XIOD 17in Flat Panel, superb budget LCD monitor.
Review of XIOD IM17SM by
tomhughes
Advantages: Great picture, very stylish, very small footprint, good value.
Disadvantages: Tricky to clean, unknown brand.
...I'm writing this review in front of my Xiod IM17SM flat panel monitor which I am absolutely over the moon with. I don't know how I ever coped with CRT!
I had been looking into LCD monitors for a while due to a lack of space on my desk and the general ugliness of my existing CRT but was obviously put off by the price and wasn't really sure about picture quality of LCD screens.
I was pretty sure my £230 budget wouldn't accomodate anything larger than a 15" screen (which would have been a little smaller than my CRT) but I was prepared to make the sacrifice.
When I saw this monitor up for sale on eBay, I thought well why not, it has to be worth a go. I did a little research into the Xiod brand and found that it is a budget subsidiary of Samsung, who I knew made decent LCD panels. Whacked in a bid and won the monitor for £215...

Philips 17PF9946
Review of Philips 17 PF 9946 by
bowdeni
Advantages: Good picture quality, good looks, easy to set up
Disadvantages: lacks integrated freeview, picture could be better
.... I feel the 17PF9946 perfoms very well in these two catagories. Picture quality , while not as good as conventional CRT, is very good. I was very impressed with the picture quality of the 17PF9946 and still am. There is pixellation usually but from a good distance back, it is not noticable. The colours of the television are natural and I have experienced no ghost images to date. Some competiting products have very poor picture.
The other feature that helped me choose to buy this product was the sound quality. With the television build naturally being flat, sound with LCD televisions can be light, lacking bass. The sound quality of the 17PF9946 is good for a television, but I still perfer to connect it to my hifi for top range audio. For use in a bedroom, or small living room, the audio is very acceptable. The other factor...

A Sharp LCD at the cutting edge of technology.
Review of Sharp LC17SH1E by
eldergill
Advantages: Slim, sexy(?), great picture, good sound, easy to setup, value
Disadvantages: None ..... yet
...A few months ago I was fortunate enough to receive a nice bonus from work. With a relatively new baby, an outdated wardrobe and many household repairs needed, you can imagine what a difficult job it was to assign these funds to a specific project or product. The Better Half desperately needed new clothes, the house needed a major decoration and the baby required everything! Obviously there was only one thing for it … er …buy a new TV!
Well, to be fair, we had just bought some lovely new white furniture for the bedroom and then realised that the black portable TV didn't look good on it. The answer - in the interest of aestheticism, of course, was to purchase a new silver 17 inch Widescreen LCD television! Dogs gonads!
Following some extensive research (basically dependent on price), we opted for the Sharp LC-17SH1E, a gorgeous...

Save some space with this stylish 15" LCD TV!!
Review of Mikomi 15 LCD 250 by
yours_ilze
Advantages: Stylish, Light, Cheap, Good Size, Quality Sound & Vision
Disadvantages: Not suitable for use as a PC monitor
...the cheapest LCD Tv, but got some money to spend in store in return :)
The box with TV was quite light - about 7kg and it had a plastic handle that made it quite easy to carry it.
As I came home, I have opened the box and placed my TV onto my study table! It fit there quite well as it is so slim and small in comparison to standard size tvs. The actual size of it including stand is: (H)39, (W)37.8 and (D)17cm with 15" or 38cm visible screen size. In terms of width - it is as wide as my laptop so I placed it just behind my laptop and when I need to watch it, I just close the lid of my lap top :) so simple.
In terms of installation... its kind of easy - all I had to do - plug in power cable at the back of TV, plug in the SCART socket from my Homechoice Box and Its all set! :)
I did not use an instruction book yet as I do not have a TV cable...

Sony 17" LCD Television - UPDATED
Review of Sony MFM-HT75W by
rhyrhy1
Advantages: Great Screen Quality, and durability
Disadvantages: None
...History
Established in 1945 as a Radio repair company, Sony has gone form strength to strength and has introduced the extremely popular playstation, and is at the forefront of technology.
Introduction
The MFM-HT75W, is a 17” HD ready LCD Sony television. It incorporates great looks with a fantastic picture. I purchased my television late 2005, and have decided to update my review. The choices that I faced when deciding which television to buy were how big, how much, and what make. In the end I decided that I should give myself a budget of £300, and would try to get a widescreen 15” to 19” television. Then I had to decide which make, it needed to be reputable which knocked outmost of the Argos televisions, and a great deal of other makes. I narrowed it down to 4 makes, Panasonic; Sony; Philips; or Goodman’s, I then thought that I had...

Good LCD from Goodmans
Review of Goodmans GLCD17WDVD by
cooldude28
Advantages: Great digital quality
Disadvantages: None
..., and there is a speaker that runs along the bottom of the LCD.
The television goes on the wall. Quite easy, but when I bought this, I did need to buy a kit which set me back around £20. I did think that this would be included, but yet again, it was a small box. But I am glad I payed the extra £20, to get a good bracket to go on the wall.
The screen is non-shiney. People look at me in a weird way when I say that, but some TV's have a shiney screen, which reflect light when not in use. The size of the screen is 17 inches. I thought the size was good, and worth the price that I payed in store. The size was not too big or small for my bedroom.
The sound comes out of the speaker which runs along the bottom of the LCD TV, with great sound. The bedroom which I have the TV in is small, but with my previous TV, which was a bulky old set, did not come close...

Venturing into the world of budget LCD televisions
Review of Bush LCD 26 TV 016 HD by
Mainflava
Advantages: Easy to tune; clear, high quality picture, good sound
Disadvantages: None that I can see so far
....
Screen size......
Having looked at a number of flat panel TVs with screen sizes ranging from 15 to 32 inches, I decided to upgrade my normal screen size from 15 inches to 26 inches in order to provide that home cinema feel in a relatively small room. While large screens were also appealing, a combination of a tight budget (see above) and a small room with which the set would be located, forced my hand into the sub 32 inch category.
Bush LCD 26 inch TV
Eventually, after much searching, I stumbled across the above televison on offer for a shade over £300 including delivery - well inside my projected budget. On receipt of the television, I was suprised at just how light it was; weighing in at less than 17 kg meant that should I need to wall mount the unit, I could get away with much cheaper brackets and, I could even contemplate the tilt...

NEC MultiSync LCD1770NX
Review of NEC MultiSync LCD1770NX by
owais997
Advantages: circular base, smooth, rounded edges with easy height and tilt and swivel adjustability
Disadvantages: The viewing angle loses contrast pretty quickly
...The 17” NEC MultiSync LCD1770NX, a flat-panel monitor featuring a thin-frame design, enhances your visual experience with superior screen performance, advanced technologies and comforting design elements. This model's Ambix dual-input technology ensures compatibility with today's and tomorrow's computer systems, while an integrated USB 2.0 hub connects you to all of your peripherals.
The LCD1770NX model has a circular base, smooth, rounded edges with easy height and tilt and swivel adjustability. This display does not
pivot.
The viewing angle loses contrast pretty quickly when moving left to right in front of the screen, but I found text to be very legible, even at small point sizes.
Straight out of the box, and without adjustment, the LCD1770NX display had a distinct blue cast, most noticeable in gray areas of an image...
