Not cutting them too thinly. Pour over hot gravy. Put the lid on, close the steam hole, and turn the dial to auto. Leave it, and return at tea time to serve. If you do not want to cook something all day, you can use the high setting, to reduce the time. If you want to cook something all night long and into the next day, you use the low setting... ...either put them on low or cook them for a shorter time. ------------------- In my humble opinion:- My Cordon Bleu slow cooker has earnt it's money ten times over.I work hard and have a family of five to keep fed and I save so much time by being able to just throw the ingredients in "the pot".The food that is cooked in it is very very tender due to the slow long cooking process and smells and tastes delicious. It also provides me with a large oven dish when the need arises for conventional oven cooking. In the winter when it is a big cold rush to get three children to different schools early in the morning, I can at least serve them some nutritous hot porridge straight from the slow cooker(all prepared the night before)in less time than it takes to open a box of cerial !!! ...I'll start with the best bits about the cooker: From the moment I bought the appliance, I have had next to no trouble with it(see worst bits). It comes in bubble plastic so it's not damaged and its all ready to plug in. Once plugged in, you're up and away! It's made of strong, white porcelain which would be hard to crack. There is a layer of metal around which provides the heat, although there is an ever-cool coating on the outside so you can't get burned. The porcelain dish is removeable so once the meal has been cooked, the dish can be removed and placed on the table ready to serve. There is a glass lid which is very helpful. With a lot of slow cookers i have had, the lid has been the same colour as the dish and so i could not see in. Having a see-through lid ensures you know how well the food is cooked and if it's boiling, etc... Read review

...This slow cooker is well worth the investment. You can put the ingredients in before going to work in the morning, turn it on, and come home to a freshly cooked dinner. Thus far, I've learned that cooking stewing beef on high for 4 hours gives chewy results, but browning it first and then cooking it on low for 8 hours gives tender resutls with a good texture. The flavours have plenty of time to meld, yeilding a delectable broth. I've never cooked a stew with such well rounded flavours in a pot on the stove. The trick with vegetables is to cut them up into small pieces - I found that cubes of potatoes took 12 hours to cook on low, which was too long for my liking. Just remember not to put the ceramic section under cold water directly after cooking because that would make it crack.... Read review

...I bought this cooker 4 years ago now and have had no problems with it, it has been extremely reliable. ~Ceramic Hob~ The ceramic hob has four hot plates, these heat up very quickly so use less energy than traditional solid plates. The front left hotplate is an 1800w rapid plate, and the other three are rear left and front right at 1200 w and rear right is 1700w. ~Main Oven~ It has a large main oven that is fan assisted, which means more even cooking of food. It has a 53ltr capacity and has two removable shelves. ...Before Christmas we decided we needed a shiny new cooker to cook Christmas dinner on. I knew I wanted gas because I simply can't get to grips with cooking in an electric cooker, I wanted the grill underneath the hob (as opposed to at eye level) and I wanted different sized burners. Most importantly I wanted a shiny new SILVER cooker to go in my newly decorated kitchen. I looked everywhere.
