Madden 07
Review of Madden NFL 07 (PS3) by  legitaye

Advantages: A number of key features missing in Madden 06 have returned
Disadvantages: Game still lacks features available in other console versions of Madden

...Madden NFL 07 brings back practically every feature that was in Madden 06 (not a tough feat, considering how little there was to the package), as well as the superstar mode, which was heavily featured in the other console versions of Madden 06 but was absent in the 360 version. On top of that, a number of new gameplay upgrades have been brought to the table, the majority of which are available in all versions of the game. By themselves, none of these individual changes or upgrades is particularly game changing, but taken as a whole, they add a nice dimension of depth to the gameplay experience. Madden makes its PlayStation 3 debut in Madden NFL 07. These features include the highlight stick, a new kick meter, and lead blocking controls. The highlight stick is a new version of the truck stick used for runners on offense. Here, you can... Read review

Good, But Not Great
Review of Madden NFL 06 (Xbox 360) by  mjk_money

Advantages: Most Realistic NFL Game On Any Console
Disadvantages: Takes A While To Get Used To

...Having played previous Madden titles, I was a little disappointed when first playing Madden 06. One of the main problems is that the game feels generally as though you are being rushed through it. With not too much concentration on the tactical side of things. The commentry is very good for a Madden game, however the AI is a bit stupid and easy to beat in some cases. Generally the game helps you through, if you are new to American Football with advice on what plays to pick (you can ask the coach for advice, or as Madden himself for plays). The graphics are very good, but it does still lack realism. For example, when the QB throws the ball, the receiver always catches it - and only drops it if they are actually falling to the ground. Also, when rushing with the ball, the players seem to just run into each other, not knocking each other... Read review

Madden? You wish.
Review of NFL Tour (Xbox 360) by  BadboyHedgehog

Advantages: Interesting gameplay, easy to pick up.
Disadvantages: Exaggerated perks and limited plays.

...NFL Tour is a good game in that it features great gameplay and a twist on Madden. It is easy to pick up for beginners to American Football and plays are easy to follow. The player has the option to revert to Madden game-controls which I would recommend as it makes passing a lot easier, as each receiver is assigned a button on the Xbox 360 controller. The players special abilities on NFL Tour are highly exaggerated. Being a Chargers fan, the Running Back for San Diego, LaDainian Tomlinson is almost untouchable in this game, which can make plays repetative and over-used. NFL Tour features some nice gameplay options such as running off walls which adds a nice twist to American Football, giving it a feel of NFL Street. Overall, NFL Tour is a brilliant game for newbies to Football, but probably not a prime contender for serious Madden... Read review

Mad About Madden
Review of Madden NFL 06 (Xbox 360) by  Steve_Bear

Advantages: Great graphics, good gameplay, new modes
Disadvantages: Lack of realism

...Well.. another year brings another madden game out. Now, as the years have shown, not much has been added to each madden game as it progressed through the years. Just the teams stats grow or diminish. Well this year was different. The new Madden 06 has transformed itself into an amazing new game worthy of the name Madden and of the exclusive NFL licence! On Starting the game up, I felt good about this one, just a hunch but i felt good. The startup was basically the same with the EA logo and some random player/fan/cheerleader giving kudos to EA but then i skipped to the menu. No big difference there, the menu being the same, you get categories and then sub-categories. Then I clicked on game modes and found the illustrious NFL Superstar Mode. I started eagerly to see what it was like.. Nothing I have ever seen before. You choose parents... Read review

Madden 2007 (Wii)
Review of Madden NFL 07 (Wii) by  ciaojake

Advantages: Motion controlled movements, Realistic
Disadvantages: None really but takes abit getting used to controls

...Madden 2007 ----------------------- Madden 2007 on the wii is a whole new experience compared to the previous sequentials from madden. it puts you right in the mix of the action and you really feel as though you are on the field among some of the best NFL players out there such as warren sapp, peyton manning and brett favre. Gameplay ---------------- As soon as you put the disc into the console you are encountered with a tutorial to take you through the basic controls of the game and this is your first oppurtunity to get your hands on the controls and feel like you are in the NFL. Here are some of the basic movements and controls of the wii. To snap the ball = you flip the Wii Remote upward with a quick snap. To pass the ball = you simply press the button of the desired receiver, and flip the remote forward in a passing motion... Read review

A top sports sim
Review of Madden NFL 2000 (PSX) by  badcrumble

Advantages: Gameplay, stats, atmosphere
Disadvantages: Can be fiddly, confusing views

...Just one play of Madden NFL 2000 and you'll soon understand why it accurately reflects the brutal, take-no-prisoners appeal of the US's favourite bloodsport. Where else would commentators enthuse, "Whoa, there's a helmet loose!" obviously eagerly awaiting the first neck snap or knee-pop of the season? The good news for rookies and American Football experts alike is that this incarnation of Madden looks just superb. Player photos pop up at every opportunity, you can view the action from nice camera angles and there are more stats than ever the hungriest Statto could much his way through. While calling the plays is easy (because they're ones you've already selected from the playbook), actually getting them to work is a lot trickier. As with the the real thing, gritty shoulder-pad to shoulder-pad running and blocking plays are a much safer... Read review

PS2 Version of Madden 07
Review of Madden NFL 2006 (PSP) by  huw140269

Advantages: Best Madden Game Yet
Disadvantages: No online gameplay in the UK for the PS2

...it difficult to say why its the best Madden yet, as not much has been added since Madden 05.The two major things being Superstar Mode, not my thing but it does appear much better than the very basic option in the O5 game (you actually play from the viewpoint of the player you control and see the game through his eyes, and secondly the Run To Daylight feature where you can actually take control of an individual blocker and make the hole for your Running Back to run through, then either staying with the blocker while the CPU controls your runner or reverting back to the Running Back. This new feature is optional and in the same way as the vision cone was last time around can be switched off. On the whole the game is played in the same way as Madden O5 but in my opinions it just seems to be better. The whole feel is better - pretty vague I know but I... Read review

Madden NFL 2002
Review of Madden NFL 2001 (PS2) by  puneet_anand

Advantages: Better graphics and overall gamplay than previous version
Disadvantages: Not quite Fifa is it?

...Sorry This isn't quite in the right section I reviewed the 2002 version instead of the 2001-but you know newer is better. I'm just now finally finding time away from Madden to be OK, so I can write this review and continue with other reviews. What does this all mean? It means that Madden is a damn good game of football. First off, the graphics have been upgraded rather significantly since last year's version. At first the significance doesn't present itself, as the game initially appears to be quite like last years title... but after awhile you'll notice the differences. The player models have been refined, making the skinny receivers look skinny, and now the quarterbacks actually look like quarterbacks instead of muscle-bound linebackers. Hundreds of animations have been included, making seeing the same exact tackle a rare... Read review

Set the levels again John
Review of Madden NFL 2000 (PC) by  welshpete

Advantages: Quality Gameplay
Disadvantages: level settings, computer intelligence

...Ok, I have played plenty of American football sims (i still have the original Madden for my old megadrive) and have a good knowledge of the game, yet one thing irks me in an otherwise excellent game. For the last few editions of the Madden series, the skill levels have drifted apart to such an extent that on anything but the highest level it is fairly easy to thrash any team with even weak teams; yet the gap to the top levels means that the game is virtually unplayable. Also the much touted 'learning' computer player is obviously in the slow learners class. Alternate any two effective plays and they fall for it any time (the problem of course being that on the top level, NO plays work against the PC). I realise that AI isn't exactly prevalent in PC games, but surely the PC should be able to react when it sees the same plays called... Read review

Simply the Best
Review of Madden NFL 2000 (PC) by  jasyk

Advantages: Realistic and enjoyable gameplay, statistics tracking
Disadvantages: User interface not user friendly

...This is simply the best, longest running and most respected American football simualtions you can buy. I have bought every single version of the Madden series and this is simply the best version yet. More extra moves have been added to the players abilities and new plays to the playbook. The interface is also new and allows you to use the mouse with drag and drop functionality. I have to say that the one thing I would change about Madden 2000 is the interface. It is just not user friendly enough. The statistical side of the game has also been updated allowing you to track the statistics weekly against your team, division, conference and the whole NFL. You can also track the career statistics of players. The graphics are second to none and added details like the crowd chants, stadium announcers and players on the sidelines go... Read review
