous. In terms of performance the lacie ticks all the boxes again. It is quickly found by the computer as soo as its connected and then its very easy to find in the 'My Computer' folder. Conncetion is done by either/both wires which are both USB compatible, on older computers i found i had to connect both wires but on my relatively new... Read review

Advantages: Brilliant color, and sharpness suitable for DTP and graphics use.
Disadvantages: It takes time to set the color temperature correctly, does not feature professional color profiles.

...I recently purchased this monitor, basing my decision only on the recomendation from a colleague. This screen now stands confidently right alongside a Sony P-234 professional grade widescreen monitor which is regarded as a high end screen and which cost me almost twice as much as the LaCie LCD120. Both the Sony and the LaCie share the same response times although the Sony has a higher native resolution at 1920 x 1200 which manages to accomodate 1080 HDTV without a problem, this is not the case with the LaCie monitor. This said however, in terms of the contrast, the accuracy and realism of the Color, which is a close match to the hues displayed by the Sony (which displays industry standard color profiles such as sRGB), and the sharpness (a dot pitch of 0.255mm) , this monitor is very satisfying indeed and and is suitablle for DTP... ...Kingston Lacy A 17th Century house, designed by Sir Roger Pratt for Sir Ralph Bankes to replace his ruined family seat at Corfe Castle. The house was altered by Sir Charles Barry in the 19th Century, the house contains the outstanding collection of paintings and other works of art accumulated by William Bankes. It is famous for its dramatic Spanish Room, with walls hung in magnificent gilded leather. The house and gardnes are set in a wooded park with attractive waymarked paths. The surrounding estate is crossed by many paths and dominated by the Iron Age hill fort Badbury Rings. The botanically rich rings are managed by cattle grazing on them and unfortunately dogs are no longer permitted within the rings themselves. A very good day out.... Read review

Advantages: Great speed, agitly and he is great to watch.

After paying Rikishi to run over Stone cold over 1 year and a half ago, Stone cold found out in october that it was Triple H who put him ut of action for a year. Since october the feud between these two superstart has been draggin on. Stone cold dropped Triple H from 30 feet in the air with a fork lift truck whilst Triple H was in a car. Then Triple H came back in January after the Hell in a cell at Armageddon and cost austin his WWF title shot and hit him over the head with a lead pipe. ...LaCie have obviously marketed this external drive at the people who want both a functional computer system and a good-looking one. The drive has been designed with F. A. Porsche and has a nice minimalist look to it, a metallic grey case with all most mirrored front the drive looks great, even better when stacked with another one. With only one LED on the front your not left with loads of bright lights flashing at you when your trying to keep the room dark when playing games or movies. The drive is also very quiet to the point where you need to look at the light to ensure its still on. LaCie have released the drive in a range of sizes with a range of connection such as USB and Firewire so whatever your need you should be able to find a drive to suit. I personally purchased the 250GB as it was both the largest and best value for money... Read review

...that this was a 'USB-ethernet connection' which is 'intended to be slower than ethernet', and always ended the support with the instructions for resetting the unit to its factory defaults ... Among its limitations, the unit cannot be formatted to NTFS for example, cannot be defragmented and big files are welcomed with a 'no-no'. If you plan to expand the unit via its USB expansion port, you need to format the new drive to FAT32, and doom it to the general slow performance of the unit. Big files are directly rejected with writting errors. I had this problem with a 1.07 GB and 727 MB files. LAcie support didn't help of course... It also vibrates a lot, so I put it over its own 'egg-packet' box, so it does not make my table seems a washing machine. The idea was good, the design is good but the implementation sucks, just in the general way of Lacie products... Read review
