Short and Sweet
Review of The Mr Men Series - Roger Hargreaves by
anguk
Advantages: children love them, timeless classics
Disadvantages: none
...Roger Hargreaves has got childrens writing off to a fine art. Short, simple and to the point, children love these books. I can remember reading the Mr. Men books to my younger brother many years ago now I read them to my young daughter.
The characters names are easy for young ones to remember as they are easily recognised from their pictures. The words are simple and it is not long before children can pick the story up and read it for themselves. The stories are quite short and well written, most of them seem to have a moral to them so children also learn something.
The spin-off TV series and other merchandise that you can buy make the Mr. Men series a winner with children and adults alike, they are timeless classics and no doubt in the future I'll be reading them to my grandchildren....

great hold
Review of Charles Worthington Men`s Gel by
Al
Advantages: strong hold
Disadvantages: gets flaky
...For some reason this hair gel is only for men, and again is designed for short hair only, it comes in a yellow tube and I guess it is expensive for what it is.
This is a very strong hold and it is not recommended if you like a casual look. The advantages are its strong hold, washes well and great smell. Unfortunately it can get flaky.
They use this gel in the charles Worthington salons and it is very good for going out styles, the product is made my L’oreal so its all good stuff....

Esqire
Review of Esquire by
Nazuku
Advantages: Good Value
Disadvantages: None
...This is a good quality mag for men that offers good value for money in the short term.
According to Wikipedia: "Esquire began as a racy publication for men, published by David A. Smart and Arnold Gingrich. [1] [2] It transformed itself into a more refined periodical with an emphasis on men's fashion and contributions by Ernest Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald. In the 1940s, the popularity of the Petty Girls and Vargas Girls provided a circulation boost. In the 1960s, Esquire helped pioneer the trend of New Journalism by publishing such writers as Norman Mailer, Tim O'Brien, John Sack, Gay Talese and Tom Wolfe. Under Harold Hayes, who ran it from 1961 to 1973, it became as distinctive as its oversized pages. The magazine shrank to the conventional 8½x11 in 1971."...

Review of Dax Wax by
Al
Advantages: great shape
Disadvantages: hard to get off
...There are hundreds of hair products in the market but none of them really say which is good for what hair type. This wax is good all round but red tin is specially designed for short hair. This is a very strong wax and its good for short hair but its even better if you have very strong straight hair. Oriental men will discover their hair are very straight and it makes it a nightmare to style it anyway but this can be a good solution,
The only bad side to it is getting it off your hands, you have to wash your hands around three times with soap till u get it clean...

...through the good and bad points of your answers. It gives you further information to click on, on the aspects of your answers such as more information on Alcohol, smoking etc.
THE CLINIC - To use the clinic you will need to register with the site. This is a simple process; all you need to do is fill out a short registration page.
CASE NOTES - This page is also very interesting. The facts that it shows you are very worrying indeed. It has made me realise that men are faced with some big health problems.
One of the interesting facts that can be found on this page is that, the suicide rate in men aged 16-25yrs has doubled over the past 25yrs.
THE WAITING ROOM - This page takes you to a discussion group. You need to be registered to use this page. It gives men the opportunity to ask questions and exchange ideas and information about men’s...

Amazing.
Review of Band Of Brothers - Stephen Ambrose by
jedistu
Advantages: An eye opener
Disadvantages: The pictures fell out of the middle of the book after a short time
...I bought this book shortly after the mini-series was first shown on TV. I wanted to know more about the likes of Richard Winters, Ron Spears and the rest of the men, and suspected that however faithfully Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks had tried to tell the stories of these extra-ordinary individuals, there might be more in the book. I was not disappointed.
The book starts, obviously, at the beginning of the war when, after the bombing of Pearl Harbour there was the inevitable rush of men from all walks of life, to join the armed forces. I found it particularly amusing to discover that the main reason for alot of the men enlisting in the Airborne Rangers, was not the fact that it was an elite regiment that jumped out of airplanes, but the fact that they would get paid an extra $50 per month, amazing.
At this point, Ambrose skillfully...

UPDATED 140101-the Evolution has begun
Review of X-Men DVD by
pakalang
Advantages: probably the best comic-to-movie film ever made!
Disadvantages: the film is pretty short, to make way for the sequels i guess..
...Xavier(brilliantly played by Patrick Stewart) have to struggle against humans and also other mutants who is against their cause--which is to bring humans and mutants alike living in harmony.
The storyline of X-Men is simple yet full of witt and humanity. The way it was shot with splendid special effects shows a lot of maturity of how Bryan Singer works as a filmmaker. With a brilliant cast especially Hugh Jackman(who was't known at all until X-Men) who played Wolverine, X-Men can do no wrong! The only drawback is the film is pretty short! (due to the small budget and time constraint Singer had to bear from Twentieth Century Fox!)
But, all is not lost especially when you bought the DVD(region 1). There's loads of bonus features included. One of the best is the 10 minutes of never before seen footage of the movie. It also includes a special...

more from the x-men
Review of X-Men - The Last Stand DVD by
atytyut2434
Advantages: good action
Disadvantages: poor sequal
...I'm reviewing the DVD version & I've watched it with both sets of commentary & seen all the deleted scenes but not the Easter Eggs. The film is too short and would have benefited for most of the deleted scenes being put back in. The film is based around Jean Greys transformation into Dark Phoenix. And right there the film makers lose everyone who isn't an X-men comic fan.
Killing off Scott (Cyclops), Jean and Charles (Professor Xavier) are all really bad ideas. Even with the little tease that he has moved bodies at the end of the film. Having Magneto lose his powers (or not?) and Mystique lose her powers too.
The film tries to use big action set pieces to make it watchable. And the fight in Jean's home and at the prison are over done far too much. Vinny Jones is just plain stupid as are Magneto's new sidekicks. the plot could have been...

Symbian with an attitude
Review of Nokia 6630 by
tartupets
Advantages: Design and user interface
Disadvantages: lagtime
...Nokia 6630 is not the best symbian phone.
It lags alot, and when you turn it on, it takes as many as 50 seconds until you can enter you PIN. And as you try to open applications shortly after turning it on, it lags even more.
And the casing is like the rest of the Nokia line. Very delicate and frightful for scratches.
And it uses MMC memory chips, that are almost impossiable to find nowdays.
But this is not a phone for hip hop culture. This phone cannot play music with stereo speakers. It cant change its color, when you talk to someone.
This phone is for people, who drive Jaguars and Sports coupes. This phone is capable of almost any modern application and you can make skype conference calls with it.
And the best thing about this phone, is that it looks so majestic and cool. Big and heavy, you can feel it in your pocket. Discrete...

I Am Little Miss Chatterbox
Review of The Mr Men Series - Roger Hargreaves by
littlepenguin
Advantages: A good read for young children.
Disadvantages: Too short, boring for older children.
...The Mr Men series is a very popular young children’s book collection. It contains characters that all of us can relate to in some way or another. For instance, I would have to be Little Miss Chatterbox.
There are over seventy Mr Men and Little Miss characters in total, which each has their own story.
The Mr Men programme is shown around three times a day on Nick Junior, and has my little sister staring at the television screen while the programme lasts.
The Roger Hargreaves stories are quite short and pretty boring, but keep ages from eighteen months to six years well entertained. The books usually cost £1.50, which you can buy from stores such as WHSmith.
A taster of Mr Men and Little Miss books –
MR CHATTERBOX – a bright pink man (Well, I say ‘man’ but really, he looks nothing like a man) who just...
