Mexico a go go
Review of General: Mexico by  mikeydred

Advantages: Fantastic Scenery, Friendly People, Great Food, Cheap Drink
Disadvantages: Big and Hot

...cut off from the outside world , dependent on the odd local newspaper and a bad CNN connection for news. Don't expect the luxury of information you get at home. ~~ Film If we go on holiday we like to take pictures. I got four 35 mm films for six quid in Britain. The equivalent price for a single film in Mexico was around eight US Dollars. So get your films before you go out. ~~ Money US Dollars and Mexican Pesetas, though I keep calling them Pesos, were accepted everywhere we went. I don't think it matters too much which you go for. They also have a Cirrus ATM network, which meant I could use my Nationwide card to draw cash. ~~Phone Calls These are very expensive from Mexico to Britain. Try to avoid them. I tried using a public phone and it just kept asking for more pesetas, and ended up going through the hotel operator which cost... Read review

Barcelo Costa Mexico
Review of Cancun (Mexico) by  traceyk100

Advantages: Great staff
Disadvantages: None

...Barcelo Costa Mexico, Cancun I recently visited Mexico on June 2008 and I stayed in the Barceló Costa hotel. Barceló Costa is situated on the hotel zone in Cancun. The hotel zone is built along the beach so each hotel has got their own section along the beach with a beach bar and sun loungers. The hotel is near Cancun town which has bars, nightclubs, restaurants and shopping markets and a 5 minute bus trip which costs around 30pence GBP to get to. The hotel staff are very helpful and pleasant for example if you are lying on the beach there is one or two staff serving your drinks so there is no need to get off your seat. The staff in the restaurants is also helpful and can't do enough for you. The rooms are very spacious and decorated very modern. There is a king-size bed in the double room with a large television. The bathroom is also... Read review

THE BEST !!!!!!!!
Review of Cancun (Mexico) by  Hawthorn

Advantages: Brilliant beaches, day time activities and weather.
Disadvantages: NONE !!!

...In summer 1998 I went on a holiday to Cancun in Mexico. This was the best holiday I have ever been on, even though I have been to many other places such as Florida, Mexico was the best. The daytime activities were excellent with many watersports. At night there were lots of different places to go and things to do. The weather in Cancun was brilliant with clear skies every day except one where it rained but this was a refreshing change. The best bit about Mexico is the beaches which are brilliantly clean with golden sand and crystal clear waters, perfect for snorkeling. If you are planning to go to mexico then I would recommend going on an all inclusive holiday as this was one thing that really made the holiday special.... Read review

Corona Extra - La Cerveza Mas Fina
Review of Corona Extra by  budmeister

Advantages: Great taste and goes marvellously with tequilla!
Disadvantages: Hard to find

...drinking altenate Margaritas and Coronitas! Another hangover free trip!! After this I started my hunt for Corona in Britain and bought it where I could find it, which usually left me disappointed but was a nice surprise when I could find a place. A holiday in Mexico finally crowned this as my favorite lager / beer when at an All Inclusive hotel it was available on tap - FREE! (OK I'd already paid but that's not the point :-) ) It was in Mexico that I learned of the magic of Tequilla slammers with Corona chasers. What a holiday!! While in Mexico I learned that the label on the bottle was blue and white, because this is the colour of many bars in Mexico. This harks back to the days when not many people in Mexico could read, so shops were colour coded! Manufacturers still use this as an advertising tool for many things in Mexico. Anyway - when... Scooby Doo and the Monster of Mexico
Review of Scooby Doo And The Monster Of Mexico (Animated) by  Hansolo20x

Advantages: An original Scooby Doo mystery
Disadvantages: None if you like Scooby Doo

...Unfortunately I am one of the many parents who have to suffer with their children being Scooby Doo mad, Luckily I dont actually mind it......... My three year old loves anything Scooby Doo so we have bought him a number of the Scooby Doo animated films (As well as the live action movies). The Monster of Mexic story revolves around the gang taking a trip to Mexico to visit Freds penpal, all is not well and soon after there is an appearance from the Chupacabra (Mexicos answer to big foot). As with many of the gangs mysteries, the gang are usually running all over the place, but the soundtrack was good and animation excellent and the characters good. If you are a Scoody Doo this will appeal and the kids will love it!!! I have not had a chance to look at the extras as yet but there does seem to be a number of features that will appeal... Clubhotel Riu Negril
Review of Negril (Jamaica) by  Hmmmmm

Advantages: Beautiful place, beautiful people
Disadvantages: Entertainment could be better but wasn't too bad

...We visited the this stunning Hotel on our honeymoon. Two weeks in September 2005. We decided to get a private transfer to the hotel with Talk of the Town Tours. Soloman was fantastic, from the off we were immersed into the chilled out way of life that envelopes this amazing island. We arrived at the hotel to be greeted with a cocktail, just the trick after a long flight! We were then taken to our room, fully stocked with mini bar full of beer, Pepsi and water and optics of Vodka, Brandy, Gin, and rum -nice! The Beach was gorgeous, not like the Dom rep or Mexico (apparently) but we felt like we were in paradise every day. The food was fantastic, all inclusive from a main buffet which was really varied and a la carte steak house, italian and a 'posh' restaurant that had to be booked for night time eating. The staff were great... Read review

Great Holiday!!!!!
Review of Puerto Vallarta (Mexico) by  ADM

Advantages: Great unforgetable holiday!
Disadvantages: Long flight

...We went to Puerto Vallarta for 2 weeks on an all inclusive holiday. We booked it last minute, and then read up on it later, we were a bit worried when we found it was the rainy season, but when we got there everything was fine, it only rains in the evening. We stayed next to the Marina in the Vista club hotel. the people there are really friendly, and can't do enough to help you. The bus rides are cheap and fun, there is usually someone playing an insrument, or busking in some sort of way, but its all good fun.We went with First Choice, they were great, there are many excursions you can go on. i'd recommend going to Guadalahara, (the second largest city), to see what Mexico is really like! The watersports are limitless, From jet skis to sailing boats, there's someting to suit everyone, and if you don't like the sea, then there's always... Read review

Personal Response What A Change
Review of edreams.com by  bandoo

Advantages: Your Own Personal Rep.
Disadvantages: None

...I discovered the website edreams via a link from Lycos. Originally I just played their passport competition but then decided to actually investigate the site. The most noticeable thing about this site is that there are onsite reporters. So, if for instance you want to go to Mexico you can e-mail the Mexican rep. and get all the info. you require. I wanted some information on which were the best hotels for a family of five in Florida and within 48 hours I had a personal e-mail back from a rep. that actually lives in Florida. She advised me the best places to go and those to avoid ! She also explained some of the American terminolgy for bedroom and bed sizes so that we could book what we actually wanted. She explained that five people posed a bit of a booking nightmare but that she would check out some places and get back to me... Read review

Scuba Diving at Cozumel Island Mexico
Review of Mexico (Dive Sites) by  joannavos

Advantages: Crystal clear warm water, large variety of fish
Disadvantages: Mexico is not exactly next door to Britain!

...I first tried scuba diving when I was 17 in the local swimming pool. The scuba diving club were holding an open day and I decided to give it a try along with a friend I’d met at the swimming pool whilst part of the life saving club. (I intended to get summer work as a lifeguard.) It was great fun, but as I was in full time education, there was no way I could afford the gear required! My next scuba dive was also in a pool, while I was working as a lifeguard. We used to use scuba equipment to clean the pool to save having to come up for air!!! But then I went to Mexico for my honeymoon last August and I finally got to scuba dive somewhere other than a pool! I even got my husband to come with me and he loved it too. We stayed on Cozumel island which is a little island south east of Cancun. The hotel was literally... Read review

Casa del Balam Hotel, Merida
Review of Casa del Balam Hotel, Merida by  matt_fantastic

Advantages: A unique and quaint hotel...
Disadvantages: Lacking a few mod-cons...

...We stayed in this hotel for a few days while on a little tour of the Yucatan peninsula in Mexico, including visits to Cancun (don't bother), Playa del Carmen & Cozumel (much better) and the amazing ancient Mayan ruins at Uxmal, Chitzen Itza and Tulum. (I'll try and get round to reviewing all these later...) We arrived by taxi from Merida airport (a short journey), having flown in from Cancun, where we had arrived in Mexico the day before, and were delighed with what we found, a massive improvement of the brash touristy-ness of Cancun ! The Casa del Balam Hotel was formerly the family home of Fernando Barbachano Peon, pioneer of Mexican tourism. A blend of Mexican tiles, terracotta and wrought iron, it has a small pool in a walled courtyand, complete with a stone carved fountain and tropical plants, a restaurant and bar, along with 43...
