Clever microwave
Review of Sharp R362 by
wildtinsey
Advantages: Calculates cooking times for you.
Disadvantages: Having to weigh the food for the microwave to calculate the rest
...I bought this microwave several years ago in 1999 and has given me many years of reliable service. I bought it for a cost of £139.96 from Miller Brothers in Reading.
It is silver in colour so has a modern look about it and will fit in with most of the modern kitchen decors we find nowadays. The internal turntable is 12 inches and the cubic cabacity is 26 litres.
The power is 900W which is adequate without being underpowered.
It lacks the grill feature of many of todays microwaves but has a turntable to ensure even cooking.
I use if mainly for reheating of products. Also find it cooks a great jacket potato but i will go into more detail when i explain the features more fully.
I have cooked a syrup sponge from scratch using just the microwave and it did a great job, evenly cooked with none over or under done.
The recipe for this was found...

Hello old friend, I'll never betray you again.
Review of Hinari Lifestyle Microwave by
piggypine
Advantages: Can programme time to the exact second required.
Disadvantages: Quite small.
...capacity of 20 liters (0.7 cubic feet) it is an 800 watt microwave and with a weight of 16kg (boxed)
The microwave has a maximum cooking time of 99 minutes per setting. It's touch screen style buttons allow you to set the timer to the exact minute and second you desire so if you wish to cook something for 27.48 seconds you just enter that amount, all you do is press the "Time" section and use the individual number sections(0-9) to pick your time, then press "Cook" and off you go. You are able to stop the microwave to let the food rest without clearing the remaining amount of time, this is done simply by pressing the "Stop/Clear" section, press once for stop and twice if you wish to completely clear the screen.
You are able to adjust the microwaves power level by going through the "power level" section, you are able to adjust it through 10...

It does the job!
Review of Tesco MTG04SS by
RichardElse
Advantages: Simple basic microwave with a grill / not loaded with cooking options
Disadvantages: Two single grill elements at top rear (does not cover whole surface)
...When we bought our new house we needed a microwave quickly. I couldnt bare the thought of not having one since I always used the one at my mums without fail on a daily basis.
When we did decide to buy one we realised that all the microwaves we had seen just did the same thing. Various models had added basic functions such as defrosting and slow cooking of meats etc. This one was 900w and had an E rating.
We obviuousley knew Currys and electrical retailers were stocking microwaves but Tesco has its own selection of electrical goods.
When we found the microwave, it was one of two on the shelf. The only reason we purchased this one was to match the rest of the kitchen with the chrome electricals. Plus it was not to fancy either, after reading the box and information it did what we needed it to do and that was simply warm up the food...

A powerful experiance!
Review of Panasonic NNA 775 S by
anwar
Advantages: see review
Disadvantages: see review
...Just after Christmas my ancient Panasonic microwave died in a spectacular flash of orange light. It had been used on a daily basis for the past 5 years and I knew I wouldn't want to be without a microwave.
I started to do my research both on this site and in my local electrical stores to see what was on offer. I have always been a fan of Panasonic even given the dramatic ending of my previous appliance. I was disappointed by the finish of some of the other makes on offer. The Panasonic models on offer impressed me, as they looked more stylish than many of their rivals.
I decided to buy a combination microwave which combines not only a high power microwave but includes both an oven and a grill. The Panasonic NNA 775S inverter (more about the inverter bit later)! had all the features I wanted and looked the business. I really liked...

Ping Ping
Review of Early Learning Centre Electronic Microwave by
dibalmond
Advantages: Ideal pretend play, well made, good value for money
Disadvantages: none
...; A Fish
A corn on the cob
Inside the microwave is a small round turntable. When an item of food is placed on the turntable and the matching button on the control button is pressed the LED panel shows the cooking time. The cooking starts when the on/off button is pressed. As the food is cooking the turntable rotates and there is an orange glow that turns to red when it is nearly finished. The microwave pings just before cooking is finished, giving a final long ping to let you know the food is done.
My daughter has had the microwave since July last year and it is still one of her favourite toys. It is ideal for pretend play as it has the functions and noises of a real microwave. It is well made and like all the toys in our house has taken a good bashing by my boisterous 3-year-old, yet still works and looks as good as new.
I would...

Eerrrmm - Microwave.
Review of Panasonic NNT573S by
tekin21
Advantages: Looks stylish, easy to use
Disadvantages: Not found any yet
...for the Panasonic NNT573.
THE LOOK
It measures 20 wide x 12 tall x 13 deep, the casing and the control panel are all brushed stainless steel and the window is smoked glass – a light comes on when the MW is in operation and you can clearly see what cooking inside. All of the controls are push button (even the door opener). There is a green LED digital clock that displays the time in 12 hour clock format. All in all I feel the appearance is very neat without looking neither over technical nor too basic. Inside the microwave is a glass plate on rollers for the turntable.
THE FUNCTIONS
Cooking times can be selected manually using one or a combination of four buttons (10 mins, 10 secs, 1 min, 1 sec) as can power settings (High, defrost, medium, low, Simmer). There are also the obligatory start and stop buttons. This microwave is a category E 900W...

Microwave Madness!
Review of Panasonic NNA713A by
mightymuffin
Advantages: Looks fabulous, cooks like a dream, very reliable.
Disadvantages: Bit expensive
...I’ve had my Panasonic microwave/convector oven now for around eighteen months, and I can honestly say I couldn’t do without it. The particular model I have is the NNA713 version, which combines a standard microwave oven with 1000 watts, together with a fan-assisted convection oven and grill function.
When I bought this particular model, I was told by the salesman that it also has something called an ‘Inverter System’ inside. I remember he tried to use this little fact as a good selling-point, stating that an ‘Inverter System’ is some new type of Japanese technology, used in Japanese microwave ovens for some time, but only recently been used in this country. Apparently, it improves the cooking performance of the oven and it also means that I can benefit from increased space inside the oven, without it having to take up more space...

LG SolarDom Microwave Oven, Grill and fan oven
Review of LG Electronics MP9482 by
Soundsexciting
Advantages: reduced cooking time, microwave, grill and fan oven in one
Disadvantages: none
...of selecting the appropriate one before pressing the start button. When cooking is finished, a gentle beep sound is produced every minute or so until the door has been opened and closed. The fan also keeps running in order to slowly cool the oven down.
For more advanced operation, the oven can be programmed to use a comination of heating methods eg. microwave + halaogen or normal heating + halogen. It is in these modes that cooking time can be dramatically reduced.
Inside is pretty neat as well. For starters, the door opens downwards instead of left to right or right to left. Its also got a window on it so you can see you food cooking and make small adjustments to the cooking time without having to open the door.
When you do open the door you see a huge concave cavity where the turn-table is and on top of the turn table are two grills; a higher...

A very mixed bag of a Microwave.
Review of Sharp R953 by
peterkinxl5
Advantages: fantastic "Auto Cook" facillity (see review),full combination functions, an awful lot of choice.
Disadvantages: You will certainly need the instructions-which are poor(!),oven times etc inaccurate, possible to undercook, terribly difficult to clean.
...included is an Express Defrost function which enables food to be defrosted properly without any cooking taking place and a Ten part Auto Cook funtionwhich is so easy and gives superb results. I use this for cooking pizzas either fresh or frozen and the display panel keeps you fully informed as to whats going on.
So there is a superbly featured Combination Microwave capable of anything cooking wise-well almost.,is capable of producing some superb results and in my opinion is fairly priced.
So what are the drawbacks?
ONE MAJOR BOO-BOO-You cannot rely on the times for the Convection oven especially from frozen. If you are told 20 minutes at 230 C then in my experience add at least another ten minutes on. I've spoken to other people who own similar Sharp ovens and they have the same problem.
Other issues include poor instructions, a very...

Fast food anyone? **Updated**
Review of Cookworks E8017P-F by
fun2night4us
Advantages: Compact size with a large cooking compacity
Disadvantages: none
...Cookworks a brand name that can be trusted in the kitchen.
I was in need of a microwave, but did not want to spend a fortune on something that could live without. So while shopping around I did a little comparison research to find which microwave would give me the best value in respect to its cooking compacity, overall size, functions and ability to save space in my already small kitchen. In the end I came up with what seems to be the perfect microwave for my kitchen, a Cookworks E8017P-F.
The E8017P-F is a very compact microwave its size is 459mm x 268mm X296mm, yet it has a 17L cooking area compacity. So for the relatively small amount of space that it takes up on the kitchen counters it has the ability to cook or warm some pretty big items. It is perfect to warm that early morning travel mug of coffee right before heading off...
