Disatisfied Navman Customer
Review of Navman ICN 630 12 channel GPS receiver by
Idiotman
Advantages: Not a lot
Disadvantages: Quite a lot
...The Navman 630 V2 was purchased in July, 2004, cost was a little under
£900. I have used this unit in the u.k, also in europe. I have found it to be pretty reliable in getting you to your destinations. What it is not able to all ways do is, find destinations by post codes, like anything else that you buy electronically it, is never 100% perfect. I liked the images on the 3.8"
screen, they were in most cases very good although, in bright sunlight a bit more difficult to view. Now my gripe with Navman is this, and what a gripe. Having paid almost £900 not quite three years ago, I find out that this Navman 630 V2 is obsolete and that there is no upgrade software,
ie,V3 or SmartST 2005 or maps available. What a con. No doubt if, they keep software downloads available they perhaps wouldn't sell quite so many new units. I am in the market...

A great value Satnav
Review of Navman F20 GPS receiver by
colette1000
Advantages: User friendley, clear directions.
Disadvantages: Doesnt explain how to update very well.
...It took me ages to decide on a sat nav, based on the reviews of others I chose the Navman F20 and would just like to say how pleased I am with it.
The navman F20 offers great value for money and offers many of the same features that are found in more expensive models. Features include; 3.5" colour touch screen, 8 digit postcode search, latest GPS receiver technology, pre-loaded safety camera locations, nearest parking and fuel location buttons.
The beauty of this product is in its simplicity, its very easy to use with nice large buttons and its also easily mounted to the car windscreen. There is no hard to understand technical jargon and complex operating functions... just switch it on and your ready to go!.
The voice guided directions are clear and audiable. Directions are given in plenty of time and repeated close to the turn off...

AVOID ALL NAVMAN PRODUCTS - you've been warned!
Review of Navman ICN 630 12 channel GPS receiver by
Filteroil
Advantages: Transferable vehicle to vehicle
Disadvantages: Sold with out of date software, Navman support is the worst ever.
...I purchased a Navman ICN 630 in May 2005,
After a little research I found out that you can insert you own points of interest into the Navman (e.g Road safety camera database). I looked for advice as to how to do this and found out that you need Smartst version 3 installed on your unit. Hey this was a brand new unit surely it must have the latest software, WRONG!
I contacted Navman, Smartst Version 3 will cost you another £80, I protested at the aditional charge as there is no details on the packaging warning of additional charges for upgraded software.
Lets face it if you purchase a new PC you would expect Windows XP installed not 98.
And be warned £80 is for one country only!, more areas cost more again.
I contacted Navman several times regarding the above matter, I also questioned how they can sell smartst version 3 software...

Navman ICN 510
Review of Navman ICN 510 12 channel GPS receiver by
neil1424
Advantages: Easy use, looks good, accurate
Disadvantages: er...
...This Sat Nav is a lovely looking kit. it is sleek and the buttons are well placed and are of good quality. The screen is extremely clear and large. It is also nice and robust
Initial startup requires the SD card to be inserted and then the Maps loaded, this takes moments - new maps and upgrades are available from the Navman website - excellent!
To find a destination, the postcode entry screen takes a little time to load but then you can quickly and easily find your destination through several menus.
It calculates routes extremely quickly and options such as motorway route, speed/distance options mean multiple routes can be found
the Navman voice isn't too annoying. if you take a wrong turn or choose to go a different way the Navman recalculates quite quickly. Its very accurate for your position and has only once got confused...

Navman F20 A great piece of kit for little money
Review of Navman F20 by
mandilou66
Advantages: As good as Tom Tom
Disadvantages: None
...Until l i used the navman f20 i must admit that i always thought the best sat nav was tom tom. But I guess i was wrong.
The Navman F20, which is actually the cheaper end of the sat nav market is incredible value for money. It has exactly the same features as Tom Tom but for a lot less money.
You can find your destination by post code, street name and area, the screen shows you the roads of the road you are on which is always helpful, it has camera locations loaded, it remembers previous destinations and is just so simple to use, i never even picked up the instructions! It comes complete with cradle and in car charger too and in my opinion is just the right size so you can see the route easily without restricting your view of the road ahead. I also think it calculates the route much quicker than the tom tom i had. Great deal i...

Navman and friends comes out on-top
Review of Navman ICN 520 by
paul.ceccherini
Advantages: On board Battery, Size, Functionality
Disadvantages: 12 channels, sunglare, non 7 digit postcode finder
...Well, having read the other reviews I doubt I can top them, very thorough, however there are some things I saw that I can fill in on.
At the end of the day, if you have £250 to spend on Sat Nav, either you will be looking at Tom Tom One and Navman ICN520. The difference between the two is that the Tom Tom One uses 20 Channel GPS compared to the Navman which has 12, and that the Tom Tom One has 7 digit post code finder.
So looking at the black and white, the Tom Tom One wins.... well actually not for me. Hence my title, "Friends" see, there is software out there that can make the Navman search for 7 digit postcodes. Not only that, but as the Navman runs on Windows CE and the Tom Tom One doesn't, it can also be turned into a PDA with a touch senstive screen. That means you can listen to music on it, play games and use other PDA...

Navman N40i
Review of Navman N40i GPS receiver by
Scuzzy1965
Advantages: Touch screen, Camera
Disadvantages: First unit was faulty, poor customer support
...unit did arrive.
With the new unit installed it was time to try it out fully. It worked. I previously used a Garmin, I found the navman very easy to use. the 2d and 3d views make navigating easier. The touch screen saves on multiple button presses, The 'boring' female voice can be replaced with a 'boring male voice'.
Preinstalled are 1,000's of Points of interest along with dedicated fuel and parking buttons. These are really good when you need to find a petrol station or parking area in a strange area, nice touch Navman.
The built in camera is great too. You can take a photo of a location and then rather than have to type the address again you can press on a pic instead. These pics are reportedly on a Database on the Navman site. I have not found any. Users proportedly can upload their own pics to the navman site.
Apart from...

NEVER GET LOST AGAIN?
Review of Navman N20 by
allyoxley
Advantages: Great spot-on navigation, points of interest, night vision
Disadvantages: none as yet
...My husband has been after one of these for ages, after alot of research, in-store displays and price comparison, he went for the Navman N20 and found the best deal on the internet at www.handtech.co.uk purchasing it for £212.68 which included next day free delivery.
The basic Navman N20 pack, comes with an in-car charger, a USB charger, a carry case, window holder and several discs which can be uploaded onto your Navman.
It is very slim, easy to carry and has a 3.5" LCD screen which is very clear rto read.
The Navman comes with UK and Ireland pre-loaded, but the discs which come with it cover the whole of europe and can be downloaded easily onto it.
Discs included are:-
SmartST 2006 SE Software
SmartST Desktop
NavAlbum
Map Date for European Countries

To get started it is necessary to charge the Navman, which I did...

Navman 720 needs to get lost
Review of Navman ICN 720 by
fightgear
Advantages: camera is a great idea, nice crisp display, good easy access buttons
Disadvantages: poor battery life, freezes regularly, bad customer service
...I looked around at anywhere likely to sell GPS systems and decided that I liked the features and look of the Navman best. Also, several sales people advised me against buying th Navman because the previous models were not the most reliable. But, I knew best, and so I bought it. Or rather, my wife bought it for me as it was a birthday present.
It was a problem from day 1. The display (the hi-def display was the main reason I bought it) is incredibly clear and seems the largest of current GPS systems. It has a great set of buttons which at a single press will show you nearest car parks or nearest petrol stations which many other manufacturers should copy! The camera feature where by you take a photograph with the built in camera and it will automatically save the location is incredibly useful. You see a nice pub as your are passing...
