A level playing field?

Advantages: One of their best tracks is included.
Disadvantages: Quite a bit of dross.

...Levellers, The Levellers. This was the Levellers third album. The Levellers, by the time this had been released, had been a band for nearly five years, though their original vocalist left after album number 1, they were certainly getting well known outside of the punky/celtic/festival scene that was their origins. I certainly remember seeing them in London in 1990 and they had built up quite a following of students, squatters and festival goers. This album for me marked a bit of a change in direction and, in my opinion is not as good as the first album 'A Weapon called the Word', or the 2nd album, 'Levelling the Land'. It is almost like they have got better and more polished, yet lost something along the way. A welcome return of Level 42!
Review of Level 42 - Retroglide by beatlesgal25

Advantages: Very catchy, great to hear from them again
Disadvantages: May be too much of the same thing for some people

...but more of a "filler" track than a hit. I can't imagine that this one will get released any time soon. "When your ship comes in will you be ready to sail with the tide?..." 11. All I Need (Bonus Track) (5.25) A track to round off the album nicely. It starts with drums being reversed, then some nice harmonies and a verse in a minor key. This slowly moves into a more upbeat melody which again is quite catchy (are you sick of me saying this yet? Hehe.). As mentioned above, Boon provides a great guitar solo for this song. "On and on, how can I go on? I'm calling... All our lives we will strive, tell me what it means. The danger lies in trying to fly when you've no wings.
