Reviews of led zeppelin
Yet another classic
Review of Led Zeppelin III [Remastered] - Led Zeppelin by
yhwman
Advantages: Lots of great tracks
Disadvantages: Hat's Of to (Roy) Harper
...Did Led Zeppelin ever make a bad album? I’ve yet to hear it if they have. This album is standard Led Zep fare, though standard isn’t really a word that applies to Led Zepplin. There’s bright and breezy tracks like Celebration Day, more soulful tracks like Since I’ve Been Loving You, as well as acoustic tracks like Gallows Pole. The only bad track on the album is Hats Of to (Roy) Harper, which sounds like it was recorded during a coffee break. Other than that it’s yet another great, timeless album from Led Zeppelin and one I enjoy listening to on a regular basis....

Led Zeppelin - The Original Gods Of Rock
Review of Led Zeppelin by
apachetear
Advantages: Fantastic band that helped define 'rock'!
Disadvantages: No longer a band.
...Led Zeppelin are the epitome of 70's rock. They helped create the genre of rock and heavy metal.
Led Zeppelin started off as what was essentially a bluesy rock band. Their first album [the self titled "Led Zeppelin"] was a mish mash of blues and material Jimmy Page took with him from his Yardbirds days. Good examples of this period of blues rock is "Dazed and Confused", "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" and "Good Times Bad Times"
This album got heavily slated by the press, though it still climbed speedily through the charts.
The next album "Led Zeppelin II" was much more in the vein of hard rock, it really revolutionised the genre. The anthemic riff from "Whole Lotta Love" [for those of you not familiar with this song - it was used as the Top of The Pops theme song] set the style and pace for all the future rock bands to come. The riff...

Not quite in through the in door..
Review of In Through The Out Door [Remastered] - Led Zeppelin by
lumpbucket
Advantages: It's Led Zeppelin.
Disadvantages: A bit off colour.
...I think this is Led Zeppelins 7th album, released before Coda in 1979 and ultimatley before the bands disbandonment after John Bonams death.
I got this album after hearing most of Zeppelins earlier stuff, and I have to say that it isn't quite as good..
However. This is still Led Zeppelin, probably one of the most influencial bands ever, so there are still many amazing things about this album.
This album is mainly influenced by John Paul Jones and Robert Plant. Jimmy Page wasn't as involved as he had a serious drug problem. The JPJ influence is clear throughout, as the usual intense guitar solos of Page have been replaced by JPJ's piano or organ. This may seem strange at first, but it's nice to hear Zeppelin in a different way.
All the songs are pretty uplifting and catchy, but none of them are as energetic as, say, Immigrant Song...

The greatest album ever made
Review of Led Zeppelin II (Vinyl Replica Edition) [Digipak] [Remastered] - Led Zeppelin by
bigdoug
Advantages: Every track a gift
Disadvantages: n/a
...Everybody knows Led Zeppelin as one of the best rock 'n roll bands ever. And, in my opinion, Led Zeppelin II is one of the best albums ever made. It has the popular rockers like "Heartbreaker" and "Whole Lotta Love," but probably my favorite song is "Bring it on Home" (last track of the album). This song is just amazing. When I bought the album (when i was 13) I just wanted to hear the popular stuff, but "Bring it on Home" truly made me a Zephead. The legacy of John Bonham's drumming is also featured in this album in "Moby Dick." It is just a great all-around album. If you don't have this album (yes, all 10 of you) I recommend you buy it as soon as possible. What kind of CD collection does not have Zeppelin II???...

The return of Led Zep?
Review of Walking Into Clarksdale - Jimmy Page/Robert Plant by
yhwman
Advantages: Most high
Disadvantages: Mostly everything else if of a lesser quality
...I bought this album on the strength of the single, Most High and me very much liking Led Zeppelin. Unfortunately I was disappointed, it’s a fairly weak album. Opening track ‘Shining in the Light’ is a good track and so is the next, ‘when the world was young’. A lot of the album though is just to staid, it seems like the fire that drove Page & Plant through the Led Zeppelin years is going out. The only track that has any drive to it is ‘Most High’, a fantastic song that features Arabic overtones. I would suggest you listen to this album before buying it....

Big Rock Candy Mountain
Review of Led Zeppelin IV (Remastered) - Led Zeppelin by
mikeydred
Advantages: A definitive rock album
Disadvantages: None
...There are two Led Zeppelin albums that vie for the accolade of their best album, this and Physical Graffitti.
This album is also known as the runes album, or four symbols, due to the four runic symbols present (one for each band member) in lieu of a title.
It opens with two monstrous tracks Rock'n'Roll and Black Dog both containing enough energy and killer riffs that stretch to a full album for many a lesser band.
After this aural assault the listener is given a respite in the form of the folky "Battle of Evermore", featuring the late Sandy Denny (of Fairport Convention) on vocals.
This is followed by "Stairway to Heaven" , which Led Zeppelin's most famous and most covered song. An eight minute magnum opus, it's something you either love or hate. It starts out acoustically before building up to a massive instrumental crescendo...

Physically dominant
Review of Physical Graffiti [Remastered] - Led Zeppelin by
stephen_logan
Advantages: One of the finest albums created by the greatest commercial rock band ever
Disadvantages: A couple of weaker songs but that is it.
...A double album of complete and utter bona fide quality. This is arguably Zeppelins finest piece of studio work; only Led zeppelin II comes close really. It has an abstract quality, but yet has the simplest riffs and words. This is a fine blend of the bands various talents; it truly is their version of Frankenstein’s monster, an assortment of good parts used to create a perfect lasting imprint on music history. Few of the songs let down the album, which is blessed with one of zeppelins finest pieces 'Kashmir'. Can you get better than this... well yes in the form of the who's, 'who's next' but this truly was a masterpiece, as is physical graffiti, just to a partially lower extent. If you want a led zeppelin album to kick-start your collection, start with the best.
This album is one of those rare albums that encapsulates everything...

a whole lotta led or just led zeppelin
Review of A Whole Lotta Led, the best Led Zeppelin tribute band ever by
tigger_the_greeb
Advantages: music, talent, entusiasm etc
Disadvantages: no black hair on the gutarist
...wow. if i'd had my eyes closed i could have really believed i was wathing led zeppelin apart from the fact they dont tour or really exist any more. the vocalsit must have been robert plat in disguise. he sounded almost exactly like him. the guitarist also was extremely good. he knew all the songs all the sounds everything we hear in the songs and then some! they did a wonderful set including classics such as stairway to heaven, whole lotta love, black dog, battle of evermore( with mandolin), dazed and confused and need i go on. they did a really good acoustic set including battle of evermore and many others. the talent was brilliant, the enthusiasm was endless it was all there apart from the gutarist having blondish hair instead of black. i can i say if you go and see them make no plans to be back on time because just like the real thing...

Houses - Zep's unusual masterpiece
Review of Houses Of The Holy [Remastered] - Led Zeppelin by
joshholmes
Advantages: ground breaking experimentation, 6/8 superb tracks
Disadvantages: The Crunge
...Led Zeppelin's 5th studio album "Houses of the Holy" commences with the high octane, sex-driven "The Song Remains The Same". This, however, is not the precident for an album which contains amazing musical variety.
With the final strum of the opener still ringing in our ears, we're delicately introduced to 7 minutes 39 seconds of blissful ballad in "The Rain Song".
"Houses of the Holy" represents Led Zep at their hitherto most experimental, with mixed results. While "Dancing Days" plays like a superbly ominous monster-rocker, "The Crunge" is an unfortunate forray into the world of funk. They almost pull off their solitary career take on reggae during "D'Yer Mak'er" (meant to sound like "Jamaica"). Following this jokey number with the supremely eerie "No Quater" shows just how adventurous the band was being on this album.
"The Ocean...

A Majestic Album from the GrandMasters of Rock
Review of Led Zeppelin II (Vinyl Replica Edition) [Digipak] [Remastered] - Led Zeppelin by
thegrinder2k
Advantages: It's stunningly good
Disadvantages: None
...Today, British guitar music isn't up to much. Bands like Oasis, Reef, and the other "leftovers" of the mid-nineties Britpop Boom, are content to make repetitive, bland and utterly unoriginal rock albums, which immediately tire, and give rock a bad name. And ironically, Radiohead, the best of the few guitar bands that are willing to experiment and be daring and creative, seem to have shunned guitars for good.
So, if you want some truly great guitar rock, hark back to the Sixties, when Led Zeppelin - so named because an early critic predicted (wrongly) that they would "fall like a Lead Zeppelin" - were about to release their second album - the debatably correctly titled "Led Zeppelin 2".
My friend Henry introduced me to this album about two months ago, and since then it has barely left my CD player. It starts brilliantly...
