really friendly
Review of Asda (Shop) by
zoelou
Advantages: most towns have em
Disadvantages: usually busy
...The staff at All Asda stores which i have been in have been really friendly.
they always are really willing to help. Asda stores sell clothes, food, alcohols, teddys/soft toys, electricals, gifts, CD/tapes, and tabacco.
they have a wide range of each product to suit everybodies financial needs.
the wines are great too, they sell the old traditional stuff such as whiskey to the younger choices such as alcopops.
Asda is not really expensive to shop too, well not as a expensive as Marks and Sparks, but not as cheap as Aldi.
the clothes are quite nice and starting to get trendy for younger people....

Houston...we have a problem
Review of Apollo 13 (Wide Screen) by
poodu
Advantages: Story of the Apollo 13 mission..what else do you need?!
Disadvantages: Clouded history...
...I didn't think I would like this film. Normally, these kind of historical fact films tend to exercise a certain amount of dramatic license. However, not too much in this case!
There has always been a lot of doubt surrounding the Apollo missions as a whole. Were they all staged in a giant hangar? Was Apollo 13 just an attempt to get people interested in the missions again? Who knows...
However, if it did happen as they show in the film, then this film is magical! It captures the imagination of eager space-goers and then takes you on a rollercoaster ride of "will they make it?" thoughts. Of course they will...we all know the history, this is a film, happy endings are stock in trade for these guys. But good films always make you worried about it just in case..that is the mark of a great film...and so it is in this one.
Tom Hanks, Bill...

My Opinion
Review of Iron Will (Wide Screen) by
ros145
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
...'Iron Will' is a movie to see if you are young enough at heart to enjoy it, young enough at heart to believe in an "against-all-odds-courage-finding" story. Maybe it's predictable Disney-type stuff, but by the end of it you are cheering along with the rest. Mackenzie is great as young (Iron) Will Stoneman, who loses his father in a dog-sled accident, and boards the train to Winnepeg to take part in a sled-race to Minnesota, the prize of which is $10,000 - and the motive behind it is to save his family's farm and send himself to college. Spacey is, as always, fantastic, as a ruthless reporter covering the sled-race for his newspaper, especially Will. Throughout the race he discovers, to his own surprise, a conscience, and a heart. It's a movie with a lot of heart, and the ending, while some may think it's pre-determined, is still...

Spinning down the showbiz drain
Review of ITV - Wheel of Fortune by
mattmorrison
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
...This program cracks me up. Along with Supermarket Sweep, it wins the title for Tackiest Gameshow on TV... EVER! It's just so appalling it's funny. Except it's not even as interesting as the Sweep, so it loses on that count too. The first host I remember was that Mark guy from Radio 1 with a funny surname who used to do the Top 40and then it was Bradley Walsh and now John Leslie. All as appalling as the next, and assistant Jenny Powell looks as 'CITV' as she always has done and always will. No-one will ever take her seriously. As a mark to show how the show has reduced in importance, popularity and reputation over the few years I have known it, the top prize used to be £20,000 or a £25,000 new car. Now all you get is £2,000. I don't think this program's success can be summed up in any better way....

New era
Review of Willennium - Will Smith by
Iva_Biggin
Advantages: Great cathcy lyrics,no swearing
Disadvantages: none
...you pull a John The Baptist (i.e. lose your head), and the BizMark and Rick add some nice touches. And then there's Pump Me Up with Will and Jeff. This reminded me of "The Magnificent Jazzy Jeff" - with Will's call and Jeff's response. And in case you forgot what Jeff could do with two tables - well, I'll leave that for you to find out. Here's something else I know you do not expect - Will's lyrics. To some, this is an oxymoron - but there are many examples of Will's lyrical improvement. Also, Will's not beating around the bush - he's bold this time around. You may be doubting, so here's some examples: "Volcanoes erupting, rage in the sea / Ain't the second coming of Christ, it's the first coming of me" (I'm Comin') How about this one: "I read in Rap Pages they referred to me as soft / Yeah, more like Microsoft / Will Gates of the rap game...

Welcome to Marks world.
Review of Member Advice on Living with an autistic child by
MandyMinx
Advantages: Absolutely none
Disadvantages: its a lonely life.
...into playgroups and nursery school but he showed no interest in the other children and would scream endlessly.
Iwent through a very bad time trying to explain what was happening to Mark and to my family.Mark was not like the other children and I just could not work out what I had done wrong to him to make him so different. He wanted no love or affection from me and gave none back.My child hated me and I could not work out why.I suffered from depression and had panic attacks and basically beat myself up with worry and the feeling that I could no longer cope.
It took until Mark was 8, for me to finally find someone willing to listen and understand.......most of the people I had gone to for help had took one look at the state I was in and put Marks problems down to me, and my inability to cope with my 'naughty child'.
Within 6 weeks Mark was diagnosed...

Punctilious Punctuation
Review of Everything that starts with P ... by
denella
Advantages: Well-punctuated writing is easier to understand
Disadvantages: Attention to detail is necessary
.../SPEECH MARKS/QUOTATION MARKS "
Double speech marks are used to indicate direct speech. They are opened before the first word that is spoken and closed after the final word that is actually spoken. A full stop, comma, question mark or exclamation mark should be placed after the last word but before the closing speech marks. Words and phrases such as 'she said' and 'he asked' are not included within the speech marks. A quotation used within direct speech can be placed in single inverted commas. Indirect or reported speech does not require the use of speech marks. Here are one or two examples:
"Will you remember to pick Robert up on your way home?" she asked.
He replied, "I've never forgotten to pick him up."
"Who first said, 'Variety is the spice of life'? Answer me that!" he challenged us.
They told us that it was too soon to make a reservation...

Review of The Gospel in Parable: Metaphor, Narrative and Theology in the Synoptic Gospels - John R. Donahue by
frkurt
Advantages: A good retelling and analysis of these tales
Disadvantages: -
...Donahue's book 'The Gospel in Parable' is an interesting text that looks at parables in the three synoptic gospels Matthew, Mark and Luke (parables as a rule are not found in John; this of course is subject to interpretation). The parables in these gospels, as the gospels themselves, take on different aspects that lend themselves to multiple interpretations.
Before looking at each gospel individually, Donahue looks at parables generally by asking the question, 'How does a parable mean?' This question might at first glance seem grammatically incorrect, but it highlights an important insight about parables. 'Through the language of Jesus we are in contact with his imagination as it brings to expression his self-understanding of his mission and his struggle with the mystery of his Father's will.' Donahue likens parables both to stories...

BHS: The ability to surprise
Review of BhS (Department Stores) by
Vspawn
Advantages: Low prices. Quality goods. Excellent Service.
Disadvantages: Small range. Some unpopular fashions.
...'t really any better in either store, it's just a matter of name and status.
Personally, anything that I like which I can get in BHS, I will, since the value for money is outstanding but a fair few times, they won't have what I want and thats where another store with a fuller range will serve better.
One thing that has made BHS stand out among department stores is the service. When I'm in Marks, or Westgate and I need assistance, it's hard to actually find someone and they usually just point me over to someone else. In BHS, if they can help you they will do so immediately and literally "drop everything". If they are unable to assist, they will always go themselves to get someone else to help and they never point - they always lead you there.
Trivial as it may sound, it is this kind of service which makes a big difference and keeps me...

Mikew79
Advantages: Affordable quality fast food
Disadvantages: Warmish milkshake
.... The staff are as willing and eager as ever, I do wonder about their system of bonus payments. Still full marks for keeping up the excellent standards of quality fast food in a clean environment. with a McDonalds restaurant you know that what you see is what you get !...
