...When Marc Jacobs launched his new fragrance, Daisy, the website was giving away small spray bottles on their website. I guess the people at Marc Jacobs must have liked me, one arrived through the post, then the next day several more turned up on my doormat the next day. I send for quite a few perfume samples, but I don't recall having liked any of the ones I've been sent in the past, this one however, I really liked, so I found myself glad to have been on the receiving end of their clerical error! ~Bottle~ Call me superficial, but I think the bottle is a huge plus point to buying a perfume - the prettier the bottle, the more drawn I am to trying a scent, and I like the bottle to be something I would be proud to display on my dressing table. For those of you who aren't in the know, Marc Jacobs is a popular New York designer, who set up his first collection in 1986. Since then, he appears to have gone from strength to strength and now has a chain od designer stores and boutiques, a full range of both mens and ladies wear and popular fragrances to go with each. ...I'm not really a perfume girl. I only wear perfume when I feel like it and my choice is usually based on how I feel that day. But I do go through phases, roughly once or twice a year, when I just want to have a new perfume to feel different. Marc Jacobs is another fragrance that I came across when I was craving for a change, a new fragrance. I've heard people speaking highly about this perfume before, so naturally, this went on the list of perfumes to try when I'm in the phase of craving for a new perfume. I was hoping for something softly refreshing. I tried this when I was shopping. I tried it on my wrist and I eagerly waited for it to settle to see if it worked for me. ...I am notoriously fussy about the perfumes I wear. I hate people who seem to bathe in perfume and end up smelling like a whores handbag (If you'll excuse my french, or for Denella, Un sac à main de putains)... As such, my current two scents, Envy by Gucci and Boss In Motion - Black, are light and subtle and have served me very very well over the past year and 18 months respectively. I found Marc Jacobs pour Homme whilst trawling around Debenhams whilst The Blonde was trying every single shade of foundation, eye shadow and lip gloss in the entire store. I was immediately drawn to the plain, elegant packaging (I like elegant things!) with absolutely no information about the product on it whatsoever, so decided to try it! Beautiful! ...I wear Marc Jacobs pour Homme as an aftershave having found it during the Summer. Imagine my absolute delight when I opened my stocking on Christmas morning to find the accompanying shower gel from The Blonde! I don't usually go for the additional products in sets like this because they inevitably disappoint me. They either don't smell as good, or feel like an afterthought for all of those Christmas sets that they want everyone to buy and aren't nearly of the same quality as the aftershave itself. I was pleasantly surprised by this shower gel though. Don't read too much into that, it's good, but isn't the best thing since sliced bread! It is packaged in a high quality white gloss box with very stark simple black lettering declaring that it is, in fact, Marc Jacobs pour Homme shower gel. Inside the box there is a solid corrugated... ...This is as Waterford as you can get - as Waterford as a "blaa" (those floury buns used for any meal of the day, and with any kind of filling). This impressive building, located on the Cork Road in the city stands out amongst its surroundings. It showcases the Waterford Crystal and Wedgewood products, and will also give guided tours where you can see the craftsmen fashioning each piece of crystal before it is ready for sale. There are many collections to be seen within the visitors centre - including those designed by Robert Mondavi, Marc Jacobs, Michael Aram, as well as collections such as Lismore, Ballet and Evolution. There are also lovely pieces of linen, pens, and some replacement parts available here too.
