Small Medium and Large SD Cards!
Review of Kingston SDC/2GB-2ADP Micro Secure Digital 2048 MB by
andycharger
Advantages: Lots of flexibility with devices
Disadvantages: Micro Size can be a bit fiddly
...You probably own a device of some sort that requires a flash memory card of some sort and more than likely its an SD (Secure Digital) style card. For a few years now SD memory cards have been one of the most popular methods of storage for digital cameras and some mobile phones. However, as all technology shrinks down, unfortunately so do the memory cards. Therefore a lot of of new phones require a "Micro" or "Mini" SD card.
Sounds ok but does that mean your existing card reader (That takes standard SD types of card) is now obsolete?
No, not at all!
The clever bods over at Kingston decided that they could make their new Micro SD cards backwards compatible for standard and Mini SD sizes by selling them with a pair of handy adapters.
Yes, when you buy the Kingston Micro SD, the card itself will fit into all of your Micro SD powered devices...

Small and Dinky
Review of Kingston MINI-SD Secure Digital 1024 MB by
pgn0
Advantages: cheap, hi-capacity storage for cameras and PDAs
Disadvantages: small, easily misplaced
...This is a review of the Kingston MINI-SD Secure Digital card, Kingston p/n SDM/1GB. The first picture above shows a blue "standard", not "mini" SD card and is a little misleading (thank you, Ciao)... the actual device under review is shown at the end of this review (or possibly as the second photo above if Ciao's photo selector is working).
***Geek warning: This review contains some seriously beep-bop technical guff, so if you are not of a technical bent, skip to the last 2 paragraphs, and photos, now! ***
One definition of a typical SD, or "Secure Digital", card: an attempt by some storage manufacturers to oust the more common disk drive, as a storage medium, from the ever-increasing plethora of hand-held devices that can store pictures, music, video, electronic files or e-mail... A primary argument for the widespread use...

Never been so easy.
Review of Sandisk MINI-SD Secure Digit. 512 MB by
moi098
Advantages: Easy to use, two uses for one price
Disadvantages: None found as of yet
...Having used this product I have had no problems as it is easy to use unlike some other memory cards that have had problems storing data. This product also comes in a range of different sizes of memory ranging from 128MB to 2GB so can be used for many purposes such as using a high resolution camera or even a lower resolution camera, these memory cards can also be used in some mobile phones that support them. Each memory card also comes with a SD card adapter this is helpful if you do not have the right card reader, you can just put the card into the adapter and it can be used as a more common SD card. Also this card is less than half the size of a standard SD card, or when used with the adapter can double up as a SD card for use in other items....

Carry Case Classic SD Card!
Review of Kingston SDC/2GB-2ADP Micro Secure Digital 2048 MB by
andycharger
Advantages: Carry Case, adapters, storage space, speed,
Disadvantages: Small and fiddly
...carry case serves a couple of functions. Firstly, it protects the Micro SD card when not in use and secondly, it houses the 2 adapters that come with the Micro SD card.
The 2 adapters are a great idea. While my phone takes the Micro SD card size, most of my other devices (camera, Laptop) all take traditional sized cards. So that my Micro card can be read in a standard SD card device, the adapter allows the smaller card to be slid into the Standard sized SD card adapter. This then fits perfectly into any SD card device and can be used like a standard card.
It also comes with a Mini SD card adapter.
Being Kingston memory, you can guarantee one thing. Reliability. It never suffers from read errors and can be rewritten 1000's of times. Handy when you consider lots of pictures can be snapped and deleted on it. It also has a very quick access time...

USB Card Reader With Free 1GB SD Card
Review of Kingston MobileLite 9-in-1 Reader by
Surj1
Advantages: 9 in 1 card reader, 1GB SD card, Compact design
Disadvantages: None
...reader with my laptop.
Main features and functions:
- Small compact design
- The slot on side A supports SD/SDHC, MMC, MMCmobile, RS MMC, and MMCplus card formats
- The slots on side B support microSD, MMCmicro, and miniSD card formats
- Small key ring
- 1GB SD memory card
- 5.8 x 3.8 x 0.6 inches
- 2 year warranty
Overall the Kingston MobileLite 9-in-1 Card Reader is a very useful device if you have a variety of other devices which use media cards for storage. When in use the MobileLite shows as three drive letters G:, H:, I: and transferring data is simply drag and drop. I bought this from Ebay and got it very cheap for £5, it retails at around £20. This was a bargain as you can't even get a 1GB SD card for that price. Overall a decent and useful device....

Small, but could it get any smaller?
Review of Sandisk MINI-SD Secure Digital 2048 MB by
skottic
Advantages: Compact, Holds alot of data, Value for money.
Disadvantages: Quite easy to loose, Could easily break as quite flimsy.
....
miniSD adapter allows it to be used in standard SD Card slots - As simple as plugging it into the adapter and putting it into your card slot on your pc /laptop
Compliant with the Secure Digital Music Initiative (SDMI) portable device requirements
Mechanical write protection switch on adapter - Just so you dont delete your pictures by accident so you know their safe as long as you switch it on.
So overall if your looking for a cheap sd card | | |
