Advantages: Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan

...My favourite film stars Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal searching for love over a period of 10 or so years. The film's premise is that men and women can never be just friends because the sex issue always gets in the way! The film is goregeous,it is sad an funny and heartwarming. Travelling together from Chigaco to New York, Harry and Sally first meet and then continue to do so at intervals throughout the years....Billy Crystal is his normal cheeky self and Meg is her delicious cutesy self. Starring in the film is also Carrie Fisher who is great as Sally's best friend. The film has great shots of New York at christmas, snowy and pretty ... This is definatly a girlie film, it's a tissues and chocolate film for those those cold winter nights .................... Read review

Advantages: So many things to do

...New York is fantastic, the tourist areas speak for themselves and the shopping is of course world-renowned. As much as I enjoy these aspects on my regular visits the the city, I have continuously found that some little known areas provide a much better taste of the actual city and the local people. Manhattan is of course a must-see, but after a day lost in Macy's I would whole-heartedly reccomend heading downtown to 4th street and below, and checking out the bars in Grenwich Village, a place with a relaxed vipe, it simply epitomises cool. Simply jumping on a subway to another borough can provide an adventure. Head out to Queens to see Flushing Meadows, host to the US tennis Open, and Shea Stadium directly opposite, the grand old stadium of the New York Mets. Or take the train to Coney Island, Brooklyn, for a sense of the real New... Read review

Advantages: food, diveristy, stuff to do
Disadvantages: expensive! Scary people.

...I went to New York for a mere amount of 3 days and 2 nights. And it was more than enough time for me to spend there. I was visiting with my mother, my dad, my 11 year old little brother and my 17 year old little sister. When we stepped off the plane, immediately we were met with glares and scowls and thick broklyn accents. My mother asked pleasantly for directions to the cabs, and was appalled at the durrogitory response given by the passing flight attendant. Subways were scary. So was Central Park. So was our hotel. So was all the shops outside the hotel. The city is very intimidating, but it has its advantages. There is a ton to do there, as long as you have the appropriate amount of funds to participate. Unfortuanately, New York isn't a cheap city. Though you'll need to watch out for the creepy old men who dress up like cheap... Read review

...New York can be a scary place if you don't know what you are doing... New York is probably most famous for its sky line buildings and the statue of Libety. New York is also the setting for the very popular t.v fit series F.R.I.E.N.D.S... I've only been to New York once and I loved it... it's great for shopping and stuff. I went to Central Park, it was ok, not what I expected though... Still I like New York, and if you are in America you should visit New York... ...A good place to stay for students. It was very cheap, the staff were friendly and there was a nice cat. However, there were lots of stairs to climb and not great security for belongings. It was great for meeting people and there was a TV room with kitchen for socialising and cooking. I met a lot of people there when I went down to the lounge. Most people were travellers and everyone was friendly. I was able to cook for myself and store food and drink there. However, I was ill when i arrived and I had to walk up three flights of stairs to get to my room. As all my belongings were kept down stairs, this meant a lot of physical exercise which I really didn't need. The hostel was in a great location.... Read review

Advantages: During the Horse Drawn Ride, you are taken to safe areas but are given a feel for the park's atmosphere.
Disadvantages: You only see a very small part of the park, in the horse drawn carridge.

...the air. I knew the park was huge (like many things in New York City). Central Park is 843 acres of green, lush parkland, open to the residence and visitors of New York City. It is free too! On arriving at the park entrance, by the Plaza Hotel, a pleasant sight met our eyes as drivers with theirs horse and traps were being prepared for the day. In New York cars are not allowed to enter the park on Sundays so it is an ideal time to take the half our ride through a small part of the park. The driver was friendly and gave us a guided tour as we past sites of interest: The Zoo, The Ice Rink use in the Films Love Story and Home Alone 2. He also pointed out other site such as Jackie Onasis's apartments and the building used in Ghostbusters. By the way, cars are band from entering the park during the weekend, allowing the cyclist, right of way... Read review

Advantages: Beautiful, peaceful, calming.

...Strawberry Fields is a three acre landscape on the edge of Central Park dedicated to the memory of John Lennon. It apparently contains plants from more than one hundred countries. It is a spot that was often visited by John, and is only a few yards away from the Dakota Building across the street outside of which the former Beatle met his death in 1980. The garden is tear-shaped and contains a tiled mosaic. The tribute simply says, 'Imagine'. John's wife Yoko still lives at the Dakota building and it is largely through funds from her that Strawberry Fields is maintained. In May this year I had enjoyed a romantic stroll through Central Park with my wife. It was cold and sunny. A beautiful New York day. We came across Strawberry Fields and it made us stop in our tracks. It is a very simple tribute, and there is not really much to it. I have... Read review

...Have you ever had that feeling when you know you only been in one place for a few days or a week but it feels like you’ve been there for a lifetime? That’s the feeling I got when I had to leave New York, because I had done so much in the space of a week that it felt like I had been there for months and I still didn’t visit all the most popular landmarks the 1st time I went. As you can see my alias is AshNYC so I thought I should write a review on New York. We all know New York from comics like Spider-Man and Television programmes like Friends but I want to put across the real New York the New York that is a thriving metropolis bursting full of life New York is truly ‘The City That Never Sleeps’. So far I’ve been to New York twice and I plan to go again because it’s just that sort of place that you can keep going to and never get board... Read review

Advantages: Location, Price, Staff
Disadvantages: Slightly small rooms

...We stayed at the New Yorker April 2006. We found the rooms weren\'t huge but enough space for two and extremely good on price. The staff were all really friendly but not in that overly patronising way that can sometimes happen in the USA. For us, the added bonus' were the Italian on the bottom left of the hotel and more so, the Tick Tock diner on the right of the hotel. The great thing about the diner was that it was open 24hours, ideal for those late breakfasts or even later evening meals when you got on the wrong subway and got lost in Queens! But that's a whole other story. The diner had a 'Hurley' lookalike - Lost star. I'm not sure if he knew it, but he was the friendliest chap I have ever met as well. Anyway, we got back to New York next year for our wedding, unfortunately we can't get back into the New Yorker as they are having... Read review
