...Hmmm well, i'm unsure what there is to say about metal hammer. Do I talk about this month's issue? Or a previous issue which would be useful come next month I suppose. So instead I'm just going to talk about the magazine its self. Metal Hammer's first issue was in 1986, and is still producing more and more magazines. As you can guess from its name, the magazine is mostly about metal music/bands. The magazine always starts if with readers writing about their own opinion and sometimes the magazine its self replying to the reader. It also has at the start a small section called "Ask Jurgen" which is some Finish metal head having his own slot in the magazine. Advantages: Freeeeee CD!!!!

...OK, good mag, 1 thing to point out: The name (Metal Hammer) is slightly misleading. You would think (like I did) that it would be all about metal. So I was suprised to see an article on Terrorvision, no doubt they are a good quality rock band, but they're just not quite metal. Anyway, this is a good magazine, which delivers tonnes of good info on the latest bands. And £3.10 a month just about beats KERRANG! but they can't give you as much upto date news. For examples, this months (March) says that there are no dates for Ozzfest UK, and there are now. This is a bit of a let down, but they have included lots of good interesting interviews. And they manage to overcome KERRANG! by including a freed CD!!!! And unlike most which you get free (ie 'The Devils Music' from KERRANG!) it is actually pretty good, and I like all the songs. ...I have come across many jobs where a person has railings outside their house, either on balconies or around the edge of the garden, and over the years, I have found that Hammerite gives a wonderful hammered finish to this kind of work. What is a hammered finish ? When you put the paint on, it is smooth, but within moments, little bubbles appear on the surface that make the metal look like it has been hammered, which is the traditional way that ironwork was done. ...OK, so it's a silly name, but the content more than makes up for it - this is one of the few magazines where I'll buy a CD based on a review, and where more than 50% of the features interest me enough, and are sufficiently well written, to keep me reading to the end of the article. Obviously, if your not into metal of some description, then this isn't going to be for you, but the if you are, you're onto a good thing here. The coverage seems more balanced than either Kerrang! or Terrorizor - albeit swaying occasionally overmuch to the Kerrang end of the scale, and the fairly regular CD's seem to have a rather higher chance of pleasing with at least one track than many others. Being a monthly it's not so good for news, and the gig listings are frequently half out of date by the time it hits the shelf, but a rather good website does help... Read review

Advantages: The cd i bought had three bonus track aswell, which was nice.

...I first heard the track "Dust to dust" on a free metal hammer cd. This tune was really different to what i had been listening to and i had to play it on repeat at full volume for some time. This was why i bought the album, something i will not regret and neither will you. The Misfits were around in the 70's and 80's but split and now are composed of two of the original members. I have to admit i haven't heard any older or other stuff so i can't comment on the originality or how it compares to their other stuff. The music is meant to be metal/punk according to the esction i bought it from in the store. However i would say that it seems to have a more of a pop styling, compared to what i would consider metal or puunk this is no where near. The album is pretty easy to listen to with some interesting lyrics and some killer tunes.... Read review

...-box holes. This MUST be used in a rotary-stop drill like the DeWalt. Firstly, there is the borer. This looks like a Channel Tunnel boring machine for “00” scale trains. Just drill to 1.5" depth though, not the full 33 miles! Then turn off the rotary hammer action with a flick of the hammer action lever, and fit the second part, with is a squared metal box with sharpened edges. Position the square over the circular hole. The stationary hammer action literally vibrates away its corners, et voilà, one electrical wall box with no ragged edges in about two minutes. (You can make holes for twin sockets by carrying out the operation twice, but with each circular hole slightly overlapped on the other to give a kind on "number eight" shape). The tool cost about £90 and is called a Box Sinker. The time and effort saved is amazing... Read review

...The Black and Decker cordless 18v hammer drill comes in a carrying case with a battery and one hour charger. It has settings for drilling wood/metal, masonry/concrete, 5 torque settings for screw-driving, reverse and a keyless 3/8 chuck. The drill has always performed well whether I have used it as a screw-driver or a drill. The charged battery lasts well...several hundred screws into wood or enough holes drilled into brick to fasten 70 feet of dado rail to my walls. Although quite heavy it is well balanced and all the controls are easily accessible and clearly marked. When purchased roughly two years ago it cost £140 but they have fallen quite dramatically in price over that period and can be purchased for less than £100. ...Hammerite Hammered finish offers the same qualities as the smooth but gives you that extra finish that looks like it is more industrial and hard wearing. You'll pay around the £4.99 mark in the store for a 250ml can. Larger sizes of 500, 750 and 2.5 litres are also available but this gets a little more expensive. I have seen the stuff on our well known auction site for less so it is possible get it cheaper. I would say the hammered finish paint is a lot thicker than the smooth version and as such it is a little harder to use. However, with the paint being so thick it is virtually impossible to miss bits or not cover the areas your painting properly. The main thing I like about the hammered finish is that when it dries it obviously leaves a hammered finish. This means that it is very difficult to see any brush strokes once you have... I want to tell you about hammer and peg sets. I bought one at the charity shop for Adrian it cost me £1 the one I bought is a plastic one it has 6 brightly coloured pegs that can be hammered through the holes in the bench that it came with. There a variety of different peg, hammer and bench toys available with different numbers of pegs and different shaped benches. Some of them are wooden some plastic. They range in price from about £6 -£15.The one pictured on the opinion category is £12.50 from www. ...I do actually believe that this newspaper is the enemy for a lot of bands and singers these days. For example, in 1994 they featured an article on new indie sensations 'Shed Seven' and they couldn't give them enough publicity. Now, they seem to slate everything that they do/attempt to do, wishing that they had never got so famous. In my opinion, they are being so hypocritical, as they wouldn't be so successful without NME's help. NME, for me, was the only alternative to magazines such as Smash Hits and TOTP Magazine. Now it looks like it's heading in the same direction as they are. Features on bands like Destiny's Child happen often. This is not what alternative music lovers want to hear. Nor, do we want to hear about Slipknot or Limp Bizkit, as we find enough out about them in Kerrang and Metal Hammer. NME was the lighter... Read review
